if this is what you want to do...

If MT is really what you want to do, then invest in a good course from one of the top three schools, and go into it knowing that these courses are NOT easy, and that you are going to have to work for relatively low wages when you are starting out. Towards the end of the Career Step program, you can apply for their Spheris Training Track, which leads to an entry-level job with Spheris. Grads do get jobs--but sometimes it takes applying to a lot of companies to find the right fit for you. I think the only way taking an MT course is a mistake is if you are taking it under the delusion that you can study for just a few months and get a well-paying job working at home in your spare time...it's just not like that. A lot of places that are just trying to sell you a course make it sound like it's easy, but it's not. It is, however, very interesting and fun, so if you are sure this is what you want, don't be discouraged! You may have to work for a lower wage at first, but once you get your line rate up, you can earn a respectable salary working at home. Can't beat that!
