C Phone not dialing--D-Light from CHARTS-- Please help

Hey y'all.   I have a little black box of a C-Phone, from C.H.A.R.T.S. and it is called  D-Light.

Yesterday it would not dial.  Everything else works apparently, the green light is on and it changes from green to red when I hit the buttons to dial or hit the foot pedal.

But, the DIAL TONE is lower volume than normal and it will not dial.  The buttons do nothing.  I do get the phone company prompt "If you are trying to make a call, please hang up..." if I stay on the line long enough.

It is acting like it is not getting power, this is how it acts when the power cord is not plugged in.  But, it is plugged in.  I think the machine could work, I just don't know what is going wrong.

Please help if you know what is going wrong.  TX so much-- I gotta work!!

It took me 8-10 hours for 100 charts 1000 lines sm
This was with ExText, 20- to 45-second (give or take) reports. I did have distractions. I was completely bored with soooooo many short-short reports. Also took some time in the document info screen because company I was in did not have their act together. Had to search and recheck that I had the correct visit and location.

Hope this helps somewhat.
I have never worked where the MT dept was anywhere near the charts, for that reason.
It's been my experience in different hospitals that MT dept is NOT the MR dept. Different wings, different supervisors, different workers. As a hospital MT I never had access to the charts. But since you said you went upstairs to do this, it sounds like your facility is the same.

I do ER charts for East Jefferson, but of course those stopped yesterday, been worried about them nm

DIFFICULT? - transfer word reports into digital charts? (sm)

I have heard it is difficult to get our transcribed microsoft word reports into any type of EMR (electronic medical record) type of setup.

Is this true?

If we just change the program we type on before we send it to the office for the office to put into an electronic chart (which they say will be mandated by about 2010 or so) -- would that make it possible?

Many docs are not happy to have to do their own corrections etc.

Also a few years ago there was already a program where the docs signed off electronically for their reports.  NOW IT'S LIKE SOME BIG HAIRY DEAL for them to do it.

Seems like we are going backwa5rds

HELP.

would love to hear from anybody who has already met this problem and figured it out -- either send an email or ans here - would be so appreciated.  Thanks.

Scarry!!! Docs and nurses entering drugs and dosages into online charts. (sm)

Most of my docs cannot spell medical terms.  They can't pronounce or spell drugs.  The nurses are for the most part useless - no ARNP I ever asked could help me with a medical term.

I just spoke to my HMO.  They are now offering personal Online-charts showing

visits, tests, immunizations, etc. of what you personally had done.

I asked EXACTLY HOW DOES THIS INFO GET INTO THE SYSTEM, at what point?

The woman said:  It is input by the doc and the nurses.

I shuttered!

There goes the end of quality health care as we used to know it!

its curiosity!
i work for a national, 5 yr now. Never have seen anyones face. Have been invited to office parties if i wanted to travel a distance...

sometimes my co's personnel are more friendly than professional...sometimes not. I've had personal e/m's from a couple (QA)

I've wondered if the reality of those faces would match my voice impressions, but it doesn't really bother me to never see them. Now if they had 4 legs, i'd be more inclined to visit!!
Just out of curiosity...
What sort of home businesses are you involved in? I also have a home business I am truly enjoying, but for now I just do it as a supplemental income for the extra things. I have become a PartyLite consultant and have been doing this for about the last two months. I really enjoy getting out of my house and having shows selling great quality candles (which I love myself) and meeting new people. Hope you find another true passion and have fun doing it! Good luck to you!
just out of curiosity
why would you substitute 3 Keystrokes (sxy) for 2 keystrokes (60)? I don't find numbers any harder to type than letters, so for me this is just adding keystrokes.
Just out of curiosity...
How long have you been an MT? I had planned to take the test last summer after being an MT for 4 years, but didn't feel prepared. I'm going to do a lot more studying and take it next year. Just wondered how long you've been an MT that the test was no sweat. In my prep last spring, I discovered there was a lot of stuff I knew, but there was also a lot of stuff I didn't! That's why I decided not to take it.
out of curiosity...
where did you receive your training? I know this is kind of OT, but I am thinking of doing MT and am still researching.

You could check out the job board or search "companies that hire newbies". It returned a few entries for me that have lists of companies that hire new MTs. Good luck with your search!

Someone who is currently employed could probably help you out more but maybe that will help for a start.
Out of curiosity
What platform did go from and go to? Did that make sense?

I can tell it's Monday and my mind isn't fully in logical mode yet, lol!
Putting patient versus The patient (sm)
When did this "rule" come about? I've been an MT/Editor/medeical records tech/ART for 30 years - Never, ever was I told to put that. You cannot make the sentence be "The patient sent to Radiology" but you can put "Patient sent to Radiology."

Thats just insane.
curiosity, yeah right
and who in the heck do you think you are to tell me this isn't where i can present MY point of view???? Excuuuuuse me -- was this a gripe-only board for sourpuss' like yourself?? If so, let the administrator tell me so, and you can just go on an wallow in your self-imposed misery.
Out of curiosity, is UnitedTran the same as TranSCAM? - nm

I check jobs in my specialty out of curiosity.
Have only applied for three in a year though and those were to possibly replace a PT job I have with a better PT job. The FT job I have I am content with for now.

Be careful not to become known as applying all over the place. This is when it is a good time to get information from the Company board when you see an opening. Be sure you want to be considered before you apply. It is a small MT world with the better companies. This is my thought anyway.
I'd be lyin' if I said my curiosity wasn't piqued...
So, what else is there to do in this field of transcription (with a national) that isn't just a lateral move?
Curiosity piqued.....whatcha excited 'bout??? nm
.
Hey, out of curiosity what kind did you get. I bought a E1505 laptop on there. Great Deal

Which ones pull in the green?

Which ones are you gals/guys transcribing that you are able to do 200-300/hour?  I have condensed it down to ops and maybe radiology.  What are the most awesome expansion accounts in your opinion-copy and paste if you will!!

Is there anybody transcribing this amount of lines on acute or multi specialty?  Specialty, a single specialty, I could believe.  Ops I can believe.  Haven't done rad so don't know.  What are the best "COPY AND PASTE" situations you know of?

I donated, but did not get to pull from
Santas bag
I would use Pull Ups in his case, to take away...
the notion that he needs "diapers" since he is trained during the day and you don't want him to feel like he's a baby.  My DD used Pull Ups, then those big Pull Ups that are just white and made for bedwetters, and when she grew out of those we used DDAVP spray, which worked the first night.
How do I pull up autorecover to see if it is in there?
nm
Do you pull from the queue when you want?

So you go into the queue and grab what is at the top at that time. So if you do not feel like working one day or that morning you don't have to pull from the queue?

I need to work at a place that is flexible that I can get work when I am able to.

Thanks

I bet you are about to pull your hair out with this
mess, aren't you? I do voice also and keep trying to tell people MTers are not ready to be replaced with this because I, like you, see this all too much.
You can pull up like you are lifting a
weight and also pull outward like you are working on shoulder muscles and pecs (typical gym exercise). Do about 8 reps (or more)of each every hour. Exercising these muscles is cumulative but the important thing is to be consistent, i.e. every day. It's so easy to forget for a couple of days and then the pain returns. Being MTs we need to be mindful of our bodies. Our minds are always getting a workout but our bodies seem to suffer. We need to be warriors of mind and body to be balanced and then our performance and productivity improves also.
Sometimes you can pull them up in the expander but not print from there.

done when leaves pull out easy...sm

takes about 30-45 minutes depending on if you're using gas versus electric!!  *S*

Parmesan sounds good too to the other poster!!

Oh, and one more thing: MTs who don't pull their weight and
I work and I want my team to work hard as well.

Gonna pull my hair out!

I am currently working on a 20 minute dictation with an ESL who talks like a 3-year-old.  I can't even figure out where she might be from.  Words like....tweatment, twying, reawy, downwite, etc.  Plus, there is about a 2 second pause between every word!!!!!

The real kicker is that she is dictating this for another doc who I know for a fact speaks perfect English.

Sometimes I just wanna cry!!

Pull your spf files off the CD onto the desktop. sm
Now go to My Computer, look at Programs, open the ShortHand folder, open the smaller SH8 folder. Now, drag your spf files into that. Close all of that.

Now open the shorthand program like you are going to use it. Go to File at the top, open, and you will see your spf files. open the one you want to use, or any. each time you open one, there will be tab at the bottom to choose which one you want to use.
I agree . . . if you can pull that job home,
that would be your best bet.
Pull Down "View" on Toolbar.
Then hit Zoom.
Funny how they expect you to pull a
freakin rabbit out of a hat?! I'd love to say, "I don't do magic lady!"
Now watch me pull a rabbit
"MTIA strongly supports the development of a credentialed workforce."

And in case you were wondering who was going to be the certifying body...

ta DA! They have their very own handy-dandy organization right on hand to provide the test! AHDI!

But wait! Not only are they on hand, they have the EXACT same address as MTIA!

Oh, & in case you were wondering who was going to pay for all this, "MTIA acknowledges that there is a measurable cost associated with preparing for, obtaining, and maintaining the professional credentials referenced here. It is important to note that the Association is not including in this recommendation the mandate or suggestion that the responsibility for those costs be shouldered, at all or in part, by the transcription service organization/employer.

So let's see. They force MTs to become CMTs by pushing so hard for it in the industry that it becomes impossible to work without it. Next, they make the MTs pay for the certification themselves even though their facilitation of offshoring has driven wages down so far that it's hard to make a living. Finally, the fees for this certification go to an organization with an address identical to theirs...

how do you spell c-l-a-s-s a-c-t-i-o-n??

It will be so worth it. After seven years at home, I pull in $100/day sm
just working around naps and early mornings before the kids get up.  I could probably do more if I wanted to at night after DH gets home, but $100 is my goal and I can usually reach that in three hours.  It's easy, go for it!
They better have SE because no way is my insurance riding on the BS they pull with no work all the
time. They can hang you out to dry with that 12,000 line deal unless you work 24/7 lately. No way does my health insurance ride of that deal.
You know what, I dont believe you unless you have every report in your expander and can pull up

normals for your hospital.

Yes, everyone who make a donation gets to pull from Santa's Bag.
/
If I recall, you should be able to pull up all the supporting documents sm
to review, not just the summary page.  I always back it up by doing the old pencil, paper, calculator method just to be sure.
I hear you! I'm ready to pull my hair out!
I keep looking forward to that in hopes of a "normal" schedule.  Plus money is a big factor - I need all I can make!
When I get a new Pet, I pull out the Atlas. That's my "pet name book." :-)
I have had plenty of cats, and always name them after cities in the United States.  I have had Kansas City, Tahoe, Cocoa Beach, Tacoma, Cody, Carson City, Boulder and currently Tahoma and Houston.
Pull up some documents and count them out each way to compare. nm
