wherever.  Down to the last razor blade!  It is highly unlikely that your husband will gather all of Loser Dude's belongings and bring them back into your house.  Dude will gather up his Loser Belongings and find another place to be a hospitality sucking leach.  (leech?)  Good riddance.  Just DO it!  And if you have one molecule of sympathy in your brain for this Loser, then you need to go to therapy. You have gone above and beyond the call of duty, nice lady.

Our driveway collapsed while my dad was backing up
This is particularly a problem in the south where there is a lot of lime in the soil and underground watersheds. The county where I live has a large sink hole that brings visitors from all over...It is nicknamed the "Golly Hole" because "Golly" is what people say when they see it! It is more than 3 football fields in length and more than one across.

This also happened on my mother's property when she allowed her neighbor to use her water to fill some ponds on his golf course. He drained the watershed too quickly and she had sink holes pop up all over her 10 acres. An environmental attorney wanted $5000 just to look at the facts of the case to decide if he would take it. She just had the holes filled in...actually several of them more than once...and it was cheaper than suing. Not much you can do but call the department of health (that may be the right department in your state).
well this is all i could gather

i know this isn't much, but i have never ever come across an american MT site that did not have a link somewhere for employment, and this one does not anywhere, and in fact clearly states they will only basically return inquiries from potential clients. Uh, where are they getting their MTs?  I have never heard of this company or seen a single job ad for them anywhere.  They can probably write the contract up, but my guess is that they may not hire offshore MTs, but they offshore to a company that does.  I am still looking....

I gather this is LD (sm)...

If you have a Win 2000 or XP computer around, you can convert it to a dial-in dictation system much less expensively than a Bytescribe system.

A 4-line Orator Pro "kit" (software and phone board) will run you $1700, which isn't too bad.  Unfortunately, when you want more lines the price goes up far more precipitously than can be justified by the cost of a phone board that handles more phone lines.  Their 8-line "kit" will run you $3400, or double the price of their 4-line "kit". Since this can't be justified by the difference in price between a 4-line board and an 8-line board, it's puzzling.  Then the price doubles again to move up to 16 lines, again with no justification based on phone board pricing, so it gets twice as puzzling.

Fortunately, there's an alternative.  For $700 you can get Dial Dictate software that permits unlimited users and handles up to 32 callers simultaneously.  Install the software, and then decide how many lines you want to handle.  You can pick up a 4-line USB phone interface unit from Alto Edge for $260, and voila!  You've got a 4-line system that's $600 less than Bytescribe's 4-line system.

In fact, by purchasing an 8-line board or a 16-line board ($500 or $880) instead of the 4-line USB unit, you would have $1200 to $1600 total investment in software and phone interface, versus $3400 and $6800, respectively, for the 8- and 16-line Bytescribe "kits".

And, of course, the Express Scribe application for transcription is free.

Check out the link below for more information on Dial Dictate software, and then click the link on the right in the box "Recommended Hardware" for information about the USB phone interface (easy as pie to use) and phone boards (almost as easy, but you have to crack the computer case open and install the board).

And if you want to move to 8 or 16 lines, you'll REALLY save money because all you need to do is pick up an 8- or 16-line phone board from the same company for about $500 or $880, respectively, for a total cost of $ - not $3400 and $6800 you'd pay to Bytescribe.

However, for about $1000, you can convert a Windows 2000 or XP system for dictation using NCH Dial Dictate software ($700) and a 4-line phone interface card (or a 4-line USB device, even easier) for $260.  Even better, you can move up to 16 lines for about $600 more.  Dial Dictate can handle 32 simultaneous dictators.  Check it out.

Use Dial Dictate from NCH ($700) and purchase a USB 4-line phone interface from Alto Edge ($260), or one of their phone cards that goes in the computer's PCI slot - up to 16 lines for $860).  The software and phone interface will cost you probably around much less than a system from Bytescribe.

I gather from your post, you're concerned

about the computer.  Ethically, you should not use it to do another job.  Legally, if your company specifically stated not to use it for personal use (i.e. surfing the net, working another job, paying bills, etc), you should not use it.  Some companies have Spyware on the computers they supply you with and can track your usage of it.  Although I doubt most companies would go after you for using it to do your banking, working another job on it may be an issue.  It would be best to check with your human resources dept to see what the policy is on personal use of the computer before downloading another company's platform.  You may also need to take into consideration whether your present company will need to dial into your computer for any reason and see the new platform on it.

Although I wasn't working a second job on a company-provided computer, I did store my personal photos and had a couple of games on it for my kids.  When I had a problem and tech support dialed in to my computer, they saw it and told me I needed to remove those items.  They told me they wouldn't report me or anything, but that they are supposed to report such things and to please remove them.  I did immediately and haven't added a thing to that computer since.  When I started a second job (to eventually phase out the first), I bought a used computer for a while until I could afford a new one.  I'm too much of a worrywart or scaredycat and didn't need something else to stress over.

Just kicked the 3 CPL to the curb!

3 cpl for editing VR is RIDICULOUS and I'm fed up.  I suddenly had an "epiphany" that this just was not worth my time and effort.  Sometimes, if the jobs are easy enough to edit, its not a problem, so I tried to keep an open mind going into this, just to see if one could actually break even or make more than straight typing.  HA!  No more 3 cpl for me.  Someone else can do it, but not me.

I talked to the MQ MT lawyers. They promised it would take time to gather evidence.

As any professional deserves to be paid for their time, so do lawyers.  They spent years in college while you probably were doing MT work typing someone else's words and ideas.  Lawyers go to school to develop knowledge of the law and ideas of their own.  Now on the other hand, you seem to have no problems with the CEO(s) of MQ jeopordizing your job by illegal billing of clients all the while bonusing himself and his cronies at your expense.

With all due respect you are full of it.

Unfortunately, he really blew it and she really needs to kick him to the curb.
Sorry.
I think you ought to kick the creep to the curb and be done with him.

Living life like that isn't living life at all.  You need to do what makes you happy.  Never, ever, stay together because of the kids.  Your kids are probably not the happiest children with the home situation the way it is, and you know that he already doesn't want the responsibility of taking care of your kids, so what's the use in having him hanging around your neck like an albatross?

I was married to a jerk who was very similar to your husband and with 3 children it wasn't easy to manage on my own, but I sure did it and I'm glad I did.  It was difficult getting out of my "comfort" (discomfort) zone and make the change, but I knew it had to happen.  That was nearly 5 years ago now and I am happier and my children are happier.  Dear old dad comes around whenever he feels like it to see the kids and I have his paycheck garnished for child support.

Best of luck to you!

Dateline, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Sopranos,

I didn't put up with it! I kicked my ex to the curb because I got tired of dealing with his SM

friends and incessant need to pretend he was a college boy, going to the bars, coming home drunk at 3 o'clock in the morning.  Let me tell, nothing goods from letting your man hang out in bars with his buddies.  NOTHING!  If he needs to have a drink and relax, he can do that at home and the drinks are cheaper!

I can understand that it's hard for you not to give your friend your opinion.  I can't hardly stand to see a woman letting a man treat her badly.  It drives me crazy!  Call me a feminist or a bra burner, but modern women need to get the message that we don't need men so badly we have to put up with all the garbage they hand out!

Breaking news. Bush directs H. Rita to Texas in order to curb illegal Mexicans from entering border.
LOL
Now can we please throw away ....
the AAMT Book of style for Medical Transcription - or better yet, send all of our copies to India.  They will need them more than we will.  We have at least been through grammar school and now that the AAMT book is full of flaws, but because the industry standard is to follow the Book of Style we have had to compromise our teachings by our own education system to do what the "Book" says.  YUCK - I have hated that book.  My aunt was an University English teacher - way smarter than anyone who wrote that book.  I call her for clarification.
I think I see her outside my window!! ;-) nm

Yes, and I believe the responses were to throw the bum out
if he gets even the tiniest bit annoying.  We also can't forget the comments about having a man support us, not having to work and being told what to do.
I might as well throw my opinion in there. sm
There have been so many opinions posted, I might as well give you MY best advice: Call your husband and talk to him. Just be honest. Tell it to him exactly like you told us - that you and the kids have really been missing him and were looking forward to seeing him, and that you were kind of hurt when he said not to come. Be honest with him, and give him a chance to be honest with you. Actually listen to his reasons and try to understand his line of thinking. At the very least, you'll have let him know how you feel, and he deserves to know that and have the chance to explain away your fears. The posters below don't know you, or your marriage, and that's OK because they were trying to help. But bottom line is this - he's your husband and you love each other for a reason. He's not going to want you to spend the next days/weeks feeling bad and he'll take the time to make you feel better.
Don't throw in the towel yet.
I know things may not seem positive right now but look at counseling as a possible way of turning this all around.  Try to get your husband interested in a hobby or something.  It sounds as though he has no zest for life anymore.  If he is not happy with himself it can cause problems in your relationship.
Think I am gonna throw up! ugh! nm

To throw a statement out such as a
single mother just means, again, nothing more than a person working, same as a divorced mother or father but you know, you never hardly hear that term, do you? People don’t go around saying I am a married mother as they do with I am a single mother. I will say again, to me that denotes just another person in the work force, nothing more, nothing less. Seems like you went off the deep end trying to make something out of the fact that I said 1 person working is just like another. No favoritism for anyone in the work field.
alt printscreen for the window you are in..
just regular printscreen for the whole desktop. THEN. Open Paintbox (or Paint, whatever its called) and do Edit/Paste - then save - best to save as a .jpg, then it won't take up as much space as a bitmap (.bmp) - I save all mine in the "my pictures folder) or you can make one special.
Chickadees at my window...
Strangest thing just happened.  A chickadee flew to the window chirping away.  He just kept going away and flying back to the window again chirping loudly.  I finally went out to add more seeds to the feeder.  He then stopped trying to get into the window.  I've never seen anything like it.  I guess I have been trained by a chickadee. lol:)
Why does my Winscribe window

disappear between every radiology job (and that means at least one hundred times a day)?   It falls into the abyss known as the margin.  I have to minimize all other windows for it to peek from the corner where I can grab onto it and drag it back into view...arrrrgh

Long difficult day I am having...

I have a chair next to the window
so the furries can jump up and look out when they wish.

Actually, throw out the BOS and use the physician's preference.
I learned that disc is eyes, disk is computer disk, and disc/disk for back is up to the account preferences.  The doctors do not care what some stupid AAMT BOS book says because it's THEIR notes and they aren't regulated by the AAMT.
When is it time to throw in the towel entirely?

It doesn't work for me to be a fulltime employee for a big national.  However, it doesn't work to be an IC for a small MTSO either.  The obvious middle of the road would be SE for a medium sized company.  However, it seems like that just takes the bad from employee and combines it with the bad from IC.  I wonder if I'll ever find a good place to work.  I should just bag MT entirely.  I know I'm not the best MT or employee.  I'm not perfect.  There are a lot better MTs out there.  I'm not all that bad either.  Maybe I could make a living posting stupid auctions on ebay.

I do not keep anything - pretty much give it away or throw it away.
I have no piles of anything around. I am a neat and tidy "freak". As far as finances, I keep a check book, but could not tell you where every penny went or is. As long as I am within $200 from the actual balance +/-, I am happy. I use MAC card for everything, don't keep much cash in hand, and pay my bills on line most times.

I have a stress free life most days, other than the daily little peaks and valleys related to work. Our family just lives life and we don't sweat the small stuff. It is simple once you get the hang of it. You need to learn to "let go" of "stuff" whether it be monetary things or emotional controlling issues. Be carefree sometimes and just live life to the fullest and stop worrying what anything is "worth". Some things are only worth what someone else is willing to pay for it, and in most cases, it is not much!

I am happy giving things away if someone can use them. It makes your heart feel good to help somebody out once in a while.

So, get rid of all of the "stuff" you have piled up and live carefree for a while. Let me know how it goes! You will be much happier!
Yes - hubby is the pack rat. I throw everything that is not being used out.
After I read the newspaper, it is in the trash. Nothing sits around. Hubby would save everything; however, he works shift work, so when he is at work, I toss things in the trast. My home is neat and clean and everything is in its place all of the time!

Taught my 2 teens to be the same way - Love neat and clean and organized!

My home is not enjoyable if crap is everywhere - in my opinion.
Yes, as below and throw in some black olives

Don't mind me, I just need to throw a little fit and gripe a little!

I HATE HATE HATE this dictator.  This is how he dictates if I were to strictly adhere to the verbatim rules of transcribing:

PROCEDURES PERFORMED: Cysto, retro, uretero with stent placement.

INDICATIONS:  This is a lady who had perc litho by Dr. X.  She had a perc tube. She had a nephro stent.  On the pull of the nephro stent, did an antegrade nephro and apparently had obstruction in the ureter which was a probable stone.  She was set up for a cysto retro Friday, but she ate, so she was set up for this morning. She understands the risks, options, complications, etc.

HE DRIVES ME INSANE!  He has a very conversational style of dictating that makes it incredibly hard to make sense of his reports! He abbreviates everything, makes up his own words, and has been known to dictate one-word sentences!!!!!

We need a firing squad for dictators like this!

Breath in, breath out.  Okay, I'm finished now.  I'm just having one of those days, crappy dictators, communication channels between my brain and my fingers have broken down, and I just need a nap!

Back to work.

Please tell me you are worth working for. That you don't throw
don't only have mush mouths for dictators, that you are not difficult to work for and put ridiculous requirements on us.  I have worked for several people who boasted how wonderful their company, pay was great, but ended up having a slow platform, client specifics the size of telephone books, not enough work and being pushed off onto other accounts that only slow me down even more, to the point that I make practically no money.  Then, on top of that, told that oops my paycheck was going to be late, or it bounced, and given endless excuses.  The door swings both ways doesn't it?
You might throw some visual aids in there too.

l

throw a blustering, indignant fit, though. Maybe

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents
On the GoMDT board, the company proveros was offering an internship.  The pay was going to be 4 cpl for straight transcription and 2 cpl for editing.  Well I have been working now for about 6 months so I am still a newbie but I do have a little bit of experience under my belt now.  I was not interested in the internship but I applied so I could test just to see what the test was going to be like.  This is for an internship, MTs fresh out of school with no experience, so they have no idea what it is like to be working for an MTSO.  I get the test and it's one of those test voice files from the site that a lot of MTSOs use as their testing site, which IMO all of those tests are horrible and I cringe when I try to start taking one of them.  Of course, the file sounds horrible.  There are a lot of words that I can't make out.  The voice quality is horrible compared to where I work at.  I do my best and leave blanks for the words I can't make out.  And you know what?  I failed the test. lol  It just boggles my mind.  Why are they making a test so difficult and hard for newbie mts?  I could understand if this was for a company that requires exp., but this is for an internship.  It just shows how unfair this profession is to people trying to break into it.
HEY, Throw this poor dog a bone?

I am a "newbie", been looking for MT opportunity with no luck.  I would gladly take one of the jobs you didn't like, just for the experience......

At this time, I would just like a job doing Mt but beginning to think this was a mistake.....definitely must not be the same as it used to be.....

AND they are trying to throw in more nit-picky things about what this doc wants...
and this doctor always needs to go to QA and this resident needs an extra signature line and make sure the visit you selected was at the right place and be sure to change this worktype for this doctor because we cannot teach him to do it and we can't tell this doctor that worktype 800 is really not an EEG because we don't think he'll get it and no we can't get the software to recognize a visit ID when its entered and no you cannot start the audio in the document information screen so you can verify the patient and please automatically know when the doctor gives one name at the beginning of the dictation and a different one at the end who he is really typing about and take the following VR sentence and make it a lucid part of a medical report - CT scan guided biopsy performed February refills banding is without mucus brain which is negative.

My VR plan is quickly shaping up like this...take a 20-hour a week job at the local nursing home for full health insurance benefits and find an IC job doing transcription for supplemental income and repeat year after year until ready to be in nursing home.
No, I didn't mean the suggestion window -sm
I meant I deliberately, because I caught myself, for instance, typing CD for common duct because I forgot that I already had used CD for cystic duct and flying along I thought CD was for common duct. Of course, there's C/D ratio too and sometimes you need to type just CD, so I have all of them under CD and I have to pick from a list which one I want in there so I don't screw it up.

You can add messages and remarks. Like if you can't keep straight Celebrex and Cerebyx, you can make little reminders which is which so you don't put the wrong one in.
My cat loves to sit on the window sill too...
I make sure and keep the blinds up some during the day so she can do so. I think she likes sunbathing. My other cat could care less. He's getting older though. He is definitely past the age of wanting to "hunt" anymore. The youngest still trys to get out sometimes, but is generally pretty happy sitting at the window (this was a wild cat rescued out of the woods too BTW). The older one we let in the backyard with us sometimes. He just sits there and walks around some, but that's it. None are allowed outside by themselves though, especially since we just moved and they could run off and get lost easliy.

I've had inside and outside cats my whole life. It is a personal decision and just depends on the circumstances I think.
Isn't there Okay or Accept, etc. at the top on the right at the Ctrl/J window? Need to do that af

You might also try turning off the suggestion window SM
or whatever it is you have for a while. I use Shorthand, but it's pretty much the same thing. That way you could give yourself a list of often-used abbreviations to memorize and get very comfortable with and/or a rule that tells you what a lot of your abbreviations are going to be. As you get comfortable with those few, you'll end up loving them and wanting MORE, MORE, MORE. With that attitude, you can turn the window back on or give yourself yet another list and another rule or two to get used to.

Just think, if you only used abbreciations for the words "the patient" (tp or ?), "hydrochlorothiazide" (hycx or ?), and "blood pressure" (bp or ?) you'd never type those three out again and would be saving that much time with each of them. Start small and unspook yourself.
It's Alt= to make it show in the window. sm
Much easier that way. Don't know anything about Editscript.
Close that window in the task bar....not
by clicking the "x" in the message box.  I was told that when I had my computer cleaned of the AVG thing months ago.  Not all of them, but some of them, have the "x" linked to where it's the same as clicking "yes" to download. Sneaker characters, they are!
Yes, I like to keep things and my husband likes to throw everything out
To me, either keep it, sell it, or give it to charity. He just wants to throw it all out. Sentimental things I do like to keep though. Are you the need one or the pack rat? I just have a problem letting go of things that we might someday use though. I look at it like this, why go and spend the money on it in the future if it can just be stored away until then :)
LOL! Let me just get my steamin' cuppa java to throw!
Seriously, though, H, you are so right. My family were all healthcare support workers (engineering, housekeeping, etc.) and my dad calls hospitals "the shrine of the physician" where all other staff are expected to worship at the altar of their godhood with the VPs and dept. heads expected to lead all the worship services.
Makes me want to throw the computer away and start over

Don't throw up hands in resignation, EDUCATE
yourself. Immigration has been made into a HUGE issue to distract you from what you should REALLY be concerned about: FOREIGN POLICY. If Americans would sacrifice the 30-60 minutes they waste on TV garbage on any given night and actually PARTICIPATE in their own democracy, they'd be shocked and outraged to know WHERE AND WHAT their tax dollars are actually spent on...

Immigration IS a problem, but NOT in the way we've been led to believe.

Okay, lets just throw aside the fact he lives

I did a search in the archives, but the info I found was a little outdated. Thanks for any help you can provide.
