well i copied them once
when i went from one company that used DQS to another that used it -- the 2nd company helped me copy the files over. Unfortunately i don't know now how we did it. BUT, i tell you this, so you know it can be done (with the right help). Good luck.
Thank you. I copied (sm)
your instructions.  One thing I forgot about is defrag.  Doing that now.  I already run AVG, but I will check out the others you mention.  Thanks again for taking the time to give detailed instructions.
I just copied/pasted
My existing templates into a new document in the facility folder. With each facility you set up you create a template list. I don't think there is a limit on templates, but I may be wrong. There are already some there and I actually just pasted into those and renamed them. I only have a couple per doc though so it didn't take much time.
Still don't know what I did, but I copied and pasted into
a new document and it fixed it.
I have copied and pasted from IRS

guidelines.  If URL does not work, the link is also included so you can paste and copy in your browser.

If you hire an electrician, a painter, or a roofer (as examples of independent contractors), you do not tell them HOW to do their work or WHEN to do their work.  Just try doing so and see how many contractors you can obtain.

Today, we have these large companies not only telling us how to do the work for which we have been trained, but when to do the work (specifically, what days of the week and what hours).  Certainly, the quality of the end product must meet the client's approval or the contract can be cancelled.  It cannot be cancelled on the grounds of not working specific days or hours each day to fulfill that contract.  If you sign a contract specifying you will produce 1000 or 1200 or 1600 lines per day and you meet that production, a client (the MTSO) cannot fault you if you produce the agreed upon lines in 4 hours, 6 hours, 3 days, 2 days, etc.  When requiring you to work a specified schedule of x number of hours producinig x number of lines, then it becomes employee-employer status, not one of client-independent contractor status.

Also note the evalutation system below.  I would saying doing QA in evaluating a contractor's performance is an evaluation system.  Would you?  What about being  put on probation or fined (as some companies are now doing)?  Does that point to employee status?  Can you put a roofing contractor on probabtion or issue a fine?

And...just read the section on training.  An eyeopener for certain.

Below are the guidelines.  I say we ICs start filling out the misclassified workers form.  If we are treated as employees, then we need tax relief.  If MTSOs provide employee status in some states and not others, AS WELL AS hiring ICs, then an IC cannot be required to adhere to the policies and procedures that their employees are required to adhere, and that includes WHEN the work will be performed and HOW it will be performed.  The guidelines are clear.

I'm not afraid of broaching this subject for fear jobs will go to a third world country.  They are going there at a rate faster than the speed of lightning anyway, and nothing we as ICs or employees can do will stop it.  They are going there because it is a cheap, cheap way of doing business.

Independent Contractor

The general rule is that an individual is an independent contractor if (the person for whom the services are performed) has the right to control or direct only the result of the work, and not what will be done and how it will be done or method of accomplishing the result.

People such as lawyers, contractors, subcontractors, public stenographers, and auctioneers who follow an independent trade, business, or profession in which they offer their services to the public, are generally not employees. However, whether such people are employees or independent contractors depends on the facts in each case. The earnings of a person who is working as an independent contractor are subject to Self-Employment (SE) tax.

Evaluation System

If an evaluation system measures the details of how the work is performed, then these factors would point to an employee.

If the evaluation system measures just the end result, then this can point to either an independent contractor or an employee.

Training

If the business provides the worker with training on how to do the job, this indicates that the business wants the job done in a particular way.  This is strong evidence that the worker is an employee. Periodic or on-going training about procedures and methods is even stronger evidence of an employer-employee relationship. However, independent contractors ordinarily use their own methods.

Misclassified Workers Can File Social Security Tax Form
Workers who believe they have been improperly classified as independent contractors by an employer can use Form 8919, Uncollected Social Security and Medicare Tax on Wages to figure and report the employee’s share of uncollected Social Security and Medicare taxes due on their compensation. See the full article Misclassified Workers to File New Social Security Tax Form for more information.

I copied and pasted the reports
into Chartscript.net. I didn't even bother typing the original in Chartscipt, just typed everything in word and then copied over. I also use ShortHand and there were always missing letters in my shortcuts when I plugged them in. I no longer work on CS but am on one that is just about as bad.

We were told not to use the Expander in Chartscript at all and whenever I tried to change/save something in there it would not let me so it was usless anyway. I did have to turn off that expander and remember to turn it back on before pulling in the next template though as you stated.

The only way I have found to accomplish any production at all with the last 3 platforms I have been on is to type in Word then copy over to the platform. And that works until the system totally freezes, or you get kicked off........*sigh*

If companies are going to expect a certain amount of production each day I sure wish they had platforms that would help us accomplish that!
Full Core means full CPR code.

In Windows, how do I check my computer's IP address or physical (aka MAC) address?

Windows NT, 2000, and XP

To see what IP address, default gateway, and subnet mask your computer is using:

  1. Click the Start button and select All Programs (XP) or Programs (NT and 2000).

  2. Select Accessories, then Command Prompt (2000 and XP), or Command Prompt (NT).

  3. At the command prompt, enter: ipconfig
  4. To close the command prompt, enter: exit

For other IP information on Windows, including the physical address, at the command prompt, enter:

ipconfig /all | more

This will give you information regarding your computer's TCP/IP setup, including:

Host name
DNS servers
Physical address
IP address
Subnet mask
Default gateway
WINS servers

The IP address will be a series of numbers following the pattern xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, for example, 156.56.27.32.

The physical address, which many people call the MAC address, will be a series of six hexadecimal number pairs following the pattern xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, for example, 00-40-A4-F3-C0-01.

Note: If you have more than one active network adapter, you will see multiple entries here. Many laptop users nowadays have at least two adapters: one for the regular Ethernet adapter, and one for the wireless 802.11b or 802.11g card. Some computers will have three entries or more (for example, for either an infrared or a Bluetooth adapter). Sometimes it's easy to distinguish between the two (for example, one of them will say "wireless" next to "Description:"), but other times it's not (the description will give only a manufacturer and model). You may have to consult the manufacturer's documentation for your computer to tell which section of the ipconfig/all | more output refers to which network adapter.

Windows XP, without using the command prompt

Alternatively, in Windows XP, if you want to find this information and want to stay within the graphic user interface, or for any reason do not want to use DOS commands, you can find this information by doing the following:

  1. Right-click the My Network Places icon, and then select Properties.

  2. Double-click the Local Area Connection icon. Occasionally, there will be a number on the end (e.g., Local Area Connection 2); it depends on your computer's configuration. If you are looking for the MAC address for a wireless adapter, the icon will normally be named Wireless Network Connection.

  3. Click the Support tab.

  4. Click the Details... button.

The physical address (MAC address) and IP address will be listed in the window that appears.

Windows 95, 98, and Me

To check your computer's IP address or physical address, follow the steps below:

  1. Click the Start button and select Run... .

  2. Type winipcfg and click OK.

  3. From the drop-down menu, select the adapter being used for your connection:

    • Select PPP Adapter if you're dialing in.

    • Select the Ethernet adapter if you're connected to a LAN or a broadband connection.

    • Select the wireless adapter if you're connected via wireless.

The IP address will appear in its labeled field. The MAC address will appear in a field labeled Adapter Address.

Alternatively, you may follow these steps:

  1. Click the Start button and select Settings, then Control Panel.

  2. Double-click Network. Select TCP/IP, then click Properties.

The IP address appears under the IP Address page tab.

Note: If you are using Dial-up Networking (i.e., PPP) or DHCP (campus housing at Indiana University Bloomington uses DHCP), the IP address is dynamically assigned by the terminal server, and Obtain an IP address automatically should be selected.

Note: You can use the Get Connected web site to register your Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Home, Windows Vista, or Mac OS X (10.3 and later) computer to use the IU network in campus housing. Computers running Windows 2000 or Linux, as well as game consoles, must be manually registered. For help, contact the UITS Support Center at IUB by calling 812-855-6789 or at IUPUI by calling 317-274-4357. You cannot register Windows 95, 98, or Me on the IU network in campus housing.

Internet based transcription - need advice on how to go internet
Can anyone offer any help/advice on how go about becoming internet based from a call in system, or how to keep the call in system for the docs and put transcriptionists on the internet?  Not sure where to start to get information on how to go about doing this. Any help will be appreciated.  Thanks.
If you want to work on the internet from home, take an internet course
But only from Andrews School or M-TEC. Many companies will waive the 2-years' experience requirement and will test and hire you if you go to either of those schools. Do NOT bother with At Home Professions, Penn Foster, US Career Institute, or ESPECIALLY Trans-Am, which is also known as Trans-SCAM and is a total ripoff. You will have a VERY difficult time getting hired without experience unless you choose Andrews School or M-TEC. Yes, they cost more, but that's because they are excellent training programs, not "correspondence courses."
I think I smell either VR on the easy stuff, or offshoring of the easy stuff.

Yes, I read your post, and I just re-read it, and I've copied and pasted for you in case

you've forgotten your own words! Your post above is 100% different "flavor" to it, now all positive and cheery! Your first post was 100% doom and gloom every which way, including "raining on your parade", and "if you want to go forward"...God, sounds like she's talking about jumping into oncoming traffic! Here is your quote:

My first boss (the one who hired me as a new grad) gave me some words of wisdom that I haven't forgotten. She said that transcribing at home with small children NEVER works under any circumstance. Either the work will suffer or the parenting will suffer.

****

How can the word "NEVER" in caps be interpreted in any positive way? You took about 8 paragraphs to cover every aspect and completely dash this poor woman's dream.  I'm not blind, I'm not talking about day care at all, I'm talking about the total negativity of your original post! You know exactly what I'm talking about, cause you added some sugar to your second version! And that's much nicer than the first!

Excellent post! I copied this post and...
am going to show it to my shrink so he can understand my frustration with my new "profession!" By the way, how much you wanna bet he pulls in 300$ an hour and has two years of schooling on me! Hmmmmmmm. Okay, you flamers, don't tell me to go back to school...I am thinking about it. Hmmmm
I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.

Go to the Food Network website and in the search box, type "cheese straws". You'll have a choice of many different recipes, but I think the one your mom is looking for using a cookie press is the recipe for "Zesty Cheese Straws" by Paula Deen.
Thanks for the recipe
I am going to try it, it sounds wonderful.

NORMAN POTATO SALAD WITH APPLES

The sweet crispiness of the apples and the tang of vinegar give this potato salad a special lift. It's named after Normandy, famous for its apples and for its apple brandy, Calvados.

2 pounds yellow-fleshed potatoes such as Yukon Gold
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 Granny Smith apples
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 cup apple juice
1/2 cup well-chilled heavy cream
1/2cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh flat-leafed parsley leaves
1 teaspoon Calvados (French apple brandy; optional) freshly ground black pepper to taste

In a 3-quart kettle cover potatoes with cold salted water by 2 inches and simmer until potatoes are tender but resist when pierced with a fork, about 20 minutes. Drain potatoes in a colander. When potatoes are just cool enough to handle, peel and cut into 1/4-inch-thick rounds. While potatoes are still warm, layer one third in a large serving dish or bowl and drizzle with 1 tablespoon vinegar. Season potatoes with salt and pepper. Continue layering in same manner with remaining potatoes and vinegar, seasoning with salt and pepper. Peel, quarter, and core apples. Cut quarters crosswise into 1/8-inch-thick pieces and in a bowl toss with lemon juice. In a small saucepan simmer apple juice until reduced to about 3 tablespoons. In a bowl beat cream until it just holds soft peaks and gently but thoroughly fold in reduced apple juice, mayonnaise, parsley, Calvados, and pepper. Season sauce with salt and gently toss together with potatoes and apples.

Serves 6 as a side dish.

Recipe...
I don't follow an exact recipe, but this is what I do. I chop up in a food processer some onion, (half and seeded) jalapeno, tomatoes and cilantro and then add my avacados. I also mix in garlic, chipolte seasoning, salt, pepper and cumin. Everybody loves it.
recipe

This is a recipe for chicken tetrazzini which sounds similar.

8 oz cooked/drained spaghetti, cooked chicken cut up, 1-3/4 C grated cheddar cheese - divided, 4 tbsp. Parmesan cheese, 2 oz jar of diced pimento, 1 small onion, minced, 1 can cr. of mushroom soup, 1/2 C chicken broth, salt and pepper to taste

Combine 1-1/2 C cheese, 2 tbsp. Parmesan and all other ingredients with spaghetti.  Place in greased casserole dish and sprinklewith remaining cheese.  Bake 350 for 45 mins.

You can use turkey or chicken for this.

No recipe here but

I have cut out potatoes, rice, breads, ice cream, etc. for almost 2 weeks and have lost 4 pounds.  I did South Beach a couple years ago but it takes too much preparation and planning, although I did lose 20 pounds without excercising.  You may want to try the South Beach Diet Cookbook.

I hated to exercise but now I've joined the Y - and really liking it.  I try to go everyday to a beginning exercise class and/or Pilates.  If I don't make the class, I try to do 30 minutes on the treadmill.

I have put off doing this for many, many years and can't believe how much better I feel.  It's alot easier to put on weight then take off, but I refuse to get discouraged.  I have lost alot of strength around my waist and lower back (pouchy tummy), but Pilates is helping that.  I work at my own pace which the instructor encourages us all to do.

Here's the recipe!

Chicken Broccoli Braid

12 oz. cooked chicken, chopped (2 cups - about
3 cooked boneless skinless chicken breast halves)
1 C. broccoli, chopped
1/2 C. red bell pepper, chopped
1 clove garlic, pressed
4 oz. sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded (1 cup)
1/2 C. mayonnaise
2 tsp. All-purpose Dill Mix (or 1 teaspoon dillweed)
1/4 tsp. salt
2 pkg. (8 oz. each) refrigerated crescent rolls
1 egg white, lightly beaten
2 T. slivered almonds

Preheat oven to 375ºF.

Chop chicken and broccoli and place in bowl. Add chopped red bell pepper. Press garlic over mixture and shred cheese over mixture. Add mayonnaise, dill mix and salt. Mix well.

Unroll package of crescent rolls. Do not separate. Arrange longest sides of dough across width of 12 x 15-inch pan and repeat with remaining package of dough. Roll out dough to seal perforations. On long side of pan, cut dough into strips 1 1/2 inches apart, 3 inches deep leaving approximately 6 inches in the center of dough for filling. Spread filling evenly over middle of dough.

To braid: lift strips of dough across mixture to meet in center, twisting each strip one turn. Continue alternating strips to form braid. Tuck ends under to seal at ends. Brush egg white over dough and sprinkle with almonds. Baked 25-28 minutes or until deep golden brown.

Eggplant recipe
I love this one. Wash and cut the eggplant into about one inch pieces (leave skin on). Wet it and put it in a colander and put salt all over it. Let it sit for about an hour in the colander in your sink. Rinse the salt off really well, pat the eggplant dry with paper towels, and brown it in olive oil and garlic. Add it to your favorite sauce and add 1 cup of dry red wine to the sauce. Simmer until the wine is reduced down and the sauce thickens back up. If you don't want wine in the sauce it works well without it too but you should simmer it for about an hour. Serve over pasta and use fresh grated parmesean or romano cheese if you like. It's good stuff! The part about the salt is that it keeps the eggplant firm and flavorful and moist during cooking. Enjoy!
chicken recipe
The recipe says 2 toss of garlic. Is it suppose to be 20 toes of garlic since you call this 20-garlic chicken? Thanks for your help.
