cmt reference stedmans sm

My main reason for wanting to purchase the Stedmans course is to get the feel of the test itself.  This way I am not going in totally blind as to how the test is done.  I have read the description online, but would really like to have an actual pre-type test to give me a feel for the platform.  That is really what I am most worried about.  That and grammar.  I have a great accuracy rating, I am just worried about not passing and want to be as prepared as I can be.  With that being said is the person out there who was offering the book for sale.  I would like to know how much you would like for it.  Thanks.

Thanks...so much for Stedmans nm

I should have googled it.  Thanks again.

Stedmans
in Word click on Tools when you fully expand this option it may list Stedmans here if not then Click Tools then options and spelling and grammar and Stedmans should be listed under your custom dictionary.

Feel free to email if you need more assistance.
Stedmans's
hi. Stedman's does run in the background. as long as your word dictionary is set to CUSTOM.DIC, it will be using it. There may be a folder in program files, and that is a good thing, in case you want to uninstall it. If you check your "add and remove programs" it may be listed in there, as well. as long as your medical words are not being underlined in red, you are fine.
I use Stedmans and
it works fine with Vista

Stedmans CMT
Has anyone here purchased the Stedmans CD to ready for the CMT exam.  I am thinking about purchasing and was looking for some feedback about that one or any others some of you have tried and found that worked for you.  I understand the exam is very difficult and I really want to take it and pass it for that matter LOL.  Any help and guidance is much appreciated.
about stedmans
Hello, I just went to Word 2007, which is very helpful but now I have no Stedman's. My Stedman's is very old. I was wondering if anyone knows where to get Stedman's O7 or 08 cheaper than 99.00.

Thanks so much. Have a wonderful holiday.

wp and stedmans
Go into your wordperfect and open the spellchecker. There should be a tab for user dictionaries. Open that and insert new dictionary. There should be 3 with the stedmans title. Use all three
stedmans or you can
or you can just run the disc again and download it into your wordperfect. It should ask you what program you want to put it in
stedmans
Yeah, I know, that's kinda what I'm thinking too. It's the only one I've used in all of my MT career, so kind of afraid to purchase something else. Thanks!
How did you get Stedmans SpellChecker to
Did you have to change some settings somewhere?  Please give me the details because when I try to install it it just quits the install process.  Thanks so much
Please help - Stedmans/WP 5.1 question...
I recently switched to a new computer (Windows XP) and for some reason I cannot get my Stedmans spellchecker to work.  I use WP 5.1 dos and my Stedmans is version 6 for dos.  In WP location of files, it shows Stedmans correctly but when I run spell check, some really ancient version shows up.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Don't buy Stedmans Path/Lab CD!
I'm SO mad at Stedman's! I finally decided to go electronic and bought a med/surg equip CD and a path/lab CD. No problems with the former, but the latter will not work and disables MS Word! And I'm not the only one, as you can Google it on the internet and others are having the same problems. Somehow it interacts wrongly with different virus/spam protectors and will start throwing pages and pages of licensing cleanup alerts into your task manager, disabling your word processing. I called tech support last Friday and they said they'd get back to me. I called them back Tuesday and they said they still hadn't figured it out. I called them today, still nothing, so I got mad and returned the stupid CD for the book. Six days of "trying to figure it out"???? He had said before they could install an unlicensed copy since the licensing was the problem, but then days later said they couldn't figure it out.

They also send you an invoice saying your payment is due by X date (with the return envelope and the space to fill in how much you are paying of the total) when you've already paid by credit card. They also charged almost $20 shipping for 4 CDs that weigh a few ounces. I'm NOT happy!
Meditech and Stedmans
Does anyone use Meditech and Stedmans Medical/Pharmaceutical Spellchecker together?  I just purchased Stedmans to use while typing in Meditech and now someone told me it would not work? I have not tried it yet though.   I will keep Stedmans though to use in Word so no big money loss.
Need help with Stedmans speller

My Stedmans keeps not loading or something.  It was working fine when I quit work Friday night.  Then yesterday it would not work.  I finally did a system restore and it worked after that fine.  Then today, same thing, it will not work.

Can someone help me out with any suggestions?

Using Stedmans spellchecker with Meditech

Does anyone know if a Stedman's Medical/Pharmaceutical spellchecker works with Meditech program?

I currently use PCShorthand with it but mine does not recognize drug names.  I was thinking of buying Stedman's Spellchecker but how does this one work with Meditech.  I friend bought Stedmans and loves it so I was thinking of doing thet same but my friend is typing in Word and not Meditech.

Does anyone know where a person could get a tutorial on Meditech as Help Button on the Meditech Help section when I am working is kinda of confusion.  This is what I get working as a remote IC person.  Trying to learn this system a little better.

 Thanks Pauline

Stedmans Ortho book shows
both on pagge 455, plantar flexion and then plantarflexion injury, plantarflexion-inversion test. Maybe it is supposed to be by context ????
Does anyone know how to convert the Stedmans word list to
If so please share how.  Thank you!
EXText and Stedmans 2006 spellchecker?
Anybody know if they are compatible or if there are any glitches I should be aware of before I plunk down the dough? Thanks!
I wouldn't hold Stedmans accountable for
not being able to open zip files.  Do you have a zip program on your computer?  If so, just use it to unzip the files.  WinZip can be downloaded for an initial free trial.  When you unzip it, save the .exe file to the Stedmans folder, then click "run" if prompted.  If not prompted to run, click your start button, click run, and browse for the Stedmans folder and select its .exe file to run.  It should then begin to install and you should follow the prompts of questions it will ask you.
Always Dorlands' first and foremost. Stedmans is a poor second.

Emdat/Incribe with Word/Stedmans
I would like to know if anyone who types in this program is able to use the Microsoft Word option and Stedman's Spellcheck.  That is, without copying and pasting.
Stedmans has it with NO hyphen; that's how I've been typing for years. NM

We were not 'allowed' to load anything to their system, inclg Stedmans

My Stedmans spellcheck disappeared with SP 2 for Office 2003!

An update from Microsoft of SP 2 for Office 2003, a reboot and now when I open Word my Stedmans spellcheck doesn't work.   I tried to reload it and that doesn't work, either.   Anyone else have this happen?  I looked and it's in "Proof" for dictionaries as LEXB4SP, but it's not loading up and replacing the Word spellcheck.   Now what do I do?

I went to desktop icon for both DRUG BOOK and STEDMANS. Clicked

How old are your drug book and stedman's?  (I bought mine about 6 years ago now).  I hate to not be able to use them because I have added so much to them through the years.  ugh.

In reference to rad pay below...

I do both basic 4 and radiology for a small hospital and get paid by the minute of dictation for all. Radiology is a third to half of the dictation I do a day.  I am thinking about going to just radiology.  Many of you have stated a per page or per report rate, but what is the average per line rate for radiology.  Is it different from the basic four dictation rate?

There are only two radiologists at this hospital, both fairly easy to do except one is slow and one is fast, so fast, if I got paid per report, I would make four times what I make now per minute of dictation.  The slow one is going to retire soon and I will be stuck with the fast one and a new doctor which I probably will not have a problem with unless he is fast too and I would be making less money.

Thanks for the reference SM
Interesting site! Unfortunately, it states that "today the period always goes within the quotes" so I can't use it as a reference, only as a "the way it used to be."
thanks for the reference nm

THIS is the best reference (sm)
Forget all those books -- they're out of date a year before they're published.

This site automatically indexes biomedical acronyms from Medline.

Try it and tell me whether you aren't ready to throw away all your outdated, useless references!
Reference
I'm a rad MT and have been for about 6 years. The ONLY book I have on my desk is Stedman's Radiology Words. I use it all the time.
I have a reference for you...
Check out About.com and go to the Frugal Living site. There are the vinegar pages that detail all the varied uses. One newsletter talked about a family re-occupying and cleaning up after Katrina and how vinegar saved their home and made it habitable again.

Both! I can't do without some of my reference (sm)
that only come in book form and use those religiously, but if I could only buy one form, definitely CD!! Keep in mind, I don't use Stedman's Medical Dictionary CD much but do like their others. I use Dorlands CD that I got cheap and prefer it over the Stedman's CD. Love, love, love the Quick Look Drug Reference CD.
reference
I like drugs.com. You can look by the first letter of the drug.
I use Way in reference.

extremely interesting reading...

While documents (transcribed and otherwise) will continue to be predominant in healthcare for some time to come, there is the beginning of a move away from story telling (sentences, paragraphs, reports), which results in documentation that requires searching for and pulling essential data, toward documenting the data directly, and then when documents are needed, using the data to populate consensus-designed templates. Though not initiated in response to this shift from a “documents then data” to a “data then documents” approach, the collaborative work being done by AHDI, AHIMA, and MTIA with HL7 to standardize the most common clinical documents12 will be especially helpful in facilitating the transformation of recorded data into standard formats for H&Ps, consultations, operative reports, etc
