I would LOVE to be a midwife. Do you know
x
You are probably making more as MT than therapist. I would like to be midwife.

hmm, that sounds normal for an OB but not for a midwife. sm
your welcome. midwives are supposed to be "no intervention" kinda thing. i have had a doc push a baby up that was coming face presentation to see if the baby would come back down the canal the correct way but it didn't work. have never heard of a midwife doing that regardless of the reason and if the baby was already having heart tone issues, in my personal opinion, that could have made things a lot worse@! but again it is hard to question what she did and why without the records so i will stay on the safe side, lol. but i would say no, that is not normal and by that it sounds like maybe it was an urgent transport and she made the wrong choice by not calling ahead of time. i can see her sending them an hour away if it wasn't an emergent situation but not in an emergent situation regardless of how the docs would treat them. we always have hospitals we prefer IF time allows since we know the docs there but when urgent, you go to the nearest place there is and always with a call in to usually unit secretary if not OB on call to let them know what is coming in so they can be ready. but if the baby was having cord/heart tone issues, why the heck would she mess with it and possibly make things worse?? what if the cord was very tight around the neck, she pushed the baby up and that tightened it even more. oh my, that thought is a little scary!!!! nope, not normal to me or any midwives i know. i think our state regulation really helps weed out those who practice unsafely and it should be regulated in every state. also forgot to mention there is NARM, north american registry of midwives, that you can also check into her credentials, etc. with. they also credential us as well as our state. do a Google search for their web address.
Hey ladies, I am a midwife and an MT. However, the money comes from MT sadly. sm
I do midwifery on the side as i love it but i have to keep my 2 MT jobs to keep the bills flowing. I am an LM, CPM so i do not do hospital deliveries. I do homebirth/ birth center deliveries so the pay is less than CNMs would make but a lot of the CNMs these days do all the crap work from the MDs. Best thing with MT is it works around my MW schedule. Love it!! I average about 20-30K on midwifery delivering about 15-20 babies a year. I personally know one that delivers 3-4 a month and averages about 75K but i choose not to be that busy with midwifery til my kids get older as i still need family time. I don't see where to put email in here but if anyone wants info from me, would be happy to share.
I am a midwife and i was attempting to deliver a baby, face presentation, and transferred to hopsita
was working with doc to try to reposition the baby without the face but wasn't successful and ended up with c-section. happy b-day to her!!!
