You probably shouldn't waste your breath

You are so right.

How one finds themselves in a desperate situation like this is irrelevant.

I just can't help but think people who have the mentality of the poster to whom you responded are the same who claim to be Christians and Right-To-Lifers. I guess you only have the right to live if you're in the womb and not a sinner.

These people were totally disregarded as human. Make your bed mentality, have versus have not mentality, and as the poster below said, plantation mentality.

Then you shouldn't waste the time sm

going on the cruise if you are going to have to worry about work even if it takes you no time at all to get it done.  When you have an opportunity for rest and relaxation you need to take it.   It will be more trouble having to worry with the work on vacation.   I agree... see if someone locally does MT and get them to do it while you are gone.  Have them sign a contract or something so that you don't have to worry about your accounts.   Or I would be they would hold their dictation and let you do it when you got back.   NO WAY should you take the work with you.   If you have been with them for 5 years, you have already proven your worth.   Chances are if you tell them you are going to take a short vacation since you haven't in 5 years, they will respond and so go, we will hold it til you get back.

Good luck, enjoy yourself!!

No.. breath the same air you say!

Don't hold your breath
Never has for anyone I know anyway (myself included)
I'm holding my breath!
I want Taylor to win so badly!!!!  He even looked adorable in that awful jacket he had on for his first song.  Can't wait to hear his last song--on the edge of my seat.  Breathe, breathe, breathe.  I think I may hyperventilate!
Take a deep breath
and go in and be completely honest about the situation. Perhaps asking your boss for a little help with a note about how important you are on the job, blah, blah, might help if possible. I don't think all is lost - a jurist who is so worried about work that she/he cannot concentrate on the matter at hand is not really helpful to the system. If you get to the place where you are questioned, you may be asked if there is anything that would influence how you might interpret the case, or some other question that may open the door for an honest statement about the situation. Also, if there is a good reason (other than plain old procrastination) why you did not respond to the JD notice earlier, you should absolutely pursue this avenue as well. Good luck.
Again...you are a breath of fresh air

A breath of fresh air. Thank you.

Now, no more odors from the mushroom house, please.

Take a deep breath
An apology would be nice, but for now, isn't it obvious (and enough) that she knows she messed up? You know it, she knows it, she knows you know it, & you know she knows it.

You may never get a flat-out apology, but who cares? She did the next best thing, considering she was probably pretty embarrassed. Not everyone is able to articulate remorse at the same moment they are feeling humiliated. Maybe later, or not. Move on.

Breath of fresh air?
Working under these circumstances will not give you time to breathe!
Yes, he was out of breath - could hardly get words out - it was disgusting
nm
yeah, shall we hold our breath? *lol*..sm

it said there - they would be choosing only TWO winners.....*lol* - we probably were NOT the first two to do the test, eh?  *giggles*

You are welcome - you are like a breath of fresh, unpolluted air! (nm)

I just take a deep breath and get through it. I have a high

percentage of ESL dictators, though most are very good.  I have one American born dictator who is horrendous and he will dictate 15+ minute reports and yawns all the way through them, but he keeps dictating as he is yawning.  He also can't figure out what to say and just keeps dictating so trying to figure out what is good dictation and what isn't is a job.   If I have him first thing it can ruin my whole day, so I have just gotten where I take a deep breath, tell myself I have to get through it to go to the next one and it usually goes quickly once I adjust my attitude.

Hayseed, take a deep breath...
You've just reached the boiling point. How have you put up with this as long as you have? Yes, you'll still have your job. I think some companies like to see how far they can push someone, and the more you do, the more they want you to do. But they do not want to lose a great employee such as you.

I seldom post here but I always look for your posts because you're entertaining and enlightening. That may not mean much to you right now but I know you're going to get a lot of responses saying the same thing.

So take that deep breath. If necessary, maybe send a more calmly worded email to your boss stating things much as you did in your post here, especially the 2nd paragraph. It's very succinct and gets your points across. Now you hang in there. It's going to be okay.
Take a deep breath and relax!!!!!
You are feeling what every MT feels, newbie, experienced or old-timer. I have been doing MT for 8 years and still crack myself up with some of the mistakes I make. The fact that you are rereading and finding your mistakes is good. In time you will start to not make as many mistakes and your speed will improve. Quality over quanitity was what I was always told. Unless you are working for a company that is pushing you for turnaround time, just relax and you will be fine. If you are working for a company that is pushing for turnaround time and not as worried about quality, I would begin looking for a better company. MTs need time to build their skill and no company can expect you to know everything in only two years of experience.

Heck, in my 8 years, I still look things up, read, re-read and still sometimes have to leave a blank or ask the doc for clarification. That does not make me a bad MI but in most cases a better MT because in this business, we can not afford to guess what the answer is.

God Bless.
you obviously can't type and breath at the same time???

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting on their
I have a glitch with mine and waited a month and a half, not wanting to be pushy. This was after I telephoned and spoke with the girl from Textware that posts here sometimes, told her what my problem was and that I had sent an e-mail through their website and not heard back within a few days. She told me to send her the glossary I was having trouble with, and I e-mailed it both as a reply to her, in accordance with her instructions for sending, and also e-mailed again to tech support through my own e-mail provider. Anyway, I finally contacted again and she was going to be out for a couple of days, and though another person did try to help, I have been too busy to mess with it, but was irritated that I was told they did not receive my e-mails (I still have them in my box) and Kristen did not bother to call and let me know they did not receive it, even though I had taken the time to call her and explain my problem after the first unsuccessful e-mail. Sorry, I guess I needed to vent about that . . .

Anyway, if you have your glossaries saved and are sure you won't lose anything, I would uninstall and reinstall if it were me.
Will not hold my breath on being acknowledged for the years
and really I am to the age where I really don’t mind, just the money I make is fine. My hubby works union for a company and has some seniority so that is a good thing, at least does not have to buy his gas nor pay for repairs, etc. on his vehicle. At my present job if the work is down low, I am at a point where now I can take off some and usually do, knowing there are people like me who in the past really needed to work and I defer to their needs. Like I said, been there. One difference I see with these jobs now is in the past we did not run out of work all the time but now these companies do. I would never enter a business like this now because so iffy. Took a while for my training and glad I made living at it but it is not really good now. I probably would have 6 or 7 jobs going now to make what I did with full and part in the past.
Jewelsy, you're a breath of fresh air (sm)

I appreciate your experience and insight!  I agree about clinic work being boring; so is radiology.  And VR/speech rec has really taken over radiology and clinic, the same for EMR.  I know it's going to be a huge challenge for a few months, but I'm up for the challenge!  Plus I've done interventional radiology-type transcription (minimally invasive procedures) with really tough dictators, so I have a bit of a heads up.

Thanks again!  I'd like to update you in my transition late this summer.

Took deep breath, several, now feeling faint!
Just kidding but am getting weary of thinking today. I was wrong at first- all need to underline this- husband says I never say I was wrong but anyway I have Infinity foot pedal, only 1 port to hook up monitor and no other port for my foot pedal. I got splitter today, will not work as had 2 female ends and I need 1 female and 1 male. This might be a repeat but again, old folks do this. Thanks everyone for all you have written, really appreciate all and still searching in case anyone else knows something different.
Got my chuckle for the night, doc talking about breath sounds - sm
and how the lungs were clear, etc. then the next sentence is "the patient is currently not breathing", just funny after the previous sentences on his lung sounds.  Also diagnosed at age 2, however the child is only 14 months old, hmmm, nice trick there!  Presume he means 2-months but will have to question it though since he did not say!
Possibly your autorecovery file, but I would not hold my breath unless -
you have it set up to do auto saves every few minutes or so. This feature has saved my butt a few times.
I agree. I found him to be very sexy. He'd always take my breath completely away!

Waste of $$ (sm)
If you've been an MT for many years, why are you wasting your time & money on a CMT exam? If you read up on it in these forums, you will see that it's nothing but a ripoff. So is AAMT. What matters is your own skill and proficiency, which can be proven. A bunch of letters after someone's name proves NOTHING, which became obvious repeatedly in my office, when "CMT" people proved to be incompetent, and yet older, more experienced non-CMT's (who had usually been around since before those people figured out that ripoff scheme...) turned out to be our best workers. If I were you, I'd use the money on references, or a new computer, etc., rather than wasting it on that worthless test.
re: Waste of $$(sm)
Your opinion of being a CMT or of AAMT was not solicited nor warranted as it was not even asked. The original question was not to seek out someone's biased opinion.
do not waste with another course
you're in, do your time, learn and find another place later.
Now THAT was not a waste of
x
YOU DID NOT WASTE
TEST FOR THE BIG COMPANIES. I work for Diskriter, test for them. Someone will give you a shot. I started out 18 years ago with no pay at the hospital as a trainee, and here I am today as a QA/editor/account manager for a large MTSO. Never say never, just have to keep knocking until right door opens for you.
LOL It would be more of a waste to sue
They have the right to set any standard they want as an association.

Doing VR I waste most
of my time putting in and correcting PUNCTUATION.
What a misery!
Don't waste your money just yet.......sm
There is no way of knowing what equipment you'll need until you get hired.  Unless you can afford to buy everything and anything, don't concern yourself with it until you know what your new company requires.  There is no rush.  You can buy whatever you need on line and get it within a day to two.
The letter was a waste of

who wrote it and are now trying to make it smell better.

and it was a waste of the time for the MT who got it.

All these silly pre-letters and anticipated packages that nobody can tell you what is in them or what they are about, and 1/cent checks being mailed out to people, just make MQ look really foolish from a business standpoint.  If they were trying to run people off, they did a darn good job.  And if they weren't trying, then whoever thought of this business strategy, needs to go rework it.  Because in my case it  was the final obtuse act by a smarmy company that helped me make the decision to invest my experience in the competition.

Don't waste your time there
Very unprofessional. Outdated system. Lacks work. I resigned shortly after getting hired, and I gave them the 2 wks' notice, still worked during those two weeks, mailed an invoice, and still has not received my pay.
Don't waste your money!
There's nothing in that guy's books that you probably don't already know about, or can easily find out about...free!

I do "secret shopping" sometimes, but the shops pay very little.

There are a several MLM companies, (I'm in one), which are not scams, but it's not that easy to make money with them, & takes time.
You are a big waste of our time.

IMO it is a waste of money. Not too many
companies pay more for CMT certification.
I would definitely call first.....why waste gas?
xx
IMO waste of my time
VR is not taking over the MT position anytime soon. I hated doing editing because it was twice the work and half the pay. I always ended up typing everything over because it was so wrong. Especially w ESL. Docs have to train the computer to recognize their voice and they don't take and don't have the time to do so. I found a company with straight transcription and I am much happier.
A waste of money
I have seen some companies who advertise more cpl if you are a CMT, not recently, but more like a "fad" a while back. I gawf at that because even if I was certified, I have over 20 years of experience and no certification is going to make me more experienced than actually working that long.
Waste of time
nm
Don't waste your money on it.

Then you shouldn't ben an SE or an IC. We all....
have to make the choices and or sacrifices that provide us with what we need.  You may need to find a job that provides benefits, as opposed to living on the edge regarding medical care.  If that means you work a rigid schedule because you're an employee, giving up the flexibility of being an IC may be necessary.  I did the same thing myself.  Canadian health care stinks.
They shouldn't be able to do that.

We used to rent and went through that.  I've worked as a housekeeper before, so I'm anal about cleaning.  Security deposits are for damages only, usually not for routine cleaning.  We had landlords try to charge us for many reasons, but there are Landlord/Tenant laws in each state.  In my state, the landlord has to notify us that the unit is not clean enough and give us time to clean it up before they can withhold from the security deposit.  If they don't notify you, your deposit is fully due to you.  They also have to give you an itemized list of specific charges, not just general cleaning.  I always took pictures before and after, too, just to prove that we left everywhere clean.

We had one altercation with a landlord in a basement apartment we lived in.  The foundation was cracked and leaking, and the ancient threadbare 1950s carpet got stained with water, moldy, and mildewy, so we tore it out and replaced it with remnants.  He tried to charge me for recarpeting the entire basement apartment.  I took pictures, though, and threatened him with a lawsuit of my own for providing substandard living quarters, failing to make repairs, and withholding my security deposit.  He tried to bully me by telling me that he had never lost a case, so I turned him in to the county.

Go to Google and type in your state name with "Landlord Tenant laws" and "security deposit" to see what it says.  Then call an attorney for a free consultation.  Send a demand letter for the funds owed to you.

Maybe I shouldn't say this but
Uninstall it and reinstall again, see what happens.
shouldn't have said it was better lol
I keep getting all lines are busy please try again later or We are sorry all circuits are busy now please hang up and try again 312506.
And I thought monday was over,,,,,,my bad!!!
Shouldn't we use ml instead of cc?
nm
He shouldn't try to think.
nm
No, you shouldn't do that. sm
I have always read NO, do not run 2 antivirus programs at once. I run Spybot and Ad-Aware along with my main antivirus (I use Avast), but you should not run 2 main antivirus (such as Avast or AVG) programs together. I don't know what PC Tools does so I don't know specifically if that is okay to run with AVG, but I would advise checking with AVG before you do anything.

I find that using something like AVG and running periodic Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware scans, plus using the immunize tool in Spybot, works well and keeps my PC free of pests (along with firewall, of course).

Just my opinion, but a lot of the "do-it-all" programs end up slowing down your computer with extra features you may not even need or want. Half the stuff they bundle isn't even necessary since many browers and ISPs bundle the same functions in their software. Therefore, you might be wasting memory resources on something you already have adequate protection for with your browser/ISP. You can compare it to medicine designed for cough, congestion, and allergy - if you only have the cough, you really don't need the congestion and allergy medicines so why buy the multi-formula med and subject your body to it unnecessarily when you could just get the cough med and be well?
shouldn't have to
you can program any key to anything you like.
and shouldn't that be...
MIIIIIIINE?

Hehehe. I'm in a mood today.
I used to waste sooooo much time
looking things up, then get sidetracked, etc. When I started using the stopwatch, I wouldn't reset it until the end of my shift. I just started it running everytime I stopped typing and then stopped it when I started typing again. At the end of the day I nearly FAINTED when I saw how much time I was losing.

I have a 3 to 5-minute limit now. I start that watch and in 3 minutes if I am no where near finding the information, I put a blank and go on. If I feel I've almost found what I'm looking for, I continue but at 5 minutes I call it quits and it gets a blank to QA.

Don't hardly ever send blanks to QA because I can send 2 blanks to the hospital without any trouble.

Still, it helps me keep on task and at the end of the day I can see where I have not been productive if my lines are really sucky. LOL LOL LOL
