In Reply to: Hello I'm about to embarke on my career - New Career

Dear New Career:  Please consider a new one.  Waitressing, factory work, retail, landscaping, or a government job.  These jobs -- such that they are -- will still afford you greater security, more money, much better benefits, and an extremely lower level of frustration than you could hope to obtain by embarking on an entry level (God bless you anyway) transcription career in the year 2005 in America.

I would not wish this career on my worst enemy.  Yeah, I expect flames, but I'm getting out.  Why?  For the above-mentioned reasons, but primarily because everything I sought to attain in this business, at this point in my life and with 25 years of experience (that is, respect and and a respectable salary commensurate with blood/sweat/tears experience) is, sadly, the exception rather than the rule.  Young person, for all of those who call me a naysayer, I ask you to REMEMBER this post, and ONE YEAR FROM NOW, if the handwriting (negative) is on the wall, GET OUT AND START SOMETHING ELSE, because it will never get better for you.  Same frustrations, different settings, that's all.

Having said all that, you probably think I don't wish you well at all.  ON THE CONTRARY!!!!!    I HOPE THAT I AM TOTALLY PROVEN WRONG AND THAT YOU ARE HAPPY, AND SUCCESSFUL, NOT FRUSTRATED, AND MAKE LOTS OF MONEY.  Best wishes.
