Don't get me wrong. Obviously, no one should suffer or die for lack of affordable care. However, do you really think govt care will change that? No, it will be rationed care and people will die waiting for care or because they are inconsidered "too old" or "not appropriate" for the care they need. The difference will be the lack of choices. If you read more about it, you will find that even people who are able to pay will wait just as long as no one will be able to "take skips" based on ability to pay. And there will be no second opinion. It will be take it or leave it. Furthermore, in this country many of those who have been without health insurance are those who are not willing to work for it, and their lack of insurance is their own fault. Like I said, don't get me wrong. I know that there are many out there who through no fault of their own have no coverage and I do know we need to find a way to fix that. However, i also know that there are many who just expect everything for nothing, and they have contributed significantly to the problems. I simply do not see a single payer, govt controlled system as a good fix. And yes, I do see Canadians and Europeans who are not happy with their system. That's why they come here. Having traveled to several European countries, I can guarantee you if I had major health issues there is nowhere i would rather be than the US. Do we want to make our care worse so we can be like them? The Canadian govt may have promised to address their problem with MRI (and let's face it; that's not the only problem), so I am sure that will be fine because we all know govt always does everything it promises. And you know, that promise doesn't really help the guy who need the MRI today. He still comes to the US because you can get help here.
