Double Wow sm
Could you please e-mail me that recipe, I promise I won't disclose it to anyone!
Double what you'd pay an IC
probably. I'd say the MTSO I work for probably makes double what I do in order to pay me. Makes sense.
Hmmm
If that comes to pass with the hospital that I work for (my full-time job) I sure hope they switch us back to being paid by the hour, or better yet, I hope I will still have a job!
Hmmm, well
the fact that you have to continue to state over and over that you will be making so much money leads me to believe that you won't be making that much money. You must really not have a life if you are working all day to get all of your lines in and then you are on here all night, as well. Sorry for you. If you really seriously aren't no whining, which I doubt, I hope you too don't have children because you obviously are neglecting them as well.
Hmmm, where is your
husband? Better check, I think he is calling me from his cell phone because you are soooooo frigid.
hmmm
Soo much for college... I thought that I was wasting my money. I spent 40,000 on that thing to get a job.
Hmmm...
What I truly want:
1) My retired parents to have more income and be able to travel more;
2) My oldest son to learn happiness is a choice, not just the result of whatever life hands him;
3) My youngest son to keep the same motivation he has now and add a little more self-discipline to his direction;
4) My sisters and extended family to be satisfied and content with their lives and the energy to change whatever it takes to get there.
5) A photographic memory for myself. Hahaha

The list could go on but those are my top 5 and it is a rather personally indulgent list. Hahaha
Hmmm
I don't understand that either.  Odd.
Hmmm.
I wonder if I might just be use to stiffer keyboards though.
hmmm.
Yeah, I don't know if I can agree with "just be glad it's video games" either. I tried to think of it that way for a long time, but it has just gone too far. Oh, I forgot to add that once he got off his computer so I could unhook the internet, he just sat there in his chair with a mad look on his face and watched me until I got off.

No, we have our own computers. We share the internet connection through a router though.

I really wouldn't mind if he played the game if it didn't cause so much problems in our household. He really needs to be a father to our children. I cannot work with our child screaming because she isn't getting any attention. He should really help out because I work about 14 hour or more days now.
Hmmm...
I thought Katherine looked absolutely gorgeous in that dress; after all she is not a child and that was mild compared to how they dress in Hollywood! Maybe some people who are not big rock fans don't connect with Chris
but he is a way better singer than Taylor and Elliot, hands down...he aced that song and was amazing. I do like Elliot too but think it will be down to Chris and Katherine. Can't stand Paris or Taylor (gives me the creeps with those jerking movements)and glad Pickler is gone who had absolutely no talent and as the other poster said only lasted as long as she did because of the vote-for-the-worst website! All JMO. ; )
hmmm but if it were to get too
expensive for them wouldn't they just find editors who would be happy to do work for 2 or 3cpl? I just don't see how this would "flush" their profits.
Hmmm - then I don't like her either.
Oh well "So you think you can dance" starts Thursday.
Hmmm....
no thankx
Hmmm, let's see!
Helping them with homework; my aunt did that with her daughter for years. Now she's in college and on her own and not doing all that great on her own. Waking your kid up personally; my mom did all my childhood life and to this day I have an extremely hard time getting up and am not real punctual and often late because of that. Paying kids for chores; teaching them that all good deeds deserve payment. I agree with Inquiring Minds 100%! To each his/her own though! :)
hmmm... this may be it!! Thanks!
nm
Hmmm
That's odd. I think it only works if you have microsoft office, not just the basic. I can't remember though. It is a great system once you get it to work. :-)
Hmmm.
The only rudeness I have read is from you. If you thought the first post was rude, you need thicker skin.

People, for the most part, are trying to be helpful. People also make mistakes so instead of jumping all over someone who did make a mistake AND apologized, why don't you get over it and move on?
Hmmm
I read through your entire post, which was very long, and it left me thinking a few things.

First of all you really should invest in seeing a doctor. Most hospitals will treat you, and bill you later. At which point in time, you can make payment arrangements. Get yourself taken care of. You sound like you are at your wits end. Well, when you hit rock bottom there's no where to go but up, right?

Then...get a job. A real job that pays you regularly. You don't have to work there for the rest of your life, but you do need to survive. Is it not possible for you to suffer through a regular job to pull yourself out of this misery? Heck...they might even offer you health insurance!

Another thing, I am about your same age, and I have no pity for people that don't want to help themselves. See, life is hard, really hard at times. No one said it would be easy did they? I work full-time nights at a 'regular job,' go to school, and have a family to take care of. There comes a time when you have to grow up and learn to take care of yourself. Sometimes that entails hard work and some suffering. There is no growing or maturing without a little strife. You can get through this. There is life beyond where you are. You have to want it, though. You can't just sit cooped up in your apartment investing your time in something that is obviously not working.

The answer for you is very simple and easy: If you don't like what you are doing and how you are living then *change* it. Start doing something different...or you'll keep getting the same results.

Hmmm

I am running into the exact same thing actually.  I won't get paid for MARCH'S work until mid May!  I am an IC and even at that I don't even submit an invoice.  The company pays me for what their client pays them for.  If you ask me, I very much prefer working for companies that pay right on time based on the exact invoice you submit.

Hmmm, that's odd...
that's not at all what you said in your post above.

Perhaps if posts didn't start out as insulting or trying to get a rise out of people, there wouldn't be attacks. I guess I'm confused, but I don't understand what kind of helpful advice, motivation, positivity or friendliness you were looking for by a post saying why does everyone on here complain, makes me feel like suicide, find a new job, etc.

Maybe if you tried starting a positive thread, one that promotes friendliness or positivity, you'd get positive responses.
Hmmm .... look at it this way
If by saying 2 units of Pitocin, it is referring to it as a single dose, it would be WAS. Whereas, if it were referring to multiple doses, then it would be WERE.

Am I making sense? :)
Hmmm
Talk about sarcastic ...... ! Take it easy.
Hmmm
CMT but cant do ops? how did you pass?
Hmmm, let's see...

You "told us" what, exactly?  All who posted previously were well aware that this could happen again.  The point was that it was the first time Lisa had worked with this physician.  Giving them the benefit of the doubt was the appropriate thing to do.

Regarding the meeting, no, I do not believe you should be paid for the meeting.  Why?  Because the meeting should have taken place at the very beginning when you decided to accept them as a client.  A contract should have been prepared and signed at that time.  Since, as far as I am aware, that was not done originally, then it should be done at this meeting.  If it were done at the beginning, you would not charge for the meeting because you would be in the process of trying to negotiate a contract with them (i.e., consultation).

I do agree that you should not listen through and record all patient names before transcribing.  From this point on, you need to make it clear that you will need to be paid for everything you transcribe (per your new contract you sign during your meeting), which should have been explained very clearly after the first time this happened.

Hmmm
How about The Daily/Monthly Emesis. lol,jk.
Hmmm, that could be
a problem if left available to anyone, but I don't see why it would be set up that anyone in the hospital setting would have access.

Plenty of companies have classified information that only certain people can access. I would think the information would be protected from those who have no business accessing it.
Hmmm, do you have all day? : )
Sooooo many things ... not pausing at all between sentences. Sometimes certain things could logically be the last part of one sentence OR the beginning of the next sentence, so it's just a crap shoot.

Changing their minds (or maybe not) when you can't tell for sure if you are supposed to eliminate some of what they already said or not.

Suddenly speaking very low or actually leaving out a few words at a time. I have one who does this all the time and will literally grunt (and other odd noises) rather than say some of the words. (You've gotta wonder how some of these people speak in person!?)

Throwing in tons of punctuation (wrong and waaaay more than would ever be in a normal sentence). Why doesn't someone tell them not to punctuate? We don't follow it anyway ... HELLO!!
hmmm...
If you know, or talk to your provider, and find out how fast your satellite line is you may be able to include that information in a cover letter. Many times a satellite is just as fast as DSL, but is considered unreliable in most areas becasue storms and the like can knock them out and then you can't "show up" for work cosistantly. Apply for the jobs and put down that you have satellite - list the company you go through and the speed and find out how often the service goes down in your area. Just knowing this information looks good to recruiters and I'll bet someone cuts you some slack and gets you hired.
Hmmm...
I think no one can afford to buy the darn books anymore since the wages are crappy.
Hmmm...
... I've done ortho for well over 20 years (among other things) and when I started, all I had was a Dorland's and a PDR (and a typewriter).

If you're good at Googling, and if you have sample reports available, you should have no trouble picking it up. Just write down unfamiliar words for future reference (I still have the little mini loose-leaf binder I started in 1976) and save lots of sample reports on your own system--especially ones that have been through QA, so theoretically they will be correct....

And you can always yell for help on the word help forum here.

Do you know if you'll be doing just clinical ortho, or is it going to include op reports? My own ortho experience is 99.9 percent clinical.
Double applause! nm

double space

Geez, I thought I asked a simple question, but I guess not.  I could care less what Medquist or AAMT say.  I get paid hourly so I didn't ask the question because I was worried about money.  I was asking in general style terms - are newspapers, magazines, i.e., anything in print spacing this way now?  I just wanted to know if I was behind the times.

double (sm) I mean triple for me

Double standard
So we expect MDs to always have their complete attention on every word out of their mouths, which would be nice, but some of them put in 70 or more hours a week at the office/hospital, and have mountains of dictation to complete each week. But we expect them to never make a misspeak, even though on these boards we have a heart attack if one poster points out another poster's spelling or grammar error. Never mind that we are supposed to be better at English than the MDs, but we don't have to use our skills in writing posts (which is MUCH easier to do well than never making a misspeak), even if the post has to do with getting a job. That's quite a double standard, if you ask me.
thanks for that - but I need help with double spacing - sm
not with spacing between sentences. Its when a doctor dictates a paper for a journal and he wants the whole thing double spaced so that he can write between the lines or make corrections or for easier reading for him.
double ditto!
My hands feel great at the end of the day. Will never be without one of these keyboards! :-)
I use double ?? and have alt+R set to jump to them. nm

Double bind for an MT
You know, spouses tend to undervalue what we do when we are trying to do it. We put up with a lot to work at home (I know I did when I was married). He had no trouble spending the money, despite is constantly berating my efforts and undermining my contracts by calling the companies I worked for and pitching a fit about my not being paid enough, or I was working too much or he couldn't figure out why I could not take any old time off I wanted...again not respecting that this is a REAL JOB that has to be DONE ON A TIMELY BASIS. I could rant all day, but I won't, you get the idea.

Then, when we divorced he wanted to know what it is was worth. Ummm nil since you managed to lose most of my work for me? I was holding only one contract my own for about $3000 a year when they bothered to get me paid.

Just an observation because some men seem to think they can have it both ways.

I am joyfully single now, and have been single for as long as I was married. The single time has flown by in a flurry of doing my own thing, working when I want to, sleeping when I want to, eating what I like, when I like. So much nicer than doing everything on HIS terms.
Double spacing in an H&P

Where and when, if anywhere, is it acceptable to double space between anything in an H&P or any other report?  We have a double-spacing queen in our department getting paid by the line like the rest of us so I feel cheated on both line count and paydays.

Thanks and hope everyone is having a Happy Valentine Day!

I double space

My docs want double spacing between their headings in their consults/H&P and paragraphs in letters, guess you count that double spacing when you leave a blank line.  Also in chart notes, my GI's want me to double space between paragraphs even in their SOAP notes.  Up to the account.

Double aargh!!
I just finished one doc who must have had something horrific for lunch ... a normally terrible-to-listen-to ESL who burped and belched his way through a 10-minute report without ever even thinking to say "excuse me".  Sure glad he does not treat me.  Very rude and disgusting.
I always double space...sm
I saw that rule in the new BOS as well.  I tried it, but the document looked too cluttered and hard to read.  I also put two spaces after a colon, regardless of what the BOS says.  It had always been proper to it that way, and it is what I was taught in typing class, clerical practice class, and when I started in MT over 17 years ago.  The BOS seems to try to make up its own grammar and punctuation rules regardless of what has been done nearly forever.
Double GRRRR
Been there, done that. It's awful isn't it? Tomorrow will be better maybe? Hope so.
Do I hate VR yup and double yup! nm

hmmm. Work for Mq and never had a
call for a stat at early hour like that.
Hmmm, not the OP, but here's my response.

1. Not applicable.

2. Not applicable.  I've had more companies want to hire me, but THEY failed to return phone calls because their own business problems or personal lives got in the way.  I'm still waiting for my contracts and welcome packets from at least three companies who wanted to hire me.  THEY dropped the ball, not me.

3. Not applicable.  I don't cheat, and I know what I'm doing.

4. Again, not applicable.  The only time I had difficulty was when I was a new hire with a company that needed coverage, so they bounced me around on three difficult accounts in three weeks because my test scores were so high.  However, why should I take a shot in the paycheck because they need someone?  I need money.  That's the bottom line.  I'm not in this business to do any favors for anyone.  The less money I make while doing the crap work, the less food I can buy to feed my children.  You can't expect someone to be off QA in two days and learn three different account specs in three weeks.

5. Not applicable.

6. That's fine if you want to blacklist MTs.  Just remember that what doesn't work between an MT and a company in one experience is entirely different somewhere else.

7. It's a two-way street.  I get no notice from my employer when the server needs to be upgraded, the power is out, the phone lines are down, there's a virus on the server, they need to deal with their own personal problems, or the dictators are out on vacation.

8. Emails bounce or get lost in cyberspace.  Again, it's a two-way street.  Recruiters and HR people neglect to return phone calls and emails as well.  Besides, sometimes we have to take the first position that actually comes through for us while we're waiting for other offers to get their organizational backsides into gear.

9. Not applicable.

10. Not applicable.  However, style issues are easy to relearn.  One employer or account wants one thing, another wants something else.  It's the basic knowledge that needs to be tested.  Cranial nerves two through twelve, II-XII, or 2 to 12.  I've typed all three according to the account specs.  Does that make me wrong?  No, it makes me flexible.  I thought that was a good thing in an MT.

11.  Again, not applicable.  I've never cheated, but I've been cheated out of pay.  I've been threatened with docked pay for not doing something I was never told to do in the first place and for sending anything at all to QA.  The MTSO would have rather I sent the reports through with a guess than to pay a QA person to double check it.  I've had MTSOs ask me to work for a day for free just to see how it works out.  It's all bull.  I get really tired of these ranting emails from the account manager about one thing or another.  One day, she tells us to do one thing.  The next week, she's screaming at us for doing that very thing she told us to do.  It's like working with Sybil.

12. I've never kept anyone's software or equipment.  That's stealing.  I respond to all emails and phone calls, especially if it's just to say, "No, thank you, I've taken a position with someone else."  I also purchase and set up all of my own equipment only to find out that oopsy, they overhired on the account so there's no work for me.  Start the job hunting process all over again.

R 4 R 4. Hmmm. must be your keyboard? ~nm~
dd
Hmmm. More than just the first check.sm
is hard to wait for. I averaged a check every 27 days. There was plenty of work, but very difficult to get lines with their counting system. You would have to get all templated work and repetitious dictators to get even 1,000 lines a day.
being facetious???...hmmm? nm
/
Hmmm...interseting.
I will check into that.
