You surely have more than 1 channel on your TV, right?

Posted By: Judy on 2007-01-29
In Reply to: I watch JJ too and I don't trust Sylvia Browne either sm - me too

Well, then why don't you use it? If you like Sylvia, then watch and if not, surely you know how to change your channel or is your remote too far away from your easy chair? My goodness, some folks will like and follow her, nothing wrong with that as there is nothing wrong with someone who does the opposite. I don't think she is anyone's mom that you know so you DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO HER. Tune her out!! Get a life.

Come on! Surely you know better than that.... SM

The OP may not have specified hours, etc, but every MT should know better than to state their line count without giving any other qualifying factors.  It's misleading pure and simple to say "I do 3000 lines a day" and leave it at that.  The natural assumption is you're talking about a normal work day consisting of 8 hours.  The second natural assumption is that you are talking about the standard line definition of 65 characters per line.

The OP is probably fairly new to transcription and is probably trying to get an idea of where she should be production wise and wondering what kind of money she expect to make.  You simply tell her you 3000 lines in a day and don't tell her anything else is misleading her into believing that she can achieve this too and leave her feeling frustrated when she can't.

I wanted the OP to know that gross lines anda  12 hour day are not the norm in this field and you should not have stated your line count as if it were!

No blame placed on anyone. Surely you have
limits in your life, don't you? I would hope so. Those are the lines I have drawn. I have had to change accounts before and change employers before. I may have to again, who knows?

It doesn't cost me anything whether you take that as blaming MTs or not.

Not anywhere in that post did I blame MTs. I took responsibility for what I wanted to do and I am ALLOWED to make those decisions for myself. Perhaps you should do the same for you.

Enjoy your day!
A and E... I love that channel. NM

Is anybody else out there addicted to the TV channel A&E?
I love watching all the crime shows, City Confidential, Cold Case Files, all of them!!
According to the wedding channel..
(from the site):
It is now acceptable for female guests to wear black to weddings, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Black choices, however, should be more ornate than reserved, to give off an air of celebration rather than mourning. Sometimes, adding a little color (vibrant flower pins and scarves work wonderfully for weddings) rounds off the somber look well.

Come on, guys - surely someone can
I'm really wanting to know!
There have been two. Surely that does not make
"many". BOS # 2 is a great reference.
What channel? What Time?? Thanks! nm
nm
Well, I have surely lived then!
Not Mexican - rap music as loud as it can be played coming from somewhere behind my house on almost a nightly basis around 2 a.m. The thing that makes me the most annoyed is that it is literally the same song OVER and OVER and OVER for two hours or more! I just want to scream, "At least get a new song!" Ugggghhhh!
E channel also reported this. nm

when was this on, what channel? I missed it? nm
dd
It surely does not show...sm
if you are already employed by an american company, think you are professional, etc....than why the b******* post? Just trying to stir up trouble?? nothing else to do?? bored??? Somehow I don't believe you.
You are surely losing a lot
doing this. Why not check as you are doing and spell check at end. It seems like you are shooting yourself in the foot by rereading each report. I never do and just got my quarterly report yesterday and had a 99.9% accuracy.
that one surely has both feet in their mouth right now.
When someone points a finger its usually to make themself feel more powerful, sad and unhappy person.  Honey, all came here the same way, we came from dirt and are going back to dirt.  You keep being strong, raise those babies the best you can and be proud you don't have the mentality of the person making such a crud statement.
The channel was CNBC for the CTS/RSI story
It really was interesting.
Maybe you can contact the shopping channel. nm

Not a hero? Surely U jest, Sharon!
He's STILL my hero. :)
P.S. Channel some energy into agility classes
perhaps! Sounds like a great candidate if he/she can jump and get your sunglasses! Lots of classes for agility in most areas, and lots of fun for dog and owner, not to mention exercise! Woof!
True.. But the little that DOES come our way is surely prized. I think you're right
Seems like the field is divided between people who care about and understand what they do (the smart ones), and the ones who don't, and are a QA's nightmare.
Discovery Health Channel has a show Sat and Sun a.m.
that are good for CECs if you watch the show then take a test on line on the website.  I have a bunch of them recorded but haven't watched them yet, too busy!  I may disagree with how the organization formerly known as AAMT is doing things, but I am proud to be a CMT and aim to stay that way!
Anyone catch Discovery Health Channel last night?
I always watch the Plastic Surgery epidoses with Dr. Jan Adams who narrates the different procedures profiled.  Anyhow, he was explaining how some patients are more susceptible to keloid formation, and in the subheadings where they type these words, they had it as "keyloid"  It just struck me as funny, being a medical show and all!
What news channel? I have to use my debit as a credit at stores and such. NM
x
well, i wanted casey to win but i am happy with the 2 who did. they both deserved it and surely bot
some awesome talent on nashville star compared to AI although i watch both. i was satisfied with last night though as at least the top 2 were deserving.
I surely lost out on that, worked from home for a hospital
for 2+ years and required to come in house for meetings and never, never paid for my gas nor my time down and just asked to make it up. After that we got outsourced to a company and guess what again? Meetings at their place and again no pay!! I bet others who see this probably have had the same thing happen to them. Your place exceptional.
Surely he can find other places to shave cents
x
Please, guys, surely you've seen these people's work SM
and are appalled at the very low quality. When training, I worked alongside one of them. The quality was atrocious, but she put out vast quantities of it, moving many reports a day for the hospitals and making lots of money for herself and her employer, so her job was actually very secure in spite of the many complaints that came in from the unfortunate clinicians who received her work.

But her speed cannot even begin to compare with that of a computer, or couldn't. I imagine she's safely retired now and doesn't have to face the change-or-get-out that will be required of other content slobs.
Call "The Dog Whisperer" - Cesar Millan on Nat'l Geo channel!?!?! nm

Wow, on Discovery Channel - Preg woman delivering suffers leak of amniotic fluid into mom's

mom having an allergic/anaphylactic reaction.

Heart can't push the goo through.

Body went into shock.

She couldn't breathe.

Her blood began to clot.

Docs did emergency C-section in 6 minutes.

Then mom went to cardiac arrest.

Then another catastrophic thing happened.

Paula began hemorrhaging massively from every part of her body....from eyes, ears, nose, every incision, every bump and bruise.  All her blood clotting factors had been used up.

Docs poured blood clotting factors into her.

The baby's chances of survival were at 50/50.

Mom was then noted to have unusual swelling in upper abdomen.

Surgeons reopened c-section.

Astonished to find 1 gal of clot-filled blood.  With the clots removed, her blood quit clotting.

Of the 10% of women who survive, most are brain-damaged. Only 1% survive without any damage.  She turned out to be in the 1% luckily.

A day later she was holding her baby and was OK.

=========

All this started with her first labor pain of her second child.  It was the leak of the amniotic fluid into her blood stream that caused her to immediately start to feel like her throat was "closing up" and she couldn't breathe (anaphylactic allergic reaction).  She passed out pretty quickly.
