one time this happened with a chicken bone....

Posted By: see message on 2006-09-22
In Reply to: Thanks for the reply. I am - MOMT

One time I had a fast food chicken sandwich (decades ago) and it felt like a tiny bone was stuck in a manner which you described.  The store gave me a piece of soft white bread which immediately cleared the problem.  Just thought I'd share that, just in a possible future case........

Glad you're feeling better from the event.....

This has actually happened to me some time back sm

I transcribed the report.  I didn't tell the doctor about it.  I didn't tell the little MTSO I worked for and I didn't tell my family member.  I have not ever disclosed any of the information I heard, either.  As a professional, I can't be "interested" in what I am doing, not in that way.  What is contained in the medical records is not my business either.  I transcribed the report as any other.  I have to say that the family member in question doesn't know I transcribed anything to this day, although it was years ago.  It was, and is, my job to produce accurate medical records and not to concern myself to whom they belong.

I have talked to other MTs that this has happened to and they all did exactly what I did.  As a fact, the MTSO above had this happen to her.  A friend had an abortion, but told everyone she had miscarried.  This MTSO had been working for someone else at the time and had transcribed a report that discussed the abortion.  She kept it to herself because it was the right thing to do.  A gal who was a nurse at the doctor's office knew both the MTSO and the woman who lied.  SHE was the one who broke confidentiality, but before all was said and done the MTSO had been blamed for it, her boss had been blamed for it and there was quite a stink, but the leak didn't come from the MT end of the equation.

From an MTSO's standpoint, I would tell them what happened and ask for time off. sm
If one of my MTs came to me with that, I would be happy for them! I am sure if you explain what happened, they will be happy for you and will leave the door open for you. If you can give two weeks' notice, that would be best and you could take a leave of absence rather than quitting. Just talk to them. You might be surprised that we're human too :)
That's my problem... The first time it happened I flagged it and brought it to the attention (l

of my supervisor, who brought it to the attention of the doc.  She said that he got huffy and argued that there WAS such a word as "equivocable" and that he wanted me to type it.  This is not a mispronounced way of saying "equivocal".  I found that out when I flagged it the first time.  The doc actually thinks that is a word, and nobody is able to tell him otherwise, not even a dictionary entry!  That was when my boss asked me to note it on my log every time he did it so that we were covering ourselves.

Then the doc got annoyed that I was putting it on my log.  Because, after all, it was saying that the Great One was wrong! Horrors!  So then she asked me to take it off the log.  The problem with just typing in equivocal is that it is a verbatim account and this doc has it in his pea brain that "equivocable" is a word.  Secondly, there are times when he says his made-up word when the context would suggest "equivocal" and ALSO when the context would suggest "unequivocal".  I am not an MD, so I don't want to guess at which of these two very different meanings he intends based on the context, you know?

I think I am going to take the advice of the MT who suggested keeping a copy of my files, which I do, and keeping a copy of the email where my boss asked me to stop flagging "equivocable" on the log.

That chicken looks good, too! Fried chicken is the one thing
I'm terrible at making. I just can't do it. Whenever we do have fried chicken maybe once a year, I buy the frozen boxed stuff or KFC.

I haven't thought about dinner yet. I'm making muffins today, spiced applesauce muffins, Tabor City yam bread muffins, and banana zucchini muffins. Going to send some to work with hubby and freeze the rest for breakfasts.
does anyone know if bone cancer is always..sm
metastatic or can cancer originate in the bone?
Here's a bone for you to chew on...
Just because a vet recommends something doesn't make it "safe" or acceptable... MANY vets recommend pig ears and other crapola like rawhide which is TERRIBLE for dogs. There are plenty of vets who know better on both of these "recommends"

As to where they can be bought, are you KIDDING? Since when have you known giant corporations that make money to CARE about whether or not a product is safe for animals OR humans?

Sure they care - to the point they won't be sued... but an UNeducated consumer is their BEST customer.

And by the way dogs don't "hate" per se... they FEAR. That said, if you think for a New York second your dog *likes* the collar, you are fooling yourself.

If you are SO SURE they aren't abuse, put the darn collar on and shock yourself. IF you still think it's just a fine way to treat an ANIMAL THAT HAS NO CONTROL over whether or not it has to wear a collar that causes *any amount* of pain, just keep on using and ABUSING your dog.

Dont believe her, she has a bone to pick and ....
does the same cut and paste over and over again, it gets rather boring.
It can originate in the bone, as in sarcoma

HEY, Throw this poor dog a bone?

I am a "newbie", been looking for MT opportunity with no luck.  I would gladly take one of the jobs you didn't like, just for the experience......

At this time, I would just like a job doing Mt but beginning to think this was a mistake.....definitely must not be the same as it used to be.....

I'd do a neutral sand/bone color because of the blue

I would never let a bone cruncher touch me. I used to work for chiropractors
and have seen the damage they can do.  Personally, my choice is going to my wonderful acupuncturist.  She is a chinese physician who performs a combination of acupuncture, magnetic heat, massage, and herbal application.  Folks, acupuncture WORKS wonderfully for the treatment of sciatica and acupuncture has been performed in China for thousands of years successfully, so they must have been doing something right.  One suggestion, make sure you find a GOOD acupuncturist.  Believe me, you will know when you've found a good one.  Good luck!
Not worth it if you work your fingers to the bone and then never get paid
Good luck
From one who worked for MQ nearly 18 years, no matter was MQ bone they throw out, I know with a full
Always has been, always will be.
Glad I'm not the only one.. My kids have had cystic fibrosis, leukemia, mono, and bone cancer.

Osteo refers to bone. Ostial refers to a narrowing of an artery.

chicken pox
Poor child, I had the same; I couldn't swallow - even my saliva hurt going down.
As I recall, that lasted about 3-4 days.
Chicken Fat

Whole chicken. sm.
I like to bake mine whole too.  I put a full can of beer inside the cavity (up its butt sorta speaking), but then I cook it in one of those Reynold's cooking bags about 20 minutes per pound.  It falls off the bone.  Sometimes they have specials where I live where you can get them for only 29 and 39 cents a pound. I buy 3 or 4 then.
I have a chicken dog too :)
My dalmation is so afraid of storms.  She tries to crawl under my desk when it thunders and just shakes.  If I pet her for a while she will calm down.  The other day we had a storm and I was doing dishes and she tried to crawl under my kitchen sink, knocking everything out.  She also hates the vacuum and the hose.  I don't know that I would give her medication.  That may be more trying for her than the occasional storm.  Maybe letting her in your office might help if you see it is going to storm.  A few treats never hurt either!
Chicken Little
Yea. The sky is still there, but my pay/money is gone!!!!! Where'd it go??!
CHICKEN LITTLE
quit trying to stir up trouble and GO away!!! I make 52K a year TRANSCRIBING but 30 years experience -- newbies WANT the dinero but dont want to work for it -- try watching Oprah and Dr. Phil and you will understand -- LAZY work ethic "hand it to me cause I deserve it"
Chicken pox in the mouth
I'd be calling my doc asap with it being in her mouth. The home remedy I had to use was Maalox/Benadryl and doc added diluted Xylocaine to numb it. My dd had it on her uvula also. Made a concotion of yogurt with the above also and added Lysine to it to. That is after the doc had a look at her. Good luck but don't mess around.
Um, chicken, not chick.

chicken recipe
The recipe says 2 toss of garlic. Is it suppose to be 20 toes of garlic since you call this 20-garlic chicken? Thanks for your help.
20 garlic chicken. sm
At the risk of sounding dumb - are you supposed to use two whole actual things of garlic.  Garlic has always confused me.  The recipe sounds wonderful but two whole garlic or two segments of one garlic thingy?

Anyone eat chicken a la king?
Chicken a LA King Recipe
3 tablespoons butter
1 cup fresh sliced mushrooms
1/2 cup chopped green bell pepper
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 cups evaporated milk or half-and-half
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
3 cups diced cooked chicken
1/4 cup chopped pimiento

Melt butter in a medium saucepan. Add mushrooms and green pepper; cook for 5 minutes. Blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Continue stirring and cooking until smooth and bubbly. Gradually add milk and chicken broth, stirring constantly. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. If you'd like a thicker sauce, blend 2 tablespoons of cornstarch with 1/4 cup cold water; add to sauce, a little at a time, until desired thickness is reached. Cook for a few more minutes. Add chicken and pimiento; heat through. Serve on toast points or pastry shells or rice. Chicken a la King Recipe serves 6 to 8.

Sometimes I do boneless chicken
breasts marinated in barbecue sauce. Just put them in on low and let them cook all day long. They come out so tender that they just fall apart!! Also, pork tenderloin is excellent in the crockpot. You can buy them pre-marinated at the grocery store or you can mix up your own concoction. Boneless chicken breast is also excellent if you use Newman's Own Balsamic Vinegrette salad dressing as a marinade. I know it may sound strange, but I guarantee you if you try it, you'll fall in love with it!
We all know she's really having fried chicken. LOL!

Lemon asparagus chicken

4 boneless chicken breasts

1 can cream of asparagus soup

1 Tbs lemon juice

1/4 cup milk

1/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper or ground black pepper

Brown chicken breasts in 1 Tbs oil and set into a casserole dish.  Pour off any grease. Combine all the rest of the ingredients and add to frying pan to deglaze.  Bring to a boil and pour over chicken.  Bake chicken at 350 for 45 min or until done.  Serve with wild rice or something similar.  Peas are a good side with this too.
