canker sores

My 23-year-old son has been complaining of canker sores, found out it is the citric gator ade causing it, but I just found at the local store a new type of anesthetic for it, same old Orajel, but is has a brush to apply it with.  I also just looked up on the internet about these sores and says it can be caused by teething, rough food such as peanuts or potato chips, citric juices, tomatoes, so told my son to stay away from them.  I remember buying a paste a couple of years ago at the drug store, think it was called Orabase and it does heal the canker sore quite quickly and does not burn when it goes on.  Hope your little one gets relief fast, they are quite painful sores to have.

It sounds like you are talking about canker sores
in which case, no, you won't develop cancer from those. I have had a susceptibility to those all my life. They hurt, but they are not dangerous.

The kinds of mouth ulcers you want to watch for are the kind that don't hurt, but are just there and don't go away even after several weeks. Those you want to worry about.

All the above being said, I'm not a doctor and if you have something that really concerns you it never hurts to have a doctor check you out.
