gel cushions

They work. Gel cushions (and air cushions) are used by people with no movement and sensation in their legs/buttocks to sit on when they are in their wheelchairs - to prevent decubitus ulcers (of course, they still have to lift up off their butts every once in a while). They can be very expensive...  but non-paralyzed people don't need a high-level cushion like that. You have to try one and see what's comfortable.   I got a sacral decubitus anyway from sitting and MT'ing 12 hours a day... I've been working in a bed for a year and using a wound VAC.
