Word Board=Help Board. NOT a do the math = figure it out yourself=GOOGLE IT!

A long hot shower works wonders, or take some
Tylenol and lay down for about 20 minutes and give it time to kick in.   Take a short walk if the heat isn't unbearable where you are.  I know if you hurt you may not feel like it, but probably part of your aches are because you don't get enough exercise - I know that is my problem.   I have recently had to start taking a break about every hour and move around for 15 minutes and that has helped a bit.
TED hose. Works wonders. I got mine sm
K-mart in the pharmacy department for 5.00. They're compression stockings. Works great for my aching ankles too.
Red hot pepper poured in the garden works wonders. sm
I had moles and rabbits and cats eating everything in mine so I poured red pepper and bought a cheap can of jalapeno peppers and threw them around as well. As if by magic, all the animals went away. I just got the cheap 2 for $1 stuff at Dollar General.

Full Word is in the Works "Suite," not plain Works.
Works saves files in a different format, but you can open them in Word if you have the correct filter installed.
Post word questions on the Word board NOT the Main board.

Blog about it on wordpress.com - it will show up in google/search engines. This really works.
Categorize each post with as many tags as you can type related to medical, any words you can think of that people would search for. Maybe someone with SEO experience can chime in here? :) :) :)
The categories show up as "tags" show up in search engines.

We need to blog-
Information about the issue.
A form letter peoople can print/sign/mail.
Contacts/Snail Mail of government officials where people can send the mail too.

We can also give information who they can contact at their local hosptial to find out if their records are going to India/Asia. Most people don't know to ask for the director of health information or operations manager.

Also ad the url to your blog to google:
http://www.google.com/addurl/

We could also link to one another blog's.

Is there someone willing to post a form letter? We could copy and paste it in our our blogs. My writing skills are not good enough yet. ;)

I'm not a Transcriptionist yet but I know about wordpress categories and google. This works!

It's Weck-cel. A word of caution about google....
It's only correct IF you spell the word correctly. It's always best to refer to a medical reference book, such as Stedman's, in cases like this.
Thank you, could not find it in any of my word books or Google

Sorry, but your schedule doesn't justify making up your own rules. Use the word board for word q

Works is a dumbed down version of Word and Excel. You get the full version of Word in the Suite.
The Works Suite is a cheaper way of getting a full version of Word if you don't want or need the other applications in Office.
Google "Miscrosoft Word 2003" (use quote marks)

Google South Beach Diet forum and you'll find a good board there for information. nm

Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.

IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.

It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
She works for MQ see MedQuist forum. It's under Company Board.

Anything that works with Word..NM
X
Word comes with Works as an add-in.
Look in the discs that came with your computer. You should already have it.
It works within the Word
Program you already have on your computer. It pulls up and opens your word, so any Autotext, etc. you have, you can still use. Hope this helps!
If you got Works alone, you don't have Word, just the
Works word processor. It looks like Word but doesn't have all the features of the full version. Full versions of Word only come with the Works Suites and the latest version of the Suite only goes to Word 2002.
You realize you are posting this on the main board, right? Not everyone at this site works for MQ.

Smartype only works in DOS WP5.1 and MS-Word
and if you are trying to use Smartype in a cottage program that has stripped out some of Word's features, Smartype will behavior improperly or not at all.  It will also behavior improperly in MS-Word 2003 due to a change Word made that is not compatible with Smartype.  Last time I talked to Joe, Stedman was not making this fix a priority so I reinstalled MS-Word 2000 to avoid the conflict.
MS Works and MS Word are NOT compatible. SM
If you do a document in MS Works and try to open it as an MS Word document all you will get is machine code.  So if you are transcribing for someone who wants the files and they have MS Word, they will not be able to do anything with them (except pull their hair out).
MS Word is included in MS Works now sm
What Dell probably met was that MsWorks includes a full version of MS Word. It's the less expensive way to get Word without having to buy Ms Office. The student version of MS Office cannot be upgraded, btw, so don't get that.
