I like a chair with arms, deep seat and high back (sm)
so I bought a leather chair from Costco about a year ago and have never regretted it.  Think it is made by Lane.  It was a little expensive but since I'm in it for hours a day - sometimes 12 - I figure it was an important investment... plus it is so good looking we often wheel into other parts of house when we need extra seating :)
computer chair for lower back support
Can anyone out there help quicken my shopping for a new chair? My lower back is out for the first time in years and I need to seriously shop for a good supportive chair. Anyone who has discovered one, please write back with the scoop - I will appreciate it!
Can anybody recommend a good seat cushion for my office chair? I'm having a lot of problems SM
with numbness in my tailbone, and left buttock with tingling down into my left leg and foot.  I can't afford a new chair right now as I just bought this one six months ago.  I have to get up and stretch out and walk around quite often during the day and its cutting into my production.
My 8-year-old threw up on the way home from family celebration Christmas Eve, all over the back seat

Then threw up approximately every hour from 10:00 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. Christmas morning.  Not the Christmas I had planned, up cleaning bodily fluids all night.  Somehow Santa managed to come overnight, too.  My husband, me and the 2-year-old didn't get the bug until last night, it's vicious!  Hopefully that's all over now and we can enjoy the rest of our vacation!

comfortable chair/bad back
I know this sounds unlikely but when my standard office chair broke some months ago in the middle of my shift, I removed my $7 K-mart canvas "camp" chair (used for fishing trips and picnics) from its drawstring canvas bag and, unbelievably, this has been the best, most comfortable chair I've had in years! The only drawback, of course, is that it is not on rollers/casters, but it is so lightweight, it's easy to maneuver around. I know it sounds strange but it has been just a blessing for my back & rear.
Uh, no---wow thos 30% must be pretty shallow people-I went from a relatively short simple name - sm
to a slovic name, luckily very short too but confuses everybody and just about every either pronounces it wrong or spells it phonetically and puts in an extra letter (a "c"). I can live with it though I do correct everyone when they do it wrong.
back again after my 7th call to the tech support
Thanks for the warranty/technician advice...

Our initial impression too was that it was so great having this satellite internet (compared to our only other option dial-up). We first had the DW6000, and decided to upgrade because of our extreme satisfaction with the system (especially my husband who has been trying to convert to Linux and has been downloading big software files for that purpose).

I just talked to the Advanced Support personnel (that was after 25 minutes of talking to the lower support), and all he could say was that they were still trying to resolve the issue and could not give me a timeframe, that if I wanted to use the net I would just have to check from time to time.

I hate being able to work for 5-20 minutes, only to get no connection again and make the 30-minute call again, and have the internet working again for several minutes (the longest it was probably continuously working was three hours last night, when DH dl'ed 100 MB of software). I decided to just have the day off (again).

I hope that this issue would resolve very soon. I pay their service using my MT income. Now I am losing income yet I still have to pay them monthly.

I wonder if I could try to use the DW6000 (we still have the modem) and see if it will have the same issues...I will ask DH about it when he comes home...

Meantime, I will do some chores. I have lost the gumption to work today...
I have a friend whose ex-hus owes $10K+ in back child support, she will never try to get it either -
because she is scared to death of him now.  In the past he has tried to kill himself (she saved him), and he has threatened her as well.  She thinks if pushed, he would possibly harm her and her daughter so she does nothing but IF he does see the daughter (he makes the rare effort but probably only because his new wife (#3) pushes for it) it is always supervised by her and in a public place.  When he works the new wife makes sure child support is paid, but he is clinically depressed and works sporadically, and a lot of under the table stuff.  Luckily she has sole custody of her daughter though and lives at home with her parents so she has good family support and financially has a very good job ($65K a year) so she has been able to do a lot for her daughter on her own, and also pay off all the debt her ex rung up (gambler) on her credit cards....they split the debt in the divorce. So there are many reason's why people don't push for child support.  Luckily my friend is in a position where she does not need it, yes she would like it because it would help pay for a lot of her daughter's activities as she takes 4 dance classes or the rent she pays to live at home.  She never prevents her daughter from calling or trying to see her dad, but time and time again he disappoints her with promises of seeing her more, etc.  But the girl is smart and at age 11 now, knows her dad is just a total jerk. Her grandpa is good to her though and at least she has a "father-figure" in her life with him.
In the meanwhile, make a harness to support his back legs when you take him outside (sm)
Use a long thin beach towel as the harness underneath his rear legs and the ends of the towel as your handle. I had to do this as part of therapy for my senior. Also massage the legs.
All docs to be sent back to high school
to learn how to do a basic OUTLINE!
I feel like I'm back in high school again!
This is ridiculous!
I found one with a high back on it really helped.
It was otherwise adjustable for height and rocks back or can be locked into place depending on how my back and neck feel.
Try leaning back in your chair and typing with your keyboard in your lap. I had terrible neck sm
back and shoulder pain, as well as pain in my elbows and hands from rheumatoid arthritis. I tried this method and have been using it for almost 6 years now with excellent results.
You have some really cool stuff at your site. I'm sure gonna come back here. TV will Chair uncond

Feels like the cliques back in high school...

I can not believe how rude you all are...  I make a simple statement and everyone jumps all over me?  If you all lived in our neighborhood and saw house after house with tree down, where you can see the roots are barely in the ground because they were planted so shallow, with no room to grow because the curb and the sidewalk are on each side, and you talked to all of my other neighbors who all feel the same way, then maybe you wouldn't be so quick to pass judgement.  I think it's ironic that everyone else I've talked to in person finds it surprising that trees as big as these were, that have been there a decent amount of time (2+ years) did this.  I have six trees in my backyard that were only planted 2 months ago, but were planted the right way and are fine...  I am not an expert on Arizona weather, having only lived here 2 years, but it doesn't take a genius to look at the way these trees roots are so shallow to know there is a problem.  The other tree snapping in two is not something I blame on the landscapers, it was obvious that it has a very thin trunk and was never very strong.

God forbid anyone make a passing comment on what is obviously "your board".  And no need to respond anymore, you've made it very clear that newcomers are not welcome.

Nice job. I'm planning to come back here in the future. Central Tournament is always White Chair:
Awesome stuff! Thanks for all the information. Central, Coolblooded, International nothing comparative to Industrious , when Soldier is Pair it will Create Plane Do Create Roll - that is all that Player is capable of , when Table Compute Chips Percieve Give Soldier is very good Chips
Long and winding road, but back in high school
My favorite album was Sgt. Pepper's, I listened to it over n over until the tape wore out and finally broke.  I keep meaning to replace my old collection with CDs.  I used to have posters of the Beatles all over the walls, collected those circle john lennon sun glasses, the whole deal.
You need a better chair with adjustable arms.
aa
Mine was from my high school test, back in the dark ages.

I've always been partial to a chair with arms
and I'm not sure why.  I don't know where people put their arms with no arm rests.  Would that cause shoulder tiredness?  I don't have an idea for a new one, but I sure need one!
OK! I'm glad you're back down here. Now don't go back up there and read those evil posts ag
Okay? But I have to leave you now, sadly. Thousands of noble dictating doctors are anxiously awaiting my help with their "dictations"....They're all loading up on chips, drinking lots of soda so they can burp, and then have to go to the bathroom...You know the routine! Off I go to earn some pennies!! But, truly, I am thankful that I have a job!
PS.. It apparently worked..I heard back and already submitted the paperwork back.

I'm not sure how many people they are hiring but you shouldn't stress too hard over it. Do the best you can.

No, at this co. QA is good about sending back

that's the usual process so that we can listen to our errors. How do you ever learn if you don't see your errors?

That's a good idea. I am due back to get
my teeth cleaned actually and was thinking I could talk to a hygienist there also...maybe see if they have time to arrange to talk with me more during non-work hours. Thanks. :)
I quit for good, too, ....... then got back in biz...sm
I thought I quit for good, too. I quit for 2 years. Then, due to circumstances, was forced to look for part-time work, decided MT would pay the best of any PT job out there.

Man, was I rusty!!! I'm not kidding!! It was like not knowing what I knew I knew! Had to double check everything! My skills did come back quickly - within a few weeks I was rolling again, but those first few weeks and testing were miserable.

I wished I had at least kept a very small account to keep my skills up.

But, at the time, I was FED up with the biz and would never look back! LOL!

Anyway, I'm very happy for you and wish you all the luck in the world! You probably for weeks/months will always have that feeling where you need to 'go type some charts.' LOL! :)
LAME Yuck... where's a GOOD come back?
Talk to me when you have a real comeback cheeseball!!!!!   I'm way past the sticks and stones phase of life!!!!!  HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAA LAMO LAMO Looohoooser!!!!
Good grief, back to the future. nm

Good Lord! Is all this back-biting really necessary?
admin. where are you now? Sheesh!
Know of any good chairs for back pain?
I have been using a $20 task chair from Wal-Mart for the past three years, I am sitting her now six months pregnant about ready to die from upper and lower back pain.  Anyone have suggestions for a good quality chair they like, right now money is not an option,  I would pay big $$$ for just a little relief.
Good for you! I'm back at school learning (sm)

a new career after 16+ years in this business!!  I love MT but it's time for something with a steady paycheck and longevity.  Good luck to you and to the rest of us in your shoes!!   :)

I would not do them back to back - I have done 2 and 3 jobs at the same time -- all PT - sm
It is possible to do of course but you will burn out fast. Now I do one almost FT (about 30 hours a week) and the other is about 8-10 hours a week-- I still get beat doing that and that is w/o set hours. I find that the older I get the harder it is to work late and I am only 40! But a mid afternoon 30-minute cat nap helps a lot in order to keep going on busy days.
How do you set your computer back 1 day. I messed something up and need to go back 1 day.

I can't believe this. I just quit a good company and went BACK to MQ and now this? Oh, Lord! nm

MT Chair for very short lady

Hello.   I am 4' 7" tall and work from home.  Need a chair that is height adjustable, tilt, low back support, no open gap at lower back.  Any suggestions?  Thanks,

Mary in Tennessee Valley

Does anyone have any good ideas for back and hip pain from sitting all day? Anything on the market?
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
A good MT is hard to find. Check back with those 2 companies

Sombeody actually wrote a really good letter to Advance a few issues back. sm
It was in the Jan. 12, 2009, issue, letter to the Editor titled, "What Good is Change for MTs?" by Wendy Keller. She does attack AHDI in a very intelligently written letter.
You have some really cool stuff at your site. I'm sure gonna come back here. Good, Superb, Small
Reading your content just made my day. Keep the good work. Gnome will Pair unconditionally , Industrious, Big, Green nothing comparative to Good Full Cards Roll or not , when Tournament Roll Plane Double to Fetch Mistery you should be very Good
Yes, you get back to work now. Go back to
some routine, and it does start to hurt less. I know  And remember, she is still there at work with you. Always will be. I figure at this point I have a whole herd of loved dogs under my desk each day - along with a couple horses, hamsters, parakeets, rabbits...If only I could see them - must be quite a happy zoo! But I know they are all there I sense their love.
Split keyboard mounted on chair arms versus split keyboard on desk

For longtime comfort which is best - split keyboard mounted on chair arms or split keyboard to be used on the desk?

Also, why the preference over split keyboards that come totally apart versus split keyboards that are permanently connected at the top?

I want to revamp my office and there are so many different options.

8 is NOT good if never going any higher - good to get the rust out in the short term though

First post in response to mine only validates my statements and rests my case....Thank you!
x
not good that your husband does not support you - sm
he should and doesn't so you are not in a good position to put it mildly. All I can say is either ignore it or somehow turn it back against her, so it comes off that she is the one in the wrong. But always be nice, I would never stoop to her level, deflect with a smile. I would have a talk with your husband that you would like him to support you and not the mother as you are his wife, etc. especially if you have kids and any of this control struggle involves them. Mom never learned how to let go obviously and like to crack the whip still. You need to somehow remove it from her grasp and yield it yourself. Good luck.
"That's Life." It was only on a short while a few years ago, but was really good. nm

Try for a short sale, a good friend of mine - sm
did that a few months ago, had a mortgage and a 2nd mortgage, and just could not keep up. They agreed to a short sale on the 2nd mortgage, and by a miracle she got a buyer. She actually walked away with about $1K. Lives with boyfriend now which is saving his butt from foreclosure now.
Not shallow. It's a big decision to make. sm
What color was your hair?.  If it was dark, you'll probably have to touch it up every 3 to 4 weeks.  If you choose to go blonde, you should be able to get away with every 4 to 6 weeks for touchup.  I had brown hair, turned white rather than gray.  I use Preference by Loreal.  It works well.  Like another poster said, it is a good idea to contact representatives of one of the OTC brands.  They are very helpful.  Should be able to find toll-free numbers on their websites.  If it was me, I think I would have a professional do it the first time, someone you trust.
Call MyDocsOnline, very good support, and ask

High IQ doesnt = good MT.

Can't anyway. Just get them back. sm

I actually tried to dump a report today, which I never do, because it somehow got into my pool in error (not my area of expertise), but it jumped right back up at me after the next report.  So I decided to just do it.  I don't know how well I did, but I did it.  It was over 150 lines long and took me forever.  Lo and behold, 5 reports later, same guy, same type of report 145 lines. Second time around was easier and faster though.  The way I see it is that if I get negative feedback, I'll let them know that those kind of reports really shouldn't come my way.

But cherry picking for line count is just plain wrong.

I did, but then I came back to it.

The other jobs I took involved quite a bit of computer use, too.  I got tired of the office politics and other garbage, so I'm doing MT again.  Now, I prop my keyboard up with a block of wood, although you can use a telescoping keyboard drawer/shelf to do the same thing.  I have a habit of letting my wrists rest on the keyboard, so I had to modify it to get my hands into the proper position.  It might have helped if I had taken piano lessons.  LOL  The only time my wrists ache now is if I work too much, which has been the case lately.  I don't know if it would be helpful for you to try.  I've been doing data entry or some form of computer input work for 17 years now, so I'm hoping carpal tunnel or repetitive motion injury isn't definitely in my future.
