Her statement just puts us in the category that most people try and stick us in and that is just a typist or a secretary. When I worked in-house someone once said Happy Secretary's Day to me and I was offended and I explained that I am NOT secretary. Not that I have anything against secretaries but if you think about it, a doctor would not want to be classified as a nurse so why should I be classified as a secretary. My training was a combined MT and secretary class and I had to do 3 times as much transcription to pass as a transcriptionist. There were only a few of us in the class and everybody else just whined and complained about doing the transcription part.
