No, companies don't expend the kind of money it takes to install new or improve old platforms so they can "screw us" or in order to make people less productive.

As for "spying on us", what the heck are you talking about? Yes, technologies available today do provide companies with the ability to exercise more oversight over remote employees, but it still isn't anything like the oversight that a supervisor would have if you worked in the same office with her. If you worked in the same office, she could look up from her desk any time and see that you're goofing off, taking personal phone calls, were late to work, took an extra-long lunch, or left work early. Right? I suppose she would be "spying" on you? That's what supervisors do! The word "supervisor" itself comes from roots that mean "over" and "see" - oversee.

Just do your job, stick to your schedule, comply with company expectations, manage your time properly, and you won't have to worry about anyone "spying" on you.
