Without having Word open to refer to, I'll see if I can help...sm

When you click on autotext to open it, it should be where you can type in a new entry. Type in the entry you want to delete, and when it is highlighted I think an option should show to delete. I hope this is right, but like I said, I don't have Word open and I may have missed a step. Hope this gets you started in the right direction anyway.

Info/help on open Word 2007 docx with Word 2003.

I have a friend who sent me a document with .docx extension, presumably Word 2007. I can open it in Word 2003; however, all I see are musical notes and highlighting, no text (this is a document with words and highlighting only, no pictures, music notes, etc.). I tried to open this with Notepad and only see the usual gibberish.

I know I opened another 2007 Word doc before and I remember seeing the converter load at that time but that was probably a year ago. Is there something that has changed that I'm not aware of?

Darn Microsoft.

..but if it's nice out, I'll open window so I can hear the birds. nm

thanks for the advice.....I am definitely open to learning new things, so I'll give it a try!

Word vs. Open Office
I have an even better idea than spending money on Word. I'm doing this myself. Log on to: www.openoffice.org and read about it, then download it and start using it. I love it! It's absolutely free. No risk of marketers getting your email address and bombarding you with junk mail. I learned about it through our I.T. Dept. It works exactly like Word! You can even use the spreadsheet and other features, but all I really use is the word processing part. Check it out and let everybody know what you think. I'm very happy I learned about it. :)
You do not say which version of Word you are using but if you open--sm
File, Print, and in the box 'print what' click on the down arrow and choose key assignments. Sorry, I do not use templates much so maybe someone else can answer that, or go the 'help' and you may find the answer there. Hopes this helps
Open up a word document to use as a
template.  Do view header.  Go into th e header of your word document.  Go back to your scanned document, highlight the pic and right click to copy.  Then go back to your word document that you created and paste into the header.  Do the same if there is a footer.  Hope this helps.
Hot key to open AutoCorrect in Word? sm
Does anyone know the hot key to open up autocorrect in MS Word?  I tried searching word and couldn't find it and I tried googling and couldn't find it.  Any help would be wonderful,  TIA.
Open Word, click on Auto Correct, then..
click on the words you do not want and click Delete.
Open up a few things in word and get the line counts for an average. Think it might be around 40

it just doesn't work when ChartScript is open.
If you have Word Perfect, it is easy. Just open any document, default the font and margins and do a

You can do a comparrison on gross lines versus 65 character line count by opening any document you have and counting lines both ways.

I have almost always been paid the gross line and still am right now.  No matter what the margins or font is, all documents are converted to 1 inch margins and 12 Courier font.  You do not count blank lines.  I make an average of 0.08 a gross line, which the way I am paid would average out to about 11-12 cents a 65 character line.

Hope this helps!

Just open glo file in Word, highlight all, then change case and save back
to glo file. Use the Alt key trick to highlight just the column of words, then Shift + F3 to toggle through the change case commands. First save your glossary under a different name so you also keep the original.
Ask on the word board, you'll get more
response there.  Did you Google it?
They'll do the work by posting every other word
because medical transcription is so danged "easy" to do! We just type what we hear (who cares about the danged PATIENT?).
Since I didn't get any answers, I'll re-word! sm
I am looking for an LD company that will cover MTs usage. Also, really want to hear from people who have had their service for a considerable period of time without problems.
That's the word on the street - hijacked. We'll see. I like

I'll try - my Word is old though, Word 97. SM

Shoot. I didn't paste your note but I'll try to remember.

I use Word 97. So my autocorrect for -year-old is yo and it types out -year-old, like I type 90yo and get 90-year-old.

CTRL+E is what it says when I hover my mouse over the "center" icon. You know there are a lot of tips you get like that, just hovering your mouse.

As for bolded headings, I use ShortCuts for Windows, but I am almost 100% sure you can use AutoText and put a bold command in there.

You can't just open the attachment. You need to save it to a file and then open SM
your wave player and load it.
Think you need to refer this to your QA,
they are 2 words where I work.
It has nothing to do with having a spine as you refer to it..
As long as the place I work helps me pay my bills, raise my children, and treats me fairly, it doesn't matter to me.  You are never going to get the entire transcription community to do that.  If we were all alike and had the same opinion life would be very dull and we would all be like drones.  If you CHOOSE not to work for companies that outsource, that is fine with me, as that is YOUR CHOICE.  However, I am happy where I am and it gives me what I need in life.  I hope that you can be a bigger person and respect other peoples choices in life.  They need not all be like yours.
What are these "loopholes" you refer to?
My DH has been in administration healthcare for over 20 years (national health care company). He says there is no "loopholes" that keep him from following the wage and hour laws, overtime is overtime, PERIOD!! Their MTs get paid overtime just like everyone else, and have no FORCED mandatory overtime.

You need to contact the wage and hour division PRONTO...something is stinky here!!!
so it's okay to refer to doctor as like a pig!!
but i suggest we might be more professional and MY post is deleted!!?? Good grief. What gives?
Yes, I agree here. You want them to refer you

You want to keep them happy within reason.  I doubt it would be that much of a bother.  You can write off the expense of the stickies and the travel.

The other worry I have is setting up digital for an office just because I don't want to travel and have them go with another MT because they could get cheaper rates by already being digital.  You don't want that to happen.

Can you tell I'm a firm believer in tape work and loyalty?

No matter what, there are things in this profession that you do that are sort of thankless, but I think in the long run if you like the account, you're better off just cutting the stickies and attaching just a small fee each month as Patti says.

Is there a manager for QA you could refer all these
x
Here's a nice one I refer to
This one has a good collection of ops.  See link below.
Here's another useful site I refer to

This one's come to my rescue quite a number of times.

I'm sorry, but why would you refer to ?'s about ones puppy or what's for dinner
Not trying to start a flame or anything, but what's wrong with a few non-transcription questions here and there? It helps break up the monotony of the job, don't ya think?
We have a gal in our office who I refer to as the 'notetaker'. She's always got some e-mai
that lists this or that infraction. No one is immune. She just isn't happy unless everyone is unhappy and I think the complaints are really just a way to elevate her own status in her own mind.

Not everyone is like our "notetaker", but I've learned when it comes to work, do your best, meet your quotas and if you can have a little fun while doing it, then life is good. Pick your battles, don't sweat the little stuff, and you'll have a whole lot less stress to deal with.

JMO
You should refer them to the testing site.
That's what I do when someone says they *would like to work at home, like you.*  I had someone tell me, quote, *You just type what the doctor says, right?*  I just looked at her and said, *Yeah, you're right.  I just type what the doctor says.*  ARRRGGGHHHH!
I refer them to the job boards so they can see how much experience they need. sm
That is it. I don't deal with it anymore. I usually just write down the website and go take a look. You will see how much experience, etc. you need. Good luck.

I have learned from past experience.

Never hear anything again from that same person.

You are entitled to coverage for 18 months...some of these responses just floor me!

yourself "your fine self?"  That's rich.

I'm so done with this.  I'm amazed you have a job.

A lot of physicians refer to their patients

How do I get it ST to open when escription is open?

Why not? Other MT boards refer people here all the time?
Are we supposed to just pretend other sites don't exist?

You'd be surprised!

An employer has the right to answer questions, but a prospective employer is limited as to what they can ask. Unfortunately, not enough smaller businesses know and follow these rules, thus a terminated employee ends up being blackballed.
That's what I'm thinking, too. Our agency told us to refer ALL creditors to them
and they were awesome. I'm thinking she doesn't have a good one, either. She definitely needs to call them or switch agencies, like the one you mentioned, to help her.
We don't have to SAVE lists of mistakes to refer back to. They are readily available at any given
Believe it or not, that's the kind of stuff we see all day long on a daily basis. Your resentment for QA is shining through. Perhaps you recognize some of these errors....
Template lines usually refer to pretyped canned reports
These would include such templates like epidural steroid injections and such where you are just typing in patient demographics and the date of procedure, cataract surgeries, or whatever canned dictation the physicians have come up with so they can cut costs and not dictate. Make sure you are not always having to revise the templates constantly at no cost; otherwise, that is a good price.

When I broke my ankle, I was just grateful it wasn't the hands. Without our hands we'd be totally screwed.

I broke my right ankle slipping on ice and was lucky to have gloves on because the palm of the glove was totally torn up and my hand was okay.

Good luck and be sure to do your exercises when it is time.
It'll happen. You'll find your fit.
You might have to kiss a few frogs first, though.
