And having a holier than thou attitude is SOOOOOO attractive!

Why is it holier than thou to tell you
instead of complaining on this board.  Do some work/make some money.  Hone your skills/make yourself more valuable.  I make a lot of money because of the time and effort I have put into it.  I used to make $6 an hour doing MT.  Now I make $35 or more.  If I had sat around complaining about making $6 an hour, instead of working my a$$ off to become an excellent MT, with hospital experience, and now my own accounts, I still wouldn't be making anything.  Life is what you make it.  Take what you have/start where you are, and work your way up.  Do that instead of complaining and you'll get somewhere.
    not holier than thou
my belief system does not allow me to do ITOPs and has me really boxed in trying to find employment.  been offered 2 really good jobs lately and now realizing that working for MTSO versus my old inhouse job might not work.  Any ideas?
    What a holier-than-thou answer. nm
    ?
I CANNOT believe these Holier Than Thou wonderful moms - sm
This is absolutely ridiculous... There are crappy daycares out there, but you can certainly tell by your child's actions if it is good or bad - if they go kicking and screaming then you know they aren't having FUN.  Lady, You are doing JUST FINE....  if they love daycare and you are getting your work done, then SO WHAT... these other "wonderful moms" are SO one-sided opinionated that I would hate to see the attitude and social skills they are teaching THEIR little ones!!  YOU do the best you can for YOU and your babies...  Is this really troubling to these "wonderful moms" when they begin pre-K or Kindergarten for heaven's sake... LORD KNOWS the teachers at school don't love these children like YOU do... puhleeeze!!  If it is a fun learning experience where they are making friends... they would RATHER be playing with friends than watching your back and listening to the rattling of the keyboard...  Sure there are companies that allow flexibility, but you have to set it to suit everyone in the mix...  To you "wonderful moms" who think that YOUR way of "NO DAYCARE" is the ONLY right way - poopoo to you.... Mommies have to do what Mommies have to do... all children are different...  my daughter I was able to keep at home... my son needed interaction with people and constant stimulation that I could not be flexible with - so he had a sitter for a few hours, then pre-K ....  he has turned out to be the brightest child you would ever meet with a vocabulary that would stun you!!  Each child is different, each family is different, each mommy is different... YOU are NOT a terrible mother for choosing this route, and I am sure your babies will grow up to be well-rounded, SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE young ladies and gentlemen...  Shame, SHAME for judging!!!
No, as an IC, I am my own boss. I contract out my transcribing services, but I am my own boss.
    :)
Actually, we are not holier than any person.
God is Holy. Christians are just forgiven!
Well, then why don't you take your "holier-than-thou"
attitude back to your desk and get to work, yourself.
Best thing - I am my own boss and my own emloyee, worse thing - I am my own boss and my own

    :P

U to be right but me thinks thou doth protest
    x
I am fairly new with my company and I tried the control Y one time, and it didn't work, so I thou
into the "global" normals, I will play with it again and give it a try. How long have you been doing transcription? Have you stayed with the same company for a long time? I worked at a clinic for 6 years, hospital for 8, and now this new national for 3 months.....I hate feeling new!
can you stand on your feet all day, be abused by better than thou customers, work for slave wages?

My mistake, I am not thinking tonight, I actually make 11.5 cpl, clinic notes. I earn my money thou
    nm
God gave us the ability to judge for good reason. Then told us judge not, lest thou be judged. NM
    :
    Tell your boss
Tell him exactly what you told us - that you were researching for the name and that is what you came up with.  You did nothing wrong and I'll bet the doctor will be very appreciative.  Good catch on your part!
    Per my boss.....
    It would be 250,000
    Boss?
What happens after the holidays? She sobers up and re-hires all of you?

And, I thought nothing for Xmas was bad! :)
I used to have a boss like that (sm)
She was actually running the company, a new franchise in a big city, and between her other duties, she typed.  She would be there at 4 a.m., sometimes 3, and leave at about 9 p.m. every night.  That is a sickness.  The best part is she didn't need the money - seriously - she didn't even need to work.  They were very well off, and her husband had a great job.   She finally had a heart attack, but that was after years of those hours; believe it or not, she didn't even go into the hospital for her heart attack - the doctor said it was "mild" so she came to work half days for about a week, cause the place couldn't run without her.  Now THAT is sick.
I would think so. You would tell your boss ...

if you worked in an office.  I have always let several people know when I am going to be away,  just to make sure I'm covered.

    Have a great vacation!

    Boss
I am sorry to hear this, but I have worked in-house and encountered the same type of boss. I left and did not look back and that same boss is there and things have gotten worse under her administration. My ex-coworker has been transcribing for nearly 20 years and is one of her best employees, but yet she treats her like a dog -- go figure.
    Boss
Sounds like she is trying to get you to quit - I went through this with one boss - an MTSO - who was really losing all of her accounts and did not want anyone to be able to collect unemployment. She tried everything, changing people's accounts, denying them bonuses, taking away work and queuing it to other people, you name it - she did it. Thicken up your skin if you like your job, but don't expect her to change. I'm sorry that you have to go through this, as it makes for a stressful work environment -of course at some point that might be able to be changed to a "hostile work environment" at which time you need to go to EEOC. Come to think of it, I would give them a call anyway and report her.
    Boss
I bought the Boss too and I love it! I had considered Dyson, but so expensive, and glad i settled on this one - i'm impressed!
    boss
I had one that i worked for a little bit longer than you and when I gave my notice she told me she would take my resignation now. Boy doesn't that make you feel like just another #.
I think it might be a boss
Upon further research I think it might be a carpal boss or bone spur because it is very hard and painful, unlike a cyst.  I'm going to see my rheumatologist in a couple of weeks and ask him.  I have a bad feeling that it might need to come out because my hand is getting stiff.  But as long as i can type I'll hang in there.
I think you must have my old boss! Just like you, all of us

LOL LOL LOL? What do you know about my attitude? LOL
I know you are management and you know what? You can't put out this fire. Attitude? Why I'll just tell my mortgage company that my attitude was bad, I got a bad QA report because I couldn't interpret ESL dictator and could I please not have them foreclose on my house. Attitude indeed. Check own queenly gotta be right I'm better than you lowly MT attitude yourself.
you can keep your attitude to yourself
The information I got was in the email, not on actual paperwork.  If you don't want to answer, then go but somebody else.  I understand the concept of work more, get more, DUH yourself.
    Attitude
I am truly sorry if I offended. The question itself sounded kinda "duh" to me. Again, I apologize. I've been 46 hours with no sleep and okay, so my brain is not on it's best functional mode.

I am utterly at a loss for words now as I honestly meant no offense.
wow, what an attitude he has!
Well, I am sure glad that I do not work for THAT company! Seems this outsourcing thing is getting WAY out of hand. He moans about not having enough MTs in this country - I think that they just need to get the pay per line rate up some (pay us what WE are actually worth for once, and quit sending it ALL overseas so that these companies can "SAVE MONEY??"). I would like HIM to live on what WE have to live on!!
    i like your attitude
    excellent point
Someone with her attitude needs to
go elsewhere. With her around, I was almost dreading coming on the board sometimes. She is always looking to start an argument or putting somebody down. I, for one, am glad to see her go, and only pray she stays gone. What a drag!!!
    Attitude is everything.
My impression of your post is that management never gets it right; only you do. I wonder if they could ever do anything right in your eyes.

It's too bad that there are so many people out there with the attitude that the company is "out to get them". There are a lot of good companies and people running them out there--just as there are good MTs.

If I work with someone like you, I'm sure I already avoid you because I don't want to be around such a negative attitude; if you work at home, I'd like to say "thanks for staying home".
With your attitude you should do the same
Since the only thing you can come away with from this discussion is "give up and do something else"!
    Certainly, with that attitude...
You will have a difficult time achieving anything positive in life, connections or not.
Are you serious? The only attitude so far has been yours! nm
    x
    just me and my attitude?

    apparently not.

    Notify your boss
Depending on the company you work for, you might get results.  It's very frustrating when you see something that needs changed but are powerless.  When working for Edix, I had a patient that had the exact same condition my son has and there was a new treatment that had saved his life, yet her doctor did not know about it and she was at the point of being near death and only in her 20s.  I emailed my supervisor and asked them to please notify the doctor of the information I sent and they said nope, no way, against the law.  That was nearly 3 years ago and still bothers me wondering how the patient turned out.
Do any of you consider QA/editing to be your boss?
I understand that they critique our work, etc., but I never really considered them to be our "boss".  I already have one supervisor, now it looks like I have a few more.
I am my own boss and my own employee. nm
    :}
I'd tell me to discuss it with his boss

You gotta be r-e-a-l careful when you're talk state laws. The boss might consider him "problematic." I mean, how much money are we talking about in terms of travel from the boss to the client? If he's getting, say, $10/hour and it's a 15-minute drive ... For $2.50, I would just let it slide.

I'm an IC and work exclusively for one company, which makes me a statutory employee by IRS law. However, I'm making a high line rate, so I'm more than willing to leave things as they are and pay 100% of my social security tax.

This is one of those "silence is golden" situations.

    Boss asking for normals
Is anybody working for a company where your boss is asking you to share your NORMALS.  Be very careful.  My company is asking us to share your normals and come to find out who they want us to share with, overseas.  Also asking questions like, who are the best dictators, etc. Also experiencing block of work just disappearing.  Several hours just gone.  Anybody else.
I wonder if you have the same boss lady as me...
She is terrible.  She constantly acuses me of things I am not doing and then when I call her on it, I never hear any more about it.  Never an apology.  I have tried to speak with her on the phone but she won't and it's always by e-mail which is so frustrating.  I have been slammed so many times I can't even count any more.  I just never know from day to day whether I'll have a job or not because I never know what I will be accused of next.  Oh the things we put up with to make a living in this business
    She's the boss, applesauce.
    :=
OMG... sounds like you have my old boss! n/m
    :)
I'd ask your boss for them or the doctor for -
examples. If you cannot get any that way I'd just use the standard SOAP format for PT.
If you are IC, this person is NOT your boss.
    x
Being my own boss is worth that!
    x
As employee, you do what the boss (Dr) wants.
    x
Apparently your boss is not looking at
the work flow. Next time you are asked, tell your boss that if you could pick and choose you would be doing more work too. The boss needs to handle this, if he/she won't, there is not much you can do.
I would not hesitate to tell your boss
especially since she has asked you why this person does so much more than you. Also, you have proof!

Don't worry about opening up a can of worms - it needs to be open. You need to be honest with your boss when she questions you to cover your tail! I wouldn't worry about the other person - she's made her own bed and now she should lie in it.

Maybe it's your attitude to begin with.

Change your tune.  Be sugary sweet when you think someone is being rude to you and see what happens.  Pay it forward.  Give someone a smile or a kind word.  Let someone in line in front of you.  Just do one little nice thing per day and it will multiply.  People are never rude to me.  Everywhere I go, they know me by name because I take the time to be kind to them.  Gas station, grocery store, bank, school, doctor's office.  You might have to fake it 'til you make it, but you can change your outlook and how you perceive the world treats you.  If someone is "rude" to you, blow it off.  Maybe they're having a bad day and it's nothing personal.
