No, I expect nothing on a silver platter.
However, I would expect a response to a request for help to be helpful. Otherwise it is a waste of time for the OP, for other people who read here, and for you.

Based on this post and your others in this thread, I think you are the one that does not get it.
To the Geez: You just want it all served on a silver platter, don't you!.
Can't you figure out the rest by yourself? Obvious not! The rest depends on the Window system, do you get it?

And I was not talking to you!

You know what you are? Two things: One is lazy, the other starts with s and ends with d, that's you!
When a doc says the patient is right-handed or left-handed...sm
What does that matter?  Just curious to know why this is important!
I call for Amanda's head on a platter!

Just kidding!  Geez, people!  Amanda tries a little experiment and shares who results with his and people start jumping on her like a pack of lions on a zebra (okay, I watch too much animal planet).

She makes a very valid point and obviously has hit very close to home for a lot of MTs judging by the tone of the posts below.  Be honest, people!  None of produce near where we would be producing if we were in the office.  In the office, there are no husbands bothering us every five minutes, no kids wanting mommy to do something they are capable of doing themselves, no phone calls from mom or sis to fill us in on the latest gossip.

All Amanda is alluding to is we should all take a little responsibility for our careers and our paycheck.  What's wrong with that?  Sure, sometimes the deck is stacked against us and we aren't being paid what we are worth and the dictators mostly suck.  But a lot of the time, we get interrupted, piddle on the internet, and I myself will get distracted in a good game of Solitaire!

So instead of jumping all over Amanda, take a good long look in the mirror and just accept a little, tiny bit of responsibility for your paltry paycheck.

The silver lining to that statement is -(sm)
that Microsoft said it, so it's headline news. It draws the nation's attention to the problem. If one of our MT companies made that statement, even to the media, no one would notice. Companies all across the U.S. need to be given financial incentives NOT to offshore (such as fines, taxes, etc.) and incentives for keeping their paychecks in America.

Maybe national attention to the selfish practice of cutting U.S. jobs to send them offshore will help us draw attention to our own situation.
The silver lining about the snippy ads is it saves us
or even worse, working for them. Although they're shooting themselves in the foot, those kind of ads are doing US a favor. ;)
Sterling Silver and Niobium mainly, some gold -- mainly earrings....
but I want to get back into it, more in silver though as niobium was more of a fad, but I do like to mix the 2 for the contrast and color. That is probably what I will concentrate on, that and hand made chains (complex but I enjoy doing them a lot). If my husband made 10-15K more a year I could probably concentrate on it FT....but he is already at the cap pretty much for his job, so now IF he gets a raise its basically just cost of living. His company sucks for raises, does not give on merit, just gives everyone the same regardless of how good or bad they are at their job (service engineer for electron microscopes). Well maybe in 5-7 years when the mortgage is paid off .......
Silver Lining: I ran out of money and I'm smoke free

six days with no smokes...also, lost about ten pounds on an involuntary diet.  It's amazing what you can cut out when you're broke...

A really pretty silver picture frame. Its so nice!

Just bought a 2006 convertible BMW - Silver. Love it. nm

But you are the only one who can make that happen. It's not going to be handed SM
to you. You just have to learn to work smarter, and don't sit at some company that's eating you alive. Do it!
It is because the US wants it handed to them. Nobody wants to work 3rd shift.
Maybe if people would work the shift, we wouldnt have to send stuff overseas to get it done overnight.
Actually, we've been handed back that feature.
.
what feature have "we" been handed back?

hahaha! I've been caught red handed!! lol

Your first boss really sealed your fate! You had failure handed to you at the start!
How on earth can you even believe that?? There are thousands of MTs who have worked, and full time, with small children at home.  Boy, talk about an encouraging post! Doom and gloom for sure! The continued negativity of the MTs on this forum is astonishing.  You don't have to spend thousands and thousands of $$ to get an education, and if she's a single Mom, she'll probably qualify for complete financial aid! And the company board the last week has been full of posts from newbie grads who are getting jobs across the board, and good ones! This business is constantly ebbing and flowing, changing, but always is a lucrative career! Come on! And the person below, fg, who is negative 24/7 calls it dog meat??? I'd like to see any comparable career where I work the minimal hours I do and make fantastic $$. And, gee, me, a lowly self-educated CMT! Doom and gloom is yours if you choose it.  From your own post, your first boss set the tone for you, and you accepted it.  Think POSITIVE!
Well, Pattie, think about this. All that family medical history you happily handed over? (sm)
When that information listing family medical history ends up in numerous computer databases, you've effectively hampered your child's future ability to obtain medical insurance, life insurance, and who knows what. Although they may not know anything about the identities of parents and grandparents, they sure do know what medical predisposition insurance companies may think are just too risky to sell a policy. Think about that.
The Red Cross just HANDED OUT $5 million worth of debit cards in Texas.
FEMA decided to mail them in 14 days if the people knew where they were going to be...couldn't possibly get them out faster...too much work...etc.

also....wayyyyy back in the late 60's and early 70's when I actually worked in a doctor's office or hospital, if patient's name was Norman, 75% of the time I typed Normal.  What is really funny....my father's name was Norman Hassell...can you imagine anyone being a "normal hassell"?  Even funnier still, my mother named me Joy....so guess you can say I'm a "happy hassell"!! and a lefty at the same time; people tend to steer clear of me!!!  Have a good day.  Big huge storm moving across our little island right now; got to shut down and unplug everything.
