It just gets aggravating every now and then. For the most part I just smile and laugh in my head. If they only knew.
When I worked in house, during MT week, we decided to let people get a dose of what we do. Even the DOCTORS couldn't understand the dictation we had set up for everyone to try (NOT a difficult dictator by the way). We also got the head of medical records to try. He quit in no time. We gained a little bit of respect in the department and with the docs after that one!!!
My daughter accidentally broke my headset one day and I went out in the garage to vent to my husband. One of his friends was out there and he said "Hey, no big deal, I have about 20 headphones at my house I'll bring you one". My husband said "No, you don't understand, they aren't like regular headphones. You have to have REALLY GOOD ONES to understand those doctors"
My honey, he defends me. Glad your boyfriend got a clue, the hard way. LOL.
I think maybe next time I'll write down the MedQuist.Com web site and have these people go test. Of course they probably won't get past the application since they don't have the epxerience. But I would LOVE to hear what they would say if they got to the testing part. LOL!!!
