Does this group of people really consider themselves doctors? I'm only into 10 lines in this report and so far the patient has diabetes "myelitis" and has had a myocardial "infraction". Do they buy their licenses or what? I know real medical doctors do the same thing but for cryin' out loud - 10 minutes about an ingrown toenail? You know, if you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch.

Podiatrists
That's funny cuz I also have noticed that about podiatrists.. There was one podiatrist on an account I used to work on who was really hard to do... grrr... and one now who drives me nuts... I have also noticed the same thing about physical therapists. Not all, but a lot (at least in my experience) are younger docs who speak in a monotone type of voice where it's hard to distinguish where sentence ends and another begins. I've noticed this a lot with female PTs, where they also seem to sort of slur their words together and sound like they are talking to their friends rather than dictating a medical report. Aggravating.

Well, I'm glad you have gotten all the best. I've been in this business for 30+ years, in the hospital and with a service and with my own business. I haven't heard of one that was: (1) a good dictator; (2) could pronounce other common medical terms that my 83-year-old mother can pronounce who didn't even graduate from high school, (3) had the sense to know his report is a legal document and that what he says goes into it or (4) had the common courtesy of dictating like they were responsible people. There is no reason why anyone cannot pronounce diabetes mellitus or myocardial infarction. This has nothing to do with patience. This has everything to do with verbatim accounts and sloppy dictators vs those of us who want to do a good job. I've run across my share of cherry pickers - maybe that's why I always get the bad ones. Ya think???
Why are so many podiatrists bad dictators?
Is it because they have to look at ugly feet all day? They talk too fast. They use obscure abbreviations. Do they have inferiority complexes because they work at the bottom of a person? What is it?
I've always thought that podiatrists are trying to trump themselves up into something

I LOVE typing reports for podiatrists!

My first account was for a practice of 3 podiatrists and I so wish I could find another account like that.  I miss it.
