mine is a Belkin - easy to hook up

think I paid about 35.00 but it is a little white button that you toggle back and forth.  Great little thing.  I spent forever rolling chair back and forth between computers.  Got it at Staples.

Can you just hook up what you want?

I would prefer to just hook up my external keyboard and mouse that I use for my regular computer but would prefer to use my laptop's monitor. I assume you can just plug in what you want to be able to switch back and forth, correct?

I have a nice large LCD monitor, but I have room for my laptop to sit right in front of at my desk so I would just as soon use that as it seems at a more comfortable level for my eyes for viewing. My big monitor is on a pedestal on an L-shaped (corner) desk and I think is actually up too high probably for someone short like myself. I don't think I can take the pedestal/stand off my monitor either as it wouldn't sit safely where my monitor is suppose to sit. :(

I have been using my laptop for my on-line job as it is faster than my regular computer anyway. I use my regular computer for my own account, unless traveling, then I will be doing my own account on it when we camp on week-ends when I have work to do. :D

TIA.

It does. It's a Belkin.
I think I'm going to just have to deal with it. :-)
Belkin

My employer wants me to try using an ergonomic keyboard and supplied me with a Belkin model.

I tried it for a couple of hours and despised it, so I switched back to my regular HP keyboard.

Has anyone else tried a Belkin ergonomic keyboard, and if so, did you find you had to literally slam your thumb into the space bar in order to have it work correctly?

Since I don't like this one, I'm sure they'll want to order me another type.  Besides the Kinesis Advantage (which I think they would deem too expensive),  any recommendations for an ergonomic keyboard with a nice light touch?

TIA, ladies!!!

Belkin
If anyone comes across a Belkin ergo keyboard and is considering it, just a heads-up that I had one but the keys required such a forceful keystroke to "engage" that my entire arms up to my shoulders were sore.

Maybe the one I had was defective, but I've steered clear of Belkin products since. I'm currently using a Microsoft Ergo keyboard and it seems to be okay.

Let us know what you come up with.
Lanier hook up

I purchased a Lanier 230 and come to find out it did not come with the required cables to hook this stupid thing up.  I got the base unit with large display, the power supply, the foot pedal, and the VTI but no cables.  Can someone tell me what cables I need and how to plug it in so it will run properly?  The only thing that came with it is the quick check brochure on how to program it.  Nothing is mentioned on hook up.

Thank you in advance everyone.  I would like to get to work on an account but don't even know how to get started.  I figured posting here would get a quicker response.  I don't want to go bald... hehe

Where can I buy Belkin Omniview? SM

A friend gave me one a long time ago, but now I'm afraid it might break and I don't have a backup.  I looked at CompuUSA, but they don't carry the quality one I want.

Is there a mail order source?  I know I sound like a feeb, but I just don't know where to look to buy this.  I'm prepared to pay $300-400 or whatever the cost. I just need a two port one.

I'm not looking to purchase this from someone here, really, I just would like to know vendors that sell this type of equipment.

Thank you.

Sony hook-over-the-ear (sm)
Okay, so I don't know what you really call them, but I have tried sooo many different types of earphones because I am kind of funny about what feels good on my head.
I found these little Sony earphones that have a hook that is kind of like a pair of eyeglasses that holds the sponge-covered speaker to the outside of your ear. They are on a "Y" wire, so there is nothing over the head, and you can use just one if you need an ear to hear what the kids are getting into.
I bought mine at Radio Shack for about $20.00 last year, but I've seen them other places (probably even Walmart), so I'm sure if you're interested, you can find them. Sorry I can't remember what they are called. If not, e-mail me and I will take a picture of them and send it to you.
getting ready to set-up a belkin
this weekend, ps2 ...
will let you know.

I hope someone with experience answers ...

Belkin. Have had it many years with no
problems at all.  Have my work computer, home computer and mom's computer upstairs linked to it.  Works great.
I have a Belkin and it works great.

Belkin TuneBuds for IPod - sm

I just bought a pack of 5 pairs of these things at Kohls for $10.  They are the exact same foam thingies that go on my headset, and they come in fashion colors!  Just an FYI if anyone has been looking for foam things.

Anyone here have the Belkin ergo keyboardSM

I just bought one on Amazon.com (it should be here on Friday).  Just wondering what you all think of it?  I really liked my MS ergo elite keyboard, so I wonder if I'll be disappointed by trying to save a few bucks.

Thanks for your feedback! :)

I use a Belkin wireless router
for mine. Signal is strong from the router to the wireless too. It comes with instructions on how to hook it all up, pretty simple. Remember you have to set up BOTH computers when you do it (router to main PC, then USB card to the other). But I have broadband and not sure how it works with dail-up.

I don't understand why people use dial-up anymore or even DSL with limits. I have RoadRunner via Brighthouse and my entire cable/phone/internet package is $130/mo, and that's with HBO,Showtime,Cinemax. Unlimited calling and no restrictions on my internet usage. Now they offer to bump up your connection speed for a fee but I've never needed anything more than the basic connection.
Can you hook up two monitors to your computer? sm
That way, you can have the labs screen up all the time on the right screen while you are transcribing on the left screen. Then when you need to copy lab values, they are right there for you to read and type or copy and paste.
Thanks for the heads up on the Belkin. I'm crossing
this one off my list for sure...I've had to use that type of keyboard before where you have to push too hard on the keys - not good!
Belkin Ergonomic, Model # F8E208

If you Google it, you will come up with tons of places to buy it from.  I bought mine at Target for 30 bucks, well worth it and more.

I am wireless and hook foot pedal into hub. nm

Normal people don't need to hook up from behind a monitor
To sink to this level of desperation someone (especially a man) has to be:

1. Married.
2. Ugly.
3. Socially retarded and unable to meet people the real way.

It's a new level of sad.
So totally not true. I hook up after talking with them on
the phone. When you work at home WHERE are you going to meet them? I am very much not a misfit, am outgoing, but when you live in a married world, it is difficult to meet single guys. There are lots of single guys in the same rut. Think what you will. I have met some nice men from the sites who were neither ugly, married OR socially retarded. One was a judge...yes...a judge! We still see each other.

does anyone know how to hook a Lanier model LX231(sm)
with the LX-231 adapter to the power supply and flat modem box?  I'm confused as to where all the cords go.  On the adapter there are three cords.  One says station (that I assume goes to the actual transcription box with the key pad on it), another cord that goes to the power supply and another that says it goes to the telephone line.  I'm not sure where all the cords go in relation to the modem.  Can anyone steer me in the right direction? TIA
but Janelle did take her left hand off the hook
DENYING that she took her hand off the hook on the volcano.  She most certainly did and the ENTIRE audience viewing at home saw that.  I hope Julie Chen shows Janelle all the footage of that.
to hook 2 computers to cable internet do ?
you need a router and a KVM switch - what else?  Will this cause problems?
Need to hook up a USB pedal to RealPlayer. I'm sure this has been addressed before. sm
I have a test wave file I need to play.  It runs fine from my desktop, but I can't get the pedal to work.  I have an Infinity In-USB-1 I just plugged into the hard drive, but it will not play the file.  Will this work wtih RealPlayer?  TIA.
I didn't push hard with my Belkin, but
I hated how big it was and how my body didn't like it so well. I recently made the switch to the Kinesis Advantage from my Belkin, and I really, really like the Kinesis. It's so much smaller, the keys are really light to the touch, and I can set it in my lap, which I prefer to the desk. I would recommend the investment for the Kinesis if you can. Besides the thumb keys being the greatest invention ever, the number split is at 5 and 6 like on the Belkin. If you look for a reburbished Kinesis Advantage, it will save $60. It has the same warranty as the brand new one. Mine is a refurb, but it's good as new.
The easy answer, taking all the easy work and

I'll let you off the hook since you're also a Mustang lover.
I just like the '67s and '68s better because they're a little bigger and more rounded in the body style than the earlier years.  I dreamt of owning a Mustang for 20 years before I got one.
Some new puters don't have 9- or 15-pin ports anymore. You'd need a USB adapter to hook one up

Want to hook second computer to printer - what type of cord do I need?nm

I have had the same issues!!! i am gonna call my router co. too although i used belkin. sm
i have no idea about "networking" but walked myself through their installation. my net speed was horrible, so i fiddled with it and set up new user, etc through network connections. now it doesn't even show a user on my setup but yet daughter is on with laptop. so odd. we need a crash course on networking!!
I had the same problem with the Belkin and sometimes it didn't work at all so I got the Dynex and
That was my solution, maybe someone else has had a better experience with the Belkin than I did.
yeap, hoochies looking to hook their claws into a guy with any kind of money.
p
Google search shows TigerDirect and belkin.com both carry this. nm
s
I did try the Belkin and I thought it was working but the first time I let up on my foot pedal
it just stopped and froze up my computer. I tried all of the COM ports I could think of. Today, I ordered the Dynex adapter which is the other adapter that Escription recommends and I'm going to try that. I am not giving up. I do hope that in version 8 of Editscript that really do make the foot pedals USB and get into this century. It's almost impossible to find new computers that have the serial ports on them anymore. I will update you on this Dynex adapter when I try it out now. So, for the time being, I am packing along my little portable computer when I travel. It's pretty small but it's just having to bubble wrap the flat monitor that is a pain. At least, I get to work and play. It'd just be nice if I could take my laptop instead..
Oh and don't you love the "WOW, you work from home?? HEY! I can type - hook me up!" sm
That burns my hiney more than anything else. Working from home is NOT a piece of cake. I can relate to those who think since we work from home we can just get up anytime. I don't know how many times I have tried to explain that if I were working in a "traditional" office, that they wouldn't just walk in, call, etc. etc. but I don't think anybody will ever really get that our time is money, literally.
Escription users- Belkin USB adapter for foot pedal problems
Hey, as most of you know, we're stuck using the old 9-pin foot pedal. Well, I bought the Belkin adapter and set it to the ports as Escription's web site instructed, and at first, it was working when I hit the foot pedal. I heard it, and then my mouse stopped and everything froze. It did this twice to where I just had ot turn off my computer. Anyone else have this problem, and if so, what did you do. It was frustrating to get to that one, have sound..everything...and then froze up the computer completely. Thanks
Yeah I went onto the website and just ordered a Belkin adapter. It's worth a shot at this point.
I'll let you know if it works at all when I get it.
Well, Word is easy to buy and easy to install. Word 97 works great. Cheap. SM
I still would not work anywhere I could not use a spell checker with grammar checker and a Steadman's Medical Spell Checker.

IF they want people to TRANSCRIBE MEDICAL REPORTS, then I guess they better get the programs they need.

It's like probably 110% easier to buy and install Word 97 than to try to program their own programming. And, yes, I do mean Microsoft Word 97. Why? Because you can install it unlimited times, in case you need to install the operating system again. And it has a few features that Microsoft, in its un-wisdom, took away in Word 2000 and 20003 and 2007. So, yes, I'd go with Word 97 for its cheapness and it works better than the later versions. Just my opinion, with 20 years experience being an MT. So what if they "don't have it" on their computer? It's easy to get.
Funny! Mine is almost as large, and I don't mind cleaning mine!
It's no problem at all.  Besides, I'll take lots of oodles of square footage any day of the week over living in a sardine can!
Easy easy money they are!

I don't mind seeing those puppies filter in at all.  Same for H&Ps.  They are always different though, so can't really pop in the same pre-formatted autotext, but it's usually WHAMMO 2-3 pages at a time.  Give them a shot...you may just be pleasantly surprised!

I use my c-phone whenever we travel. You can hook it directly into your room phone. Be sure and as
xx
You plug it into an outlet, plug in the phone cord, hook up the
footpedal and the headset and it works.
I think I smell either VR on the easy stuff, or offshoring of the easy stuff.
d
Mine isn't like that. Mine is 2. All are programmed different.

it's all easy to say when it's not you

If the mom wasn't in Aruba throwing a fit and crying on TV, we would all speculate about why she wasn't there and why she doesn't care.  Either way, whatever she did, there would be someone there complaining about how she was doing it.

I would say until it is your daughter or son, maybe we should just keep our mouths shut and not pass judgment on them.

Also, I don't care what kind of bad decision or how drunk the young girl was, wrong though it may be, that doesn't mean she deserves to be murdered or raped.  It makes me sick that we are always so eager to jump on the victim and the family at times like this.

We are doing it now - it's not so easy for my DH

He began the process of buying a new business in April. It was supposed to be completed by July 15, but there have been so many delays and things getting dragged out, it still isn't done.  At first he was very excited about spending the some time home with the kids this summer, but I can definitely see for the last month or so he's gotten very depressed, sleeping more, not getting motivated, doesn't want to do anything with the kids anymore.  I think men in general need to be productive (at least the good ones do), and unfortunately, raising kids doesn't offer a lot of immediate gratification.  It's fun for a little while, but they eventually need more.  I can't want for him to be gone so I can be "mom" again.

That's easy enough to do when you get the
same dicators on a routine basis. I type for a very large hospital with many outside facilities and rarely do I get the same dictators on a regular basis. Therefore, my paycheck is considerably less than cherry-pickers. What these people do is listen to a few minutes of the report and, if they don't like what they hear, they send it back. Also, of note, these are not necessarily the mumblers, ESL, or speed talkers. Many of these are reports that have a problem, i.e., wrong MR# so I have to enter all of the demo info (not paid for), wrong report type so I have to change it and make a note to send to the hospital, no date of service given with again a note to the hospital, etc. All time-consuming, frustrating, and cutting into my paycheck.
very easy. I have my 2 as well as
my parents next door networked, a total of 4. make sure to have your network password protected.
that's an easy one
Worked for an owner-operated MT company and the owner was an alcoholic. She expected no less than 18 hour days 7 days a week and if you asked for even ONE day off per week, she would start cursing and carrying on and saying she would give the accounts away. Then when she got really drunk, she'd start messaging all this personal stuff about her husband and former husbands and their sex life and all that. She was this astrology nut who hired on the basis of the "signs" of the transcriptionists and if she would call to curse you out about something (even if it didn't pertain to you) she would say it was the person's "aura" that was bad for the company. Yup there are real nuts out there.
That's easy. sm
I have been a fry cook, nurse's aid, farm worker, receptionist, clerk in a U-Totem.  I kind of enjoyed all of them.  My worst job was waiting tables.  It's grueling work, for little pay and you have to rely on your tips to get you through.  It's more demanding physically than most people can imagine and you never get to sit down.   Plus, you deal with attitudes all day long.  Never again.
