So what do we do, not trust?
I too went cross country twice at 17 and 19.  Met lots of good people.  It is just an unfortunate thing that happened and you cannot blame the girl.  So what do we do, not trust men anymore?  This boy and his two friends know what happened.  My prayers and thoughts are with Natalees family.
Hi Trust Me...
If you send me your e-mail address we can talk off-line. We have been with MDI about the same time. Do you do radiology or acute care? I do acute care and this winter we had a lot of weekend bonuses on my account which was short staffed. If you post a question like below on this site, you will not get the answers you need. I am sure I can help you if you send me your e-mail.
Trust me, there is nothing
that anybody can post on this board or any board that would make me feel any less self worth.  If anything, reading some of this idiotic remarks gives me a feeling of increases self worth.  Furthermore, the name that carries over with each post can be changed at any time.
DO NOT TRUST JLG
Don't trust JLG, they are very dishonest and present themselves as above board. But they are not. Beware!!
You don't want to know....trust me
YUCK! JMO
Trust me when I say
That there are some MTs out there who DO NOT care. They do not take pride in their work, do not do the research and no matter how many times you tell them specific websites to use and other tools to use, they WILL NOT use them.

Most MTs are not this way and I think most QA realize this, but you have to understand that there are a handful of them (I deal with about 5 out of my 60-70 MTs) that are just ridiculous.

Yes, I can put in perspective and realize that it is part of the job but it does get frustrating sometimes!

MTs complain day in and day out about their horrible dictators and I think that you have to give QA the outlet to sometimes complain about the careless/non-caring MTs that they have to deal with as well.

There, I'm done. :-)
You act like that's the only job out there. It's not, trust me.
nm
It will get much better, trust me on this. sm
It's much easier to relearn a skill than to learn a new one. You're just out of practice with your typing speed, that's all. And from what I hear, VR involves a different (very) use of an MT's skills than straight typing. As for the ESLs, some are better than others, and some good ole boy Americans are worse than any ESL I ever ran across back in the days when I was working.

Give yourself a little time to adjust to all this. If you find after a certain period of time--say, a couple of months?--that you still loathe the work, why, you can start looking for another job. :) Or check and see if you can start doing VR at least part time with your present company. Best of luck!
No one would trust that everyone
else would stop working too, so no one will do it. It was one thing when factory workers in a specific plant would decide something of that nature, but we are all over the place and have no contact other than this. How do you think that would ever work!?
I don't use any websites--
I use Stedman's Radiology Words 3rd ed.and it has just about any word you'll need.
some websites for you :)

Is there any websites

that show over the counter medicine names and homeopathic medical names out there. Have searched some and found some, but would really like a complete listing if possible.

Thanks

Websites?

Could you possibly recommend some websites?  Or maybe books?  Any help much appreciated.

Anybody know of any websites sm
for reference material for Cardiology?  I do strictly cardiology right now and lots and lots of cardiac caths, TEEs, Echos, Holters, PTCAs, etc.  Would be nice to have a website with just cardiology stuff.
Trust your instincts. You know best
what your needs, abilities and interests are. If you need or want to explore another career path, why not?
I would suggest some vocational testing either online or in person. Check around your city for vocational services. Whatever you do, don't let yourself feel trapped. Good luck.
Trust your instincts. If you don't think
they have their act together and can't find any other info, keep looking. Good luck.
Yes...trust her. It's beautiful! NM
NM
How well do you trust management
I would be concerned that they are getting their ducks in a row to outsource.
I do that with the hospital websites, too.
But I'm lazy.  I'd rather keep a browser window open or save the list to text format and use the search feature than print it out, find my notebook, and hunt through a hardcopy.
Always go to the manufacturer's websites and use it they way they have it!
It is DERMABOND - all caps. The Stedman's books are incorrect.

I know for a fact, as I even called the manufacturer on the telephone to clarify. I was so annoyed because my QA person just kept changing it to lower case - until now of course when I cleared that up.
What are some helpful websites?

I have found some very helpful websites by browsing the boards here.  Just wondering if some of you may have favorites you use.

My most helpful for finding bacteria is listed below.

Great websites (sm)
Thanks for those websites.  Out of necessity, I am able to do pretty well with my grocery bill.  I checked the sites you listed and there is some great information--I learned a few tricks!  Speaking from experience, it doesn't get any easier when you are in a bind.  I've lived this way for a very long time since I am a single mom.  Things just manage to work out and everything manages to last just as long as you need it.  Thanks again for the tips.
You should research other websites because sm
Most of the information in the article doesn't coincide with any of the Biblical principles followed by the Christian churches in America today. Throughout the entire Bible, old and NT, we are taught to refrain from witchcraft, mediums, those who speak to the dead, or any kind of honoring of the dead. Christians are only to pay homage to God through Jesus Christ.
You can check out these websites...

Or you could always call around to local offices to find out what they charge.  Good luck.

Try manufacturers' websites
I have the newest Stedman's CV book, but things change so fast in this field that even it is behind.  Sometimes I find it easier to check manufacturers' websites for a listing of their newest products and then I bookmark it.  Here are some companies to try:  Medtronic, Guidant, Bard, Boehringer Mannhein Corporation, Boston Scientific Corporation, Cordis, Datascope, Kontron, Marquette Electronics Inc., and St. Jude Medical Co.  These aren't just for catheters; they make pacemakers/AICDs, leads, guide wires, stents, balloon pumps, EKG machines, heart valves and the like.  I know there are more, but this is what came to mind on the fly.  If you have Stedman's Medical and Surgical Equipment Words, they have a listing in the back of medical manufacturers and their web addresses if you'd like to do more looking around.
Physician Websites

Here are a couple good ones:

I ran across this website and hope that it might some out there.

MT chats? websites for?
Hi, are there any medical Transcriptionist chat rooms?  the board is fun, I just want to chat live.
Any ESL websites or resources?
I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good websites (or other resource) where I could listen to dictators/speakers who have accents?  I am not really crazy about that idea, but want to try to better learn them so that I can do my job better when I get ESLs or even striking regional accents around the US.  Any advice is appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
Try the company websites
A lot of the companies will advertise on their web sites the range of prices that they offer clients.  That may be a good place to start.
Go on the websites and search them
Some of them still have XP available. Another poster said they though Dell still gives you this option. I know for a fact that they do but you must factor in that they most likely will be downgrading a Vista computer to XP for you and so it may take a little longer to get it shipped, so I hope you don't need it in a hurry.

Whatever it is that you are doing, I would suggest you do it soon. I just did a bunch of computer shopping myself, and have been told numerous times that XP is on its way out around July this year in prep for the new Windows 7 platform.

I hope all these companies have decided what they are going to do with that situation. I know my company ran on Windows 98 until Microsoft wouldn't support it anymore, and then the new platform they had come out was compatible with XP. I hope they will make them compatible with newer OS because choices are going to become limited really soon.

You might call the tech people at the company and see what they have to say. Will your platform work with Vista at all? I have a platform that will, but only with the 32-bit version and not the 64-bit version. And, let me just tell you, that is a real headache to find.

I wish you the best of luck on this. I know exactly what you are going through because I was just there.
go to HP or Dell websites - sm
I bought a laptop last summer. these two still sell computers with XP and a licence for Vista to do the cross-over.

Call the 800 lines and ask quesitons.
I hope your trust proves to be well placed.
And I'm glad to know you have looked into their background so that you can feel more comfortable with your decision to be charitable. Keeping you in my prayers. I wish you were my neighbor. For one thing, I like Shelties. For another, you seem like a person I would be proud to call a friend (and you'd set a very good example for my family--me included!).
Trust me, I thought about it, but yappy seems mean.

I don't want to get bitten.  And who knows what the "door lockers" would do if I actually stepped foot in their yard.

I'm giving it another week and then I'm calling the animal control officer that works for our local Humane Society so that he can come over and talk to them. No names involved that way and I've had neighbors all around tell me they can't stand it either.

Poor little pup.  I can't imagine tying my dog out like that.  Like I said in my earlier post, I wouldn't even get a dog until the backyard was fenced in.  He also has a "doggy door" and has been very well trained.  Even if he does get out of the fence if someone leaves the gate open, he sits and whines (not barks) at the door as if to say, "Helloooo, I'm not supposed to be out here."

AND, despite the fenced in backyard, we take our dog for walks too. The yard is only so big and he needs regular exercise.

Some people just shouldn't be allowed to have a dog.

I don't trust myself. I set the clock or I know I'd wake up 4 hrs later.

Also, wondering if people trust him...sm
The mayor said he said, "get out," but alot of people did not. Don't know too much about this mayor, but maybe his people don't trust him. But then again, maybe the people in that area just hear the words "evacuate" alot, and nothing really happens, so they ignore the warning.

I can understand how alot of people did not leave. I'm talking about those who did not have cash, access to a car, or those who have no relatives elsewhere. I've got a family now, but in my single days, faced with those restrictions, I probably wouldn't have known what else to do but stay.

The people I'm wondering about are the ones who rode that horrendous storm out, have flooded houses even long after the hurricane passed, but still want to stay in their house, and not be rescued. I don't think they really know the conditions or understand the problems to come.

Just me, but did anyone else cringe every time the major said the G-D word? I can stand most curse words, but G-D is my most hated word. I understand that this mayor wanted to get his thoughts emphasized, but I don't think there's ever a reason to say G-D, and on public TV no less!
Trust me, I wouldn't transfer -
I just wanted to know where this LA la land was. I wasn't trying to be nasty. I am very frustrated with all this BS going on. The the majority are unhappy and a handful of happy people - doesn't make sense. If they would operate every office the same, it would certainly cut down on the unhappy versus happy MTs. I'm glad your happy and got an awesome account - I felt that way about them for many, many years. I am not miserable with them, I just think that we should be treated as people and every office equal.
For one thing, no car until she gets a job AND EARNS your trust and the car.
If she's going to lie and teach her little brother to lie, she's setting a bad example and needs to be punished, not rewarded. As for drawing trashy boys, does she have low self-esteem and dress and act trashy? She reaps what she sows.
He loves me despite my faults and I know I can trust him.
:)
I don't trust disk cleanup

A lot of times it will list files for removal that really shouldn't be removed - I would rather err on the side of caution and remove things myself.

But that's just me.

That is weird. Sounds like there are trust
s
I wouldn't trust this at all! I'm shocked you do!
Talk about inviting trouble in the door!

I don't like Vista's search either. I don't trust it. sm
I am using Google Desktop and I have used Copernic. Both fast. As far as the Help feature in Vista, it isn't good because the help feature in XP wasn't and they didn't do much to improve it. Otherwise, I like Vista fine. It just takes some getting used to like switching to any new operating system.
5 cpl is an excellent rate to do VR. Trust me...
I have been offered anywhere from 1.5 cpl to a whopping 4 cpl, even with years of experience until I found Transcend. I like my job with them a lot and they pay the best for editing. The work can get sporadic on a few accounts and I suspect this is because they sending it to India. This is something they do not hide. I'm not anti-India or anything, but I would like assurance that I have work, which is tricky sometimes.
Well then probably you need to find a group of MTs who you know and trust...
because unfortunately when you get people who don't know each other this will happen...
I manage my former boss's websites (he has 2), --
other than that, sell some stuff I don't need anymore on ebay now and then...did about $200 a month for about a year.....got rid of most everything though I really wanted to dump...have a few things now I need to list so maybe I will get lucky this month!
Two awesome reference websites.....sm

Tons of info and links.

I found some interesting websites the other day.
The Offshoring List of Shame

Rescue American Jobs

The Offshore Job tracker listing the worst offenders for offshoring in 2004-2005.

HireAmerica

Rural Sourcing (uses rural Americans for labor)
http://www.ruralsource.com/index.asp?pageToInclude=index

We have a local call center in our city and they ran an ad to hire home-based call center workers. That's cool, instead of offshoring.

I already closed the credit cards, canceled my insurance policy, and rewrote my mortgage with a local bank. It's just tough to boycott all of them. The list of companies that offshore is huge!

People say we need a global economy, but what jobs are going to be left for American workers after everything goes overseas? We can't all be CEOs or doctors.
MTStars/Legal websites?
Hi, does anyone know of a similar website to MTstars (with forums and job board) for legal transcription? Google didn't really help. Thanks. javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
The local hospitals probably have websites and you
can see if they have any transcription openings posted, look in the classifieds to see if any clinics are hiring, etc.  I don't know that there are very many MT companies with in-house people anymore, but you can post resume on the various job boards.
