I wish you would not make a blanket statement about things you don't understand about taxes sm
When you are an employee and you are financially responsible for your office, the heat, the electricity, the space in your house, your deductions are nearly identical.

I'll give you this though: ICs frequently make a higher line rate than an employee, at least initially. So many employers are freezing cpl increases in favor of production incentives. My company did this and the incentives are excellent. I have gotten to where my line rate with the incentives is actually higher than any IC position I have ever held. I am going to do that many lines anyway and I am well ahead on all fronts.
Use heating blanket? (nm)
.
The above post wins the Wet Blanket award... nm

I think the warming blanket excellent idea
Bought one for my bed and it is plumb yummy! I turn it on when I enter my bedroom for the night, letting it warm some and by the time I get in the bed my bed is toasty warm. I stay so cold always, run lower temps than most because of a thyroid problem. I have a space heater in my workroom that I keep on lots during the winter but that electric (half size) blanket is tops!
Tired of blanket nonproductive e-mails that chew out everyone but are really only meant for a (SM)

for a few individuals.  These are so discouraging for the ones who are doing a good job.  Supervisors are not so important that they can't take the time to change the e-mail address so the letter is sent to only those who are messing up - and, conversely, if you can't take the time to figure out who is messing up, then you won't take the time to find out who is doing a good job, so you will never give a raise.

Yes - my letter is perfect example of sending an e-mail to every supervisor and MTSO.  See how ineffective it is?  Makes you feel very defensive if you are not guilty of doing this.  Imagine how it makes me feel when I get these notes after working 10-12 hours to try to help you get caught up, and then you send out a note that basically says how lazy we all are.  Thanks a lot.  There are a lot better companies out there than you, and even a few who might appreciate high quality and high quantity work.

Good thinking Wise MT about the blanket. I use fingerless gloves for the hands. NM. Thank you for

Not defensive, trying to help you. LOL
I just read it and if it doesn't apply to me I keep moving right on!

It doesn't sound like you are able to even discuss it without posturing a bit.

Relax. If you're not doing anything wrong, why be upset?!
lol A little defensive, are we?! lol
your post sounded as if you were encouraging parents to use allowances to their kids as a tax scam. It DOES read that way.

Anyway, what's up with your comment about you not having kids, parents not paying taxes, and expecting others to pay for their education? ROFL

It doesn't sound like you have a great retirement, Patti. It sounds like you are very bitter and if it rains you risk drowning with that nose so high in the air!

It should be pointed out to you that those having children are the reason the country continues -- if everyone were like you about having children, this country would dry up and blow away! LOL

Great retirement? LOL Yeah, I just bet you do!!

Awfully defensive...
for someone who feels so great about what she did, aren't you?! just me is correct in her statement of what comes around goes around. You should keep a watchful eye behind you...cuz it'll happen to you some day too!
And YOU are a tad too defensive
Where there's smoke...

Well, you know the rest of that expression if you're American, right?

;-)
Why are you defensive? No one called your name
and again, there are plenty here who state they want to stay at home with their children, not loving this profession but way to hold kindergarten while you work, I guess. You are a newbie, you stated, so you really have no idea basically of how this profession has progressed over the years. It has not gone up, rather down.
I'm not defensive at all. I think people who call
others fools because they can't appreciate humor or don't like their views are the people who are missing the point and can't see anything but their sorry situation. When you sit in judgement of others from your high horse of course you can't find humor or anything else.  Really get over yourself or crawl back into your imagination where you are queen.
your defensive posts of this admin = the most..
.
Not defensive at all, but if you read the post,
:negative reinforcement:, to me that reads abuse. I just want to make it very clear I have never abuse any of my pets. That's all. I am not trying to be defensive at all and apologize if that is the way it was taken.
your post sounds kind of defensive and gay.
get over it.
Defensive people make the most errors
I bet... if you are good you would be quiet, if you are a bad MT you will blast poor QA lady all day.
you sound just as bitter and defensive, so we're square. nm
b
Your response sounded angry, defensive and judgmental
you gave for "walking away from the rat race." I don't buy it. I've had tough times in my life too, probably as tough as yours. It's your choice. You can either work harder and refuse to accept crap for yourself or you can get angry and bitter, which is what you've apparently done. If you're talking about turning in soda bottles for deposits, people are naturally going to deduct from that that you are or have been poor. You said it, I didn't. So if you choose to "give up," that's up to you. I chose to make something of myself nomatter what or how long it took. Read Plato's "The Republic." It's the difference between Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Thank GAWD no one has to deal with you personally..you are rude, inconsiderate, unpolite, defensive
Geesh lady!!
This post made you defensive, just like those e-mail nastygrams make us feel.

ADP STATEMENT...

I just received notification as well and mine was for $134.00.....just curious as to what its for!

I was a little put off by that statement...
I have a 2-1/2 year old with me during the day and my work does not suffer nor does my child...
That is ridiculous
Sometimes people are not where they want to be but where they HAVE to be.  If I didn't have to be sitting here listening to these idiot dictators, believe me I wouldn't be.
ridiculous? no ....
I don't think my complaint was 'ridiculous'. What is ridiculous is receiving pages of scribbles in the mail on a daily basis - half of which I can't even read. THe other MT's in the company warned me already about this QA dude - he's a bit of a nut case.
No, I never claimed to know everything; and I'm open to hearing specs of individual facilities; of course!. My gripe was the pettiness of it all ... but I thought that was obvious in my post, MS Busy MT'ing. Maybe you're the one that doesn't know it all !
That's just ridiculous. nm
nm
This is getting ridiculous.
Now there's a job on the job seekers board looking for an IC MT to do acute care with ops for 7.5 cpl.  IC!!!  With ops!!!!  Give me a break.  That's equivalent to about 6.3 cpl after paying self-employment taxes, not to mention overhead.  Their website says "HIPPA" instead of HIPAA, too.
That's ridiculous!

BUT!  We are supposed to transcribe his work with a smile on our faces....GRRRR.......  I swear they just don't THINK!!!  Good luck with that one.

That is ridiculous. Don't come WHY?
Looks like at the very least he enjoys his peace and quiet away from family but then maybe there is more to this than meets the eye.
That's ridiculous

I also have a 4-year-old and the whole point of preschool at this age is the social interaction, then the academics come in to play.  She still has another year of preschool before Kindergarten, doesn't she?  Maybe you should consider looking into another preschool.  Sounds like the teacher is the problem.

Oh please, how ridiculous!
It was her sister for crying out loud! And I can't even believe the OP was questioning this. Extremely odd! ;0
Ridiculous
That is really time consuming.  But that is my opinon.  What you could do is to by sylcount and save each patient as a file and then count them and they would list each file out by the patient name.  You could do an extension or by their name do cn for chart note, lt for letter, etc.  Then on your invoice if you do totals by doctor, Dr. Smith total lines, Dr. Jones total lines, etc. and attach the print out from Sylcount that would show each file by the patient's name and the line count.  I thought it was bad when I was subcontracting and I had to break out chart notes from letters/consults/x-rays by date and doctor.  This again makes me thank my accounts as I just keep an Excel monthly line count by doctor, highlight the docs, attach to an invoice that has total line counts done in Quick Books and hand it in and they pay.  Some accounts don't even want the daily break down by doctor just each doctor and a total line count.  Have never been questioned once over my line counts.   If this is a sudden change then I would tell them that there would be an hourly rate to figure this out and keep track of the time it takes.  But again, one of the simplest programs that would do this for you would be Sylcount.   Good luck.
Really ridiculous especially when...

typing into the hospital system because all they have to do is type in a few things and get this information.

That's ridiculous.

Is it ridiculous
to list a Brainbench certification for medical transcription on your resume?
Ridiculous
Sometimes I wonder how much nicer this industry would be without all the control fanatics.  I wish they could just be shipped out to some island to battle amongst themselves, play those control games that they enjoy so much, and leave us to complete the work in a rational time period without all these ridiculous rules.
Seems ridiculous
As much "fixing up" we do of what is actually dictated, I think it's pretty crappy if you get points off for simple punctuation.

Just think if we all left everything completely verbatum (especially those dictators who say coma every other word or say to put periods in the middle of a sentence)!
Yes, your overall statement is true but

what is so bothersome to so many MTs is that the complaints voiced by so many are about pretty much the same thing.  This in turn makes the complaints pretty much valid problems or "injustices" experienced by MTs on an industry-wide basis.  It is actually a good thing to have open communication so all may hear the pros and cons of a particular MTSO or of the entire nationwide industry of MT'ing...

I do wish that some MTs could be a little more calm and positive during their negative statements and that some MTs could be a little less offensive in their posts.  But again, open communication is one of the things that make a good democracy.  Have a beautiful day.  Mine started out terrible...got up at 1:15 AM to start transcribing so I could do some other things later in the day but of course the cable and comcast internest were down until just now, 2:50 AM.  Guess I'd better hit the keyboard.

stupid statement
That's a very stupid statement. You evidently don't work on the kinds of accounts I do. I send blanks that QA can't get, either. There are various things that affect a report and require blanks besides a dictator's accent.
how exactly is this statement not disrespectful?

you're just plain mean

I don't know anything, but I found statement
on IPAY, but no direct deposit in my bank ??
Agree with your statement 100%...sm
I'm sure the hurricane victims will be glad to know this. This would be the exact time to come together. I wondered why we would act this way (I know there's an embargo), and my husband said that it might be because we don't trust Fidel Castro (sabatoge).

I appreciate the posts giving updates about the hurricane disaster; I cannot watch the coverage on TV anymore. I broke down this morning when the dogs were dying, and you could hear a dog wailing in the background. It's too much for anyone to bear.

I'm anxiously waiting for Best Friends to let me know if I can be a foster parent for dogs that belong to evacuees.

Thanks again!
My last statement on this subject is the following...sm
As long as there are people who are willing to take cuts in pay, whether by way of bonus or otherwise, there will be pay cuts for the worker, no matter the profession.
I stand behind my statement and there has been

documentation to support it, but this is a free country and I certainly won't condemn anyone for being a member, I just never would and would never recommend it.

I don't advocate any curriculum - I detest Abeka, but the websites I have given are a good place to start for anyone who is just feeling things out.  They can ask any questions and get feedback from multiple people, explore various curriculums, buy new or used, find others in their community who homeschool, find support groups, etc.   Rainbow Resource has just about everything ever created as far as curriculum, including what is commonly called boxed curriculum like Abeka or BJU where you buy every subject and the TMs, but also allows you to pick and choose.  I personally write my own curriculum now, but I used various curriculums and various modalities of homeschooling over the years.  There are many different forms of homeschooling too, from a principal approach to the unschooling approach and many others in between.   No one curriculum or modality works for everyone and one of the many joys of homeschooling is having the freedom to use whatever works best for your family.

I am not a secular homeschooler, but there are those that are and I would want them to be able to get the support they need and not feel isolated because they don't share the same belief system that I do.

Recorded statement -- think about it before you do it
My attorney has always advised against doing a recorded statement.  Sometimes it is the way that the question is asked as to how the answer comes out.  Also, we all know that errors can happen in recorded statements and they are not given to you to verify and sign off on, and the tape is erased so what do you do if there is an error in it?   So I would not do it again, I did and it did not help my case.  Took a lot of attorney time and money to get everything cleared up and then rule in my favor.  If it is a black and white of a rear end, might not be a problem, but if there is any question at all, do not do it unless you type up what you want to say and a recorded "statement to them" and do not answer their questions.   Just my 2 cents worth
What I don't understand is your statement about (sm)
how his grandparents tried to raise him in the Assembly of God. It sounds as if that wasn't successful. He's just playing you for a fool, trying that "honeymoon" stuff and now wanting to convert you and your children. And you don't change your religion to save your marriage. He is the one who needs to make all of the changes.
90%? I think THAT is an inflated statement!
.
Let me revise that statement...it's still about 45, but it
can't make up it's mind now whether it wants to rain or snow. :-)
I give a statement with every.....sm

I work privately for a bunch of surgeons.  I submit a STATEMENT with every job I return but I don't want to be paid off those statements.  At the end of the month, I take all those statements and do a MONTHLY BILL that I DO want to get paid on.

Within 10 days, they give me the checks in the next pickup/envelope of work and I deposit only once a month.  Makes for a lot less paperwork and problems and I have been doing this for 10 years.

Best of luck to you!!!

re your calm down statement...sm

Awful presumptive of you to assume I was not calm...just due to a few extra question marks?  As an American, I think it's safe to say that plenty here would kill first and ask questions later......I'm not that way.

I happen to be very calm and very rational.....

My statement was not a judgment of anyone

Just simply an observation. As for the sad state of health care cost and coverage, I agree with you. As of right now, my husband, myself, and our baby have no insurance because he just changed jobs and we won't get it until April 1. So why is it cheaper for me to go to the ER with the sniffles just because I have no health insurance? I'm still going to get a bill from them!

Medicaid is a different story. And my post had nothing to do with the indigent or health insurance challenged. And again, no judgment stated or implied.

With a statement like that, hope it never

It is called being black-balled or pushed out because you know too much and do not put up with the crapola that goes on at the office.
