Good observation
I met a man who, during our brief acquaintance, told me he began paying the AOL bill for a woman friend of his. During that time, he called AOL and since he owned the account, changed her password to enter under her name. He then proceeded to read all emails and essentially became here. It was at that point I decided the man was a crazy person. Anyone who goes to such lengths is crazy. Going into your computer without your permission is likely to go into your purse or personal papers. They just are not thinking right.

Be persistent and do not do face to face confrontationj with this man. I'd hire an atty and have any correspondence come from teh atty. The more people involved the better. Eventually, he should feel diminished and move on.

Good luck.
Here's a good link to explain it

Now, aren't you just a class act! For some reason you took my post to heart, hmmmmm wonder why?
HMMMMM
I got a sneaky suspicion that I am not liked around here and I just don't know why?
Hmmmmm
Or haven't you heard?
hmmmmm
This proves my point - NO ONE RESPONDED TO SAY WHERE THEY WORK.
Hmmmmm. Medifast might be for me.

Sounds like it might be easy to stick to.   Did losing that much weight that fast cause loose skin like you see on the plastic surgery show on the Discovery Health channel?

35 years this year, hmmmmm
My income?
Well Michael...

According to my sis-in-law who, with my brother ARE both florist, he's not gay either lol.. and the 6 little knee biters that call him Dad kinda confirms that.  So not all MT's or florists are gay

Michael re answers
Good to hear the change is working great for you.  My sister was an RN also until 52, got so burnt out and *retired*.  I think she is a "professional" RV'r now, traveling with her and hubby all over....in otherwords, enjoying the heck out of life.
Welcome to the board Michael

Hope we can all continue to give your a few laughs

It truly does get to be hilarious at times, just wait till one opinion posted starts a whole nuclear meltdown :)

No problem Michael
I'm used to overlooking errors that men make.
Gee Michael I am jealous she sm
didn't even reply to me! haha. That sounds really professional doesn't it? Obviously she is someone trying to work from home who doesn't have a clue and just trying to make some bucks. She can't possibly be experienced or she wouldn't put an ad in with the emphasis on computer skills and not MT skills! She is the loser!
Michael Jackson
I can't get enough of that guy.  His brothers Jermaine and Tito are very hot too and his dad, Joe, ain't bad either!
beyond Michael Moore
Perhaps you should check into the realities of the health care of those countries rather than take Michael Moore's word for it! You may find all is not what was presented in this very one-sided film. The grass is NOT always greener. I won't "flame you" as you said, but I would encourage you to do some research before jumping to conclusions.
just an observation...pls sm
There are some genuinely UGLY people in this world.  I think working at home, not being out in the "real world" a lot kind of makes one forget how truly rude and obnoxious people can be.  And then we come to a place like this for support, to chat, post sometimes senseless messages, and what do we get... is what we get...it's so sad. Where are all the nice people, people who care about other people.  They certainly aren't here... (jumping off now)
Observation, sm
Be careful, very, very careful. You might see your post disappear before long.

It's sad that so many are allowed to call each other "hag", "bi$ch", etc., on this board. They're allowed to tell each other to "get a life", "shut up", "look it up yourself", etc. But, if you post something like this, it gets wiped away. No explanation given.

We have come to expect to get cut off in traffic, to have the teenage yahoo flip us the bird, know for a fact the MIL is gonna give us heck, but here I always expected a certain degree of decency. That is no more.

Thanks for your attempt to speak out, at any rate. Btw, there are still a few of us out here who remember and practice the old way, the right way (?) to communicate with other members of our profession.
my observation
I can sure relate to what you are saying. But i think there are plenty of nice people here -- reading --- but not posting as much as others, just picking their spots or responding by private e/m, for the reasons you stated.

you just have to act like a duck, and let it run off your back (not easy, i know).

words to a song come to mind -- i know some of you will recognize it -- "this world is not my home, i'm just a passin' through...."
Just an observation...

I was noticing in looking at posts of folks who need word help that often they are stumped by the most BASIC words.  Sometimes I notice that words within the posts that the poster DOES know are even misspelled.  Don't mean to bash here, but how are these people qualified to do medical transcription?  Could this possibly be contributing to the decline in pay we are seeing?  Shouldn't QA be telling these folks to work in-house somewhere for more training?

I remember when I first started I thought the dictator was saying "AT&T" when he was actually saying HEENT.  That's how green I was!!  That was 15 years ago and I worked for FOUR YEARS in-house full time before I tried ANYTHING at home.

Just an observation....

The religion thread was removed completely even though she was not trying to debate anything, only asking for opinions about what church to try WHILE the depression thread about the loss of her father (which incidentally I think should stay too) was not touched even though there is also a board for depression.  Just curious as to why religion is such an offensive thing to people in general these days?  This is the main board where people discuss all sorts of things.

Just an observation
flames only mean that more than 200 people have read your post. The people responding to your post have no control over whether or not you get a flame.
Observation
You don't know what you don't know.
Hello Michael and Welcome. Did you see this exchange about Franky Boy

penned in at the moment because of unethical practices of MQ,

but in essence you have "given" us to your competition. Your competition may have

been weakened by your siphoning off of MTs to work for MQ for a while

mostly because you became a monopoly, but with all the manpower

going to your broken competition and hospitals who are tired of being

manipulated with smoke and mirror business, see how good your name smells in

the medical field in about a year.

The resumes are flying like kites out there right now, can you see them?

Those are not clouds in your coffee those are your livelihood in the medical

field going up up up and away.

Enjoy your card game now. I think the slight of hand way of doing business

has just about seen its day.

Any company that cannot ever give how a line is counted and show

the method an MT is paid - so that the MT can double check her "billing" is

not an ethical institution. We don't work for the suprise we get in the bank at the end of 2 weeks of chasing work around your company, we work for the

money. We are business people just like you. You, MQ, would not do business without a clear contract and yet you have expected MTs to

work on a line count that is by YOUR FORMULA which you can't share! How insane is that?

Why, yes, yes I am! If you don't like my company, please move on! This company has been in business for many, many years and I intend to keep it that way. None of you little peon transcriptionists can do anything to change that. I want only positive and productive transcriptionists working for me, and sorry honey, but you do not fall into that category. If I am such a bad, bad man, then why I ask, do you take my money every 2 weeks in your paycheck? Good golly ladies, get a life and leave my company alone. I do have lots and lots of competitors out there so go see how happy you are with them, but I will tell you right now this door only swings one way so don't come crawling back a cryin' saying you had it too good here - as the saying goes, "you don't know what you got til it's gone." For some, I understand that it will take you leaving to find that out and to that end, I say good riddens, adios amiogos, farewell, and goodbye.

No need to fix your makeup - you look good either way, although I love it most when you wear your red lipstick - YUMMY. By the way, did you get your bonus I put in your check? You have been such an outstanding and dedicated employee and one that I truly respect. Keep up the good work. I have been doing my best to keep your work pool busy by taking the other fat and ugly people's work from them.

just an observation, but I don't believe that lady had PPD
I believe she was psychotic. It's hard to second guess a diagnosis, but as I remember she had been ill for some time; her problem was not really post-partum depression. Does anyone else remember the details of this?
Just an observation, but is there some kind of
has to stink?  I have satellite....over 300 channels.  Something like 30 movie channels and can't find anything worth watching.  I know it's a silly post, I was just thinking out loud I guess.
But will make an observation
I'm sure he is the doctor and you are only supposed to type the report, not determine if the treatment he gave is proper or not. I don't think we are doctors.
CMT re-cert observation

Am I missing something?  It's cheaper for me to redo the test from scratch than to buy the recertification/educational materials.

Just a personal observation...
But are you as dissatisifed and miserable with your personal life as you seem to be with the MT profession?

You seem to go out of your way to spew negativity at even the most benign of posts.

I find myself sitting here and shaking my head at your posts. hoping that SOMETHING in your life pleases you or brings a smile to your face.

If you're as unpleasant IRL as you appear to be on these boards, I truly feel sorry for you.

I hope things start improving in both your personal and professional life, as you are quite frankly becoming just a dark cloud soon to be ignored and avoided by anyone stumbling across your animosity-filled posts.
Michael Villarante and Eden De Castro are the
Jannaka, from very reliable source jannaka is still there. stop your lying and get a life.
Don't have an attitude. Just making an observation.
If you want to move on to something else that's great because not everybody can do that. I've done that in the past. Used to be a nurse and moved to transcription. The money's better and I have more freedom for other things. I just thought from reading your posts that you were very happy with your job and I just found it amusing that you were in the process of changing careers. Hope you do well in medical school.
to just an observation (NICE reply)

My 17 y/o just cringes when I share some of these threads..she calls it reality keyboarding...nothing left unsaid..like one tries to out do the other with cynical, spiteful, namecalling...back to K teens call it these days, I interpret that as a bunch of 5 y/o's namecalling on the playground.

Yes, there are still many of us that do not engage in the need to try to make ourselves look better by bashing others, but somehow those tend to get the attention.

my observation on some recent posts

there is the thread about podiatry, posts about companies, posts about cherry picking,  ESLs taking over, this company is the best.     How many hundreds of us are on these boards???   Its a good thing we are all individuals - and there is so much work out there because one type of person could not do all the types of work.  Not everyone wants to work for big corporation  - not everyone wants to run their own MT service.

Some of us hate short little clinic notes, some hate long operative reports.  Some love radiology, others want to type IMEs. Never work for a company that IMs you all day vs  this company never gives feedback.

Where I  recently worked - we always used to leave behind certain reports for the late shift person, stuff we all thought she loved until one day she complained - how come I HAVE TO DO ALL the _____ studies..  Its kinda funny- you might think someone is cherrypicking all the CT's and they think they are doing you a favor by leaving short reports.

Of course NO ONE likes the really awful individual dictators, whether it is ESL or chewers, the accounts that have a million details or QA that keeps changing. I think most of us know you have to take some bad with the good and when you TRY to do the tuff stuff, the good stuff becomes easier.

So  when someone comes to vent - cut them some slack - who cares about typos here - we all know that when we are working, we use our spellchecks and pay attention to details.

When I take time to answer on this board, it is never with judgement - I always try to say "in MY experience, psych reports are bad because ..."  or when I worked for  XYZ company, they did not count lines correctly.  You cannot make generalities about  a profession as varied as this one.

I come here for information AND entertainment - it does take a certain type of person to do this work -  that has nothing to do with the skills involved - and I think we share an understanding of each other, even as we argue over everything.    We all saw a part of ourselves in the recently posted "You Might Be a Transcriptionist If..." and we all laughed as we shook our heads.

Sad to say I am about to make the decision to try a career change - I cannot push myself anymore (after almost 30 years) to produce enough lines to make the money I need - thats not to say it can't be done these days, just that I don't want to/can't  work that hard anymore.

This is an important observation. The team spirit is hard to sustain
when it is a free for all. Yes, getting a decent paycheck is important. No one knows that better than me. But, have a relaxing enjoyable day on the job would be a real nice change.

When we were paid by the hour, prior to line counts, it was sure nice.

I wonder what occurs in India regarding this situation. I wonder if they have the same issues as the American MTs. Even in Canada, being a different country, I wonder if ethics and working as a team is stressed. In each job I have had in the last 10 years, being a part of "the team" has been stressed over and over, but this doesn't seem like good sportsmanship.

I would like to say to management that if this is the approach, why not say to the MTs that they can go in and type at any time they would like. It would then be understood and acceptable and we would all go that route. Rather than feeling somewhat unsettled by the fact that I now have to sit with no work for two hours because an MT has worked off her schedule.

I bought a wedge at Michael's for about 59 cents. Bought one for my SM
Lanier station so I could see the display and one for my keyboard.
Please explain further.
What do you mean by WT? Do you paste report into a Word Document?
explain please
what happened?
Could you explain please exactly what you mean?
I want to be aware of anything I may not know about.

I just ran a numbers check in Word, using "Tools" "Word Count" for all my work I did yesterday and the numbers were exactly the same - characters with spaces divided by 65 - except it appears the company software does not round up so you may lose a line there. Otherwise, they were exactly the same.

Thanks so much.
That's what I was trying to explain the other day -

I was hired to hold a sign at a construction site.  I was offered more money than I was making at MQ after being with them 6 years.  I have been doing MT for years and years, and my skills are non-marketable.

AT the construction site:  I don't have to know computers, buy one, keep up with one, be responsible for one, have the internet, deal with updating computers to satisfy a company.

All I have to do is show up.

At MQ they wanted more and more and more.  Buy more equipment, know proper English, type fast, no errors, NO RAISES, no work most of the time (their solution was more accounts, what a joke!), offered tech support/make an appointment, offered QA/make an appointment/we will call you within 48 hours.

The way I see it is MQ is covering itself with NUMBERS of transcriptionists.

They don't care if we make a living, only that their dictation is done.

They are going to go through us like water/we can't make a living/ok, they kick that girl to the curb and bring in the next MT/and so on.  IT'S NUMBERS, BABY!

They think because they have some sort of "idiot program" going where you supposedly can hire a warm body to clean up jibberish spit out by a voice recognition machine, they can hire 1000 indians or girls with borderline education (after they have driven any experienced MTs who were making anything near livable wage away), and pay them pennys they have the answer to medical transcription and still charge megabucks to hospitals and they will make the king's ransom in profit because they have little or nothing invested (remember they just got rid of the 1-800 phone numbers saving millions of bucks), and now want to pay pennys for editing.

Well, I am off to hold my sign for $10/hour PLUS BENEFITS AND WORKMAN'S COMP, INSURANCE, RETIREMENT, HOLIDAYS.  And I will look  back in every once in a while at whoever stays in this business while MQ takes it down the tubes.

Hey "bumed" you have it right.  And I'm afraid it's not going to turn around until you see piles of blitzed MTs over in the corner.  It is a non-career and thanks to the suits they have brought the quality of medicine down below putrid.  Get out.  Don't spend any more money to accommodate these profiteers.  Look out for yourself.   Think outside the box.  Right now the world is a little upsidedown because everything for the moment is "bottomline".  It can't go on this way forever or we will all be dead from "bottomline" thinking.  And while it is turning around, look here and there - and don't let MT take you down with it.  Good luck to all of us.

That would explain it....
So she is stuck at the age when she was molested, which would be about 6.  Poor Yuck!  I feel sorry for Yuck!
Perhaps you can explain this to

HOUSEHOLD INCOME DOWN, POVERTY UP:
MORE THAN 1 MILLION FELL OF MIDDLE CLASS IN 2004

Before President Bush took office, under Democratic leadership, income was on the rise, jobs were expanding, and the economy was booming. Today, the Census Bureau announced that real household income has decreased in 2004, falling for the fourth consecutive year. Since the beginning of the Bush Administration, household income has declined nearly $1,700. Over 1.1 million people fell out of the middle class into poverty in 2004, an increase of 5.4 million people living in poverty since Bush took office. Despite this, Republicans still have no plan to help struggling middle class families. Democrats are fighting to create jobs and keep good paying jobs here at home.
HOUSEHOLD INCOME DROPPED SINCE BUSH TOOK OFFICE

Household Income Declined by Nearly $1,700 Under Bush. For the second consecutive year, median household income declined: income dropped last year by $93 -- down to $44,389. In real terms, median household income has declined by $1,669 since 2000. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table A-1]

African Americans And Latino Household Incomes Have Declined by More Than $2,000 Under Bush. Real median household income did not increase between 2003 and 2004 for African Americans and Latinos. African American households had the lowest median income, at $30,134--down by $2,273 since Bush took office. Median income for Hispanic households was $34,241 in 2004--down by $2,141 since Bush took office. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table A-1]

Average Earnings by Women Declined by About $330 in Real Dollars During the Past Year. The median earnings of women declined over the past year, from $31,550 to $31,223. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table A-2]
1.1 MILLION PEOPLE FELL OUT OF THE
MIDDLE CLASS AND INTO POVERTY IN 2004

Number of People Living in Poverty Increased by 1.1 Million in 2004. Approximately 1.1 million people fell out of the middle class into poverty in 2004, an increase of 5.4 million people living in poverty since Bush took office in 2001. The poverty rate has increased from 12.5 to 12.7 percent over the past year, increasing for the fourth consecutive year. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table B-1]

Nearly 1 in 5 American Children Lived in Poverty During 2004. 13 million children lived in poverty in 2004, an increase of about 1.4 million since the beginning of the Bush Administration. This comes on the heels of a 730,000 increase in the number of children living in poverty in 2003. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table B-2 ]

Disproportionately High Number of African Americans and Latinos Live in Poverty. Nearly 25 percent of all African Americans (9 million) lived in poverty in 2004, an increase of over 250,000 over the past two years. Nearly 22 percent (9.1 million) of Latinos lived in poverty, an increase of almost 500,000 over the past two years. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table 3]

1.9 Million More Americans Enrolled in Medicaid in 2004. As 1.1 million Americans dropped out of the middle class and into poverty in 2004, the enrollment rate in Medicaid increased from 12.4 percent of the population in 2003 to 12.9 percent in 2004. Without the safety net of Medicaid and SCHIP for people who dropped into poverty, the health insurance numbers would be even worse. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05, page 16 ]
NEARLY 46 MILLION AMERICANS LACK HEALTH INSURANCE: NUMBER OF UNINSURED INCREASED BY SIX MILLION SINCE 2001

Today, the Census Bureau announced that the number of people without health insurance nationwide increased to 45.8 million, the fourth consecutive annual increase. A total of 800,000 Americans became uninsured last year - many because fewer employers offer health insurance to their workers. As a consequence, American families are paying higher and higher health insurance premium - which are expected to double under Bush's tenure by 2006. Yet, Bush and Congressional Republicans lack a real plan to address the problem.
ONE IN 7 AMERICANS LACK HEALTH INSURANCE

Nearly 46 Million Americans Are Uninsured--Increasing for the Fourth Year in a Row. The number of Americans lacking health insurance increased by 800,000 last year--and by 6 million since Bush took office in 2001. Today, a total of 45.8 million people are uninsured--roughly one in seven Americans. [U.S. Census Bureau, 8/30/05; Table HI-4]

Should not have to explain
We are allowed to do things for ourselves once in a while.  It seems ridiculous that we have to "explain" how or why we are doing something because we feel guilty.  I think it is great that you are able to do what you can do living in Florida especially with your hurricaine season being what it has been.   I think it is great and go and have a good time.
Would you please explain what
you mean by "they/"  Who are they?  Do you mean newbies, anybody choosing to answer your ad, experienced MTs, dogs, cats, what? That is such a generalization.  Explain yourself.
please explain ...
I thought ERs are generally very short reports. Nowadays if we get paid by the line, you can't earn much for a short report. How does that work ?
