Who had time to read?LOL I only get a chance to read This Old House once in a while. (nm)

Don't have time to read
it right now, but people have a horror of so-called socialized medicine even though we already have it in the VA system. And from all accounts it works well.

It's okay to provide our reps in government with the best health care but feel that we don't deserve it?

Strange that "socialized" is such a scary word for so many. We have a socalized fire department and police department. They don't check for coverage to help you do they?

We are the only industrial country in the world that does not provide health care to all of its ciitzens, It is something of which this country should be ashamed.
You cannot believe what you read all the time on these boards.
Best to ask the company if you have a question.
How sad. I read one time in Ann Landers, I think it was

Rather than ask them if they need anything, just do something, like bring food over (not right away, they will have enough) but maybe every week or so for several months, not on a regular basis, more "spontaneously."  Volunteer to sit with their other children if they have any, so that they can do whatever.   Things like that.  Just so they know you are there for them.

Who has time to read books?

I'm too busy trying to juggle 3 jobs, and spending time reading a book has become a luxury I just can't afford.  Can really relate to the OP.

I keep hearing how great the economy is, and I'm starting to wonder if that's simply just not true.

I'm like this all of the time! And now that I've read this
and became aware of my chair position, I have to adjust again!  I think it's just one of those little MT quirks we all have.
Please take some time to read up on the subject and....
...we can bring the discussion back up to a higher level. It's hard to discuss when the basic fund of knowledge isn't shared by all involved.
Does anyone actually take the time to read the posts BEFORE replying?
been "mentoring" with them for 9-months.....so Yes, she has already been taken for the $$$, and obviously being shot down saying she is not quite good enough yet to "work" for them. ---Ever now and then someone will come on and say they "work" for them and how great they are, but its a bunch of bunk, look at the archives, 99% negative, total scam all the way. Sorry you got taken.
You have not taken the time to carefully read the posts then
Don't come into the middle of something and start accusing the wrong people of stirring up trouble.  I think you need to take a chill and read the posts below.  If you take the time and stop looking at it with a prejudiced eye, you will also be able to see the thread.  You are defending the wrong person here.
EVERYONE SHOULD TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE POST ABOVE FROM RutgersFanMT.
This is an example of how at least one company manipulates both the Transcriptionist and their own clients to their detriment and to the company's gain. And it is all true.
I was going to say to trust yourself and not re-read everything you type, but within the time
it took me to read your post and then go check my mail, I received my monthly QA report and had two errors where I didn't pay attention and put "female" instead of "male".  Talk about feeling like a complete airhead!  Just goes to show you that you're going to make dumb mistakes no matter how long you've been at this or how much you trust yourself.
Read this all the time here, simple solution
why gripe and get all hung up on something that is the way it is and apparently the people complaining do not see any change, disappointed with their lives, money, children, whatever. Life is much too short to just sit back and complain. I have free speech, it is guaranteed and I will use it. I have never in my life seen so much "woe is me" type posters. People find it much easier to sit on their duff and complain about what they perceive their lives to be rather than trying to rectify the situation.
Best post I've read in a long time.
I tend to go back and forth with my feelings about this profession. In the mornings I am glad I do not have to get up, get ready and go to an office. Many times in the evening, after I have during the day and still have work to do, I feel like stuffing it all. Many times I am disheartened when I get my paycheck, but I am glad to be getting one, while my sister worries about getting laid off from her manufacturing job. MT has advantages and disadvantages.
Unfortunately most docs don't care; they don't even read the reports most of the time.
It's OUR job to comply with quality standards.
I haven't read any of the other replies regarding Time Warner
so forgive me if this was already noted. I have the all in one package phone, internet and cable and haven't heard anything about this at all. Nothing's been in our paper or on the news. I guess I'll just have to wait and see and worry about it then.
I work and do not have time to read such long posts, do you?..nm
nm
If they don't read their reports how do they know what's wrong with patient next time he sees

Yer right... half the time the docs dont even read the reports. (nm)

Oh, my. That's the funniest thing I've read in a long time.
AHDI: Solving the world's problems, one foreign MT at a time.

In 12 years of MT'ing I've never re-read an entire chart. Edit/read as I type. nm

Yes, I read your post, and I just re-read it, and I've copied and pasted for you in case

you've forgotten your own words! Your post above is 100% different "flavor" to it, now all positive and cheery! Your first post was 100% doom and gloom every which way, including "raining on your parade", and "if you want to go forward"...God, sounds like she's talking about jumping into oncoming traffic! Here is your quote:

My first boss (the one who hired me as a new grad) gave me some words of wisdom that I haven't forgotten. She said that transcribing at home with small children NEVER works under any circumstance. Either the work will suffer or the parenting will suffer.

****

How can the word "NEVER" in caps be interpreted in any positive way? You took about 8 paragraphs to cover every aspect and completely dash this poor woman's dream.  I'm not blind, I'm not talking about day care at all, I'm talking about the total negativity of your original post! You know exactly what I'm talking about, cause you added some sugar to your second version! And that's much nicer than the first!

Oh I've read that site and continue to read it...sm
I agree...much motivation there. I have tried to quit numerous times in the past and did successfully quit when I was pregnant for the first time many years ago but I have never managed to summon up the strength or resolve to stay quit. Thus the "need" for a financial investment in my efforts. It somehow makes it more motivational to know that I have $$$ invested in this effort over and above the $$$ saved on cigarettes.
I didn't read the other posts but just read this
My daughter got pregnant at 17, said she wanted an abortion but BF didn't. I have a wonderful 2-1/2 yo grand daughter that I don't think I could live without...and now, guess what? I don't. I have custody of her. She was dropped off on my door, I got court ordered temporary custody and final custody hearing in a month.

I'm single with no family support. I had just taken a new MT job one month before this happened and they have been wonderful during my adjusting to being a mom again and I hope I can resume a normal schedule by next week.

I'm passing no moral judgments or giving moral advice. The situation is what it is. My prayers are with everyone involved.
Definitely an eye-opening read. Having my teens read it, too. nm

Working full time at home with small children is hard but part time works great
is almost impossible. You will either have to work when your spouse is home or for only a few hours during the day and then more when they are asleep. I work part time at home and my kids (2&5 now) have done very, very well. They are great kids, very well behaved, don't get into much. I stop working to check on them/give them some attention every hour or so while I work (5 hours each afternoon or so) and they get all my attention in the morning and at night. It has worked out beautifully for us.
Yeah, our choc. lab does that from time to time - makes it interesting!- nm

Cannot legally require you to commit time to them as an employee and then not pay you for that time.

full-time in office/ part-time at home
I currently work full-time in a physician's office and have started part-time online. My hope is to eventually go full-time online; however that will be done the road for a single mom with a son in college. My suggestion would be try to type part-time for a MTSO and see how that goes i.e work and money with a decision down the road for ultimately being home all the time. A guaranteed paycheck is always a necessity for me. Hope this helps.
I work part-time hours with full-time pay...
I made over 26,000 this year...
I work a full time and a part time, but not sure about 2 full-time...
My hubbie is disabled and I am the only one in my family working also, so I fully understand. You will not have a day off at all working 2 full-time as that is going to be the only way you will get in all your hours. I work one job in the mornings from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the other from 5 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and do have off one day a week, but if I had to get in the extra 15 hours to make the other job full-time I am not sure how I would do that other than lose my only day off. Also, make sure you have your account specifics in front of you at all times because you will get yourself confused as to who is what and having notes will help in that area. Good luck to you, as it is possible, but forget about your house being clean, having any social life, etc. Feel free to email me personally if you just need someone to talk to, as I have been where you are and still am.
Maybe they will. Give it time. It takes time to set up links.
OSI, Precyse, etc tell us more.
full time, part time, statutory
newly defined full time...

newly defined part time....(which is an added classification)

I believe statutory just was not mentioned because there is nothing new about the definition of statutory.
full time/part time/statutory
The definition of full time is new.

There is a new classification called part time.

I believe statutory was not mentioned merely because that has not changed and they do not receive PTO/benefits.
I work 1 full-time, 2 part-time....nm

its a waste of time yet you take the time to respond?

**yawn time for your bed time old thinker*
Hippie??  What pray tell is a hippie?  Im not judgmental..I dont care what another is partying about or with or whom they are with..Im not a cop or the warmonger in the White House..far be it from me to judge another..You, however, by your post seem to have grown old before your time..I recommend you just graze on your back yard grass and leave us **alive ones** alone..**yawn**, time for you to go to bed now, hun?  Bye..bye..old person..
I do believe she is good enough, and has more than proved that time and time again. NM

part-time or full-time
I'm curious. Are you FT or PT? Thanks.
4 week's time or 4 weeks' time
Does anyone know this one. I will see the patient back in 4 week's time, 4 weeks' time or 4 weeks time. Can't seem to find this in any of my reference books. Thanks in advance.
1 full time and 1 part time for now
I am still pretty new, so that is all I am taking on. I may take on more after I get more experience, if possible.
I never denied that I need a break from time to time, but
I was just stating how I took her post and the fact that I am worried about how my son will react since he is already getting quite upset. But, yes, any parent SHOULD be able to admit that they need a break from time to time...we're only human too! :)
even ISPs have to do maintenance from time to time--sm
and most do this during the wee hours of the morning when MOST people are sleeping and not using the internet. They need to upgrade their services and virus protection just like the home users. This is probably what occurred.
I recently requested time off for the first time...
(3 days off) and gave 2 weeks notice but was asked by my boss to give more notice next time.  I thought 2 weeks was decent, but next time I will give at least 30 days.
Do we enter each time there is a new prize, or just the one time?

thanks.
