lexapro

I took Lexapro for a while. It helped, but then I got way too nice and let everyone walk all over me (I'm known as "feisty" LOL). When I quit taking it I just quit, no weaning or anything. I didn't have any noticable weight gain while I was on it, that I recall, but this was after I went through treatment and I DID gain weight, but it was needed weight, and didn't gain faster than a 'normal' weight gain.

Dunno 'bout the pinkie thing. Maybe you hit it on the headboard in your sleep? or maybe from the way you type, who knows, I sure don't! LOL

about Lexapro

It's in the same family as Zoloft but does not have the same side effect as weight gain.

In terms of withdrawal symptoms, NEVER stop taking an antidepressant (among others) without consulting your doctor. It takes several weeks to come off the medication, and it needs to be done under doctor's supervision.

I would try Lexapro or Zoloft.

Off Topic. Does anyone take Lexapro?

I was on it for generalized anxiety disorder and it worked great.  I felt like me minus the anxiety.  No side effects at all.  But I did some research about weight gain and so I stopped taking it.  I was only on it for one month and the weight gain supposedly starts to appear after a few months to a year.  And we arent just talking 5 pounds or so.  People are reported 30-50 pounds.

I would like to go back on it but I have been really good with my exercise routine and am really looking forward to fitting nicely into that bikini this summer.  I am torn.

Anyone out there who takes Lexapro and has not gained weight????

Lexapro and Zoloft are from the same family, but
To my knowledge, Lexapro only works on depressive symptoms. OTOH, Zoloft will also help with things like OCD, anxiety, and panic attacks.
Anybody take Lexapro? I just started and have some questions.

I was told that I would not have to wean myself off of this medication if I chose to stop taking it.  I was told that there are no withdrawal symptoms.  I was told I could take it forever if I like.

I have been taking it for four days now and have never felt better.  The only side effect  have noticed is that my left pinky hurts really bad.  I have not injured it and the only thing I have done differnetly is to start taking the Lexapro.  Could this really be from taking this drug?

I am concerned becuase after researching this drug online I am finding stories about horrible withdrawal symptoms and also a lot of stories about weight gain.  I do not want to gain weight, obviously, so this is a concern for me.

I also do not want to be taking a drug that is going to cause horrible withdrawal symptoms if and when I choose to quit.

Anybody else taking Lexapro and if so, I would love to hear your experience.

Also, anyone taking natural remedies like Kava Kava, Sam-E, or 5-HTP?
