for HALF the price and their guidelines do not change every six months in them. You know, you people hate AAMT because of them selling the american MT out and condoning outsourcing to China, but then you turn around and buy into their money grabbing scam of their BOS book, which changes its mind every six months just to make you buy another book. How blind!!

This lack of good spelling, grammar, etc
got a coworker of mine under the gun, so to speak. She talked ebonics and sent emails to me the same so I am sure it spilled over in her work. Short story, QA started looking at every report she turned it. Very stressful for her and she eventually quit. She was a nervous wreck- I could undersand that but it will happen if your work is not up to par.

I don't know how good online...
would be for coding. I took coding at the community college level; instructor had his own company that did coding and I learned from one of the best in my area. The test is pretty difficult and long. I took it twice; missed the first time by one question and passed the second time with no problem. You have to keep your credentials up in order to keep your certification. I have not done any coding at all, just MT for the past 5-1/2 years, but am going to brush up on by coding skills just in case!
Why aren't the BOS editions readily available at the bookstore sites?

Good business book
Before I started many moons ago, I got some reading material regarding starting a business, went and saw an accountant for a consultation, called IRS and talked with them so I knew what I needed prior to doing this. Basically you need all recepits that pertain to your business that you use as a business write-off. Check with your city to see if you need a business license. But do some research and ask the "experts" as each one of is different and I don't want to give bad advice. So spend some money and time researching it.

Can anybody give me advice as to a good op note book to buy. I am starting a new job and have never done op notes and would like any advice anyone can give me before I buy the wrong thing. Thank you:)

Having done operative notes for over 15 years, I have found THE SURGICAL WORD BOOK by Claudia Tessier to be the best resource available. Make sure it is the third edition which just came out last year and is their newest version. It will help you tremendously.
Looking for a really good Neuromuscular book
Looking for something that has muscular dystrophy, ALS, tests, antibodies all sorts of stuff. I am currently typing for a neuromuscular clinic that deals with all sorts of things. Would like a good book for references so I don't have to keep skipping screens to Google all the time. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I do find it very helfpul. A lot of the entries can also be found by using Help in Word though.
Tessier is not a very good reference book. I have one but
haven't used it in years. I would suggest getting a Stedman's. I believe they just had a new one come out either this year or last year. There is new equipment all the time, so an updated book would save you lots of time from searching on-line.

This one is very good, but you would want to call and ask for XP or just buy the OEM XP and put that when you get it. This is a really good price for what you get in the system. The gaming computers will offer some of the highest performance. If you can or know someone who can put one together you can get even better for even cheaper.

...and you don't have to sign up for a makeup "club," or anything. I totally agree with you that this makeup is great for all the basic purposes (coverage, lasting), but their slogan is "Makeup so healthy you can sleep in it." There is a delay in time between when you can apply your powder after moisturizer, but it is really worth it.
To go with your powder I recommend the "pump brush" offered at some of the cosmetic online stores. You fill the handle with your powder mixture (I mix two different powders, changing it up or down according to how much sun I've been getting) and the pump brush will distribute some to the bristles, tap and have at it! This is great for carrying it with you to minimize the loss into the lining of your handbag!
I cannot recommend Bare Minerals enough. I used to be a MAC convert, and have tried everything from Chanel to Maybelline--this product does not disappoint.
I had a good friend who did it and I found out... and
when I found out it was when I was promoted to the transcription regional manager for the branch. It was up to me to do random QA and invoicing to make sure everything was okay. It was really, really sad because my very best friend there who started with me at the same time, on the same great account (we both did well, and this was back in the late 80s early 90s). So, about 6 years later, when I decided to go into QA and then management I did a random on my friend. This was absolutely just by chance. Well, I found out she was padding her lines about 12000 lines per pay period!!!!!!!I cannot tell you how shocked I was. These were the days we went according to bites and divided, etc. We were even allowed to use codes and that was okay too for the extra lines, like bolding, remember. Well even so, she was adding about 6K lines a week and no wonder she was making so much money. She used to laugh when we were friends because she'd put the book on the dictaphone pedal while she ran errands.
My heart broke that day. I asked her to please don't do it anymore. Well, unfortunately she did not listen to me and she got in big trouble. She was not fired, but I do not know what happened because between that and a wage cut some VP did on my MTs, I quit management. BTW: The padding in the case then was because it was an honor system. The MT was to look at the bytes and divide and type on a sheet and send the totals in, much like recent times for some companies. Only these days the software calculates it and usually it is the MTSO that can cheat by cutting line counts in deceptive ways. Oh, my, please this is a long enough note and don't get me started. I may have to hit the New Year's bottle and I don't want to do that because I go to work at 3 AM. LOL . HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE. See you NEXT YEAR heh heh.
I am a good MT. However, I haven't found what I need from a company yet.
I agree that not every MT or company will be a good fit for each other. I just didn't realize that what I was asking for from an employer would be nearly impossible to find. It's not that I'm not willing to give a little either; it seems like the majority of companies that I have come across want you chained to your desk 24/7 with a ring through your nose to tug on. They won't pay downtime but they expect you to check back into the system every 15 minutes without pay. Some people do this without complaining because they feel lucky to have a job working at home. I'm sorry, but I'm not a doormat. We already pay the overhead and equipment costs for the companies. Our benefits and line rates get cut back more and more. The quality of dictation gets worse and worse because of VR and offshoring. I'm a good MT, and I deserve to be treated like one. If standing up for myself means I have a bad attitude, oh well, at least I can sleep at night for not letting anybody walk all over me.

I, too, was married to a controlling (though he didn't get far with me in that regard because I cannot be *controlled* and since I'm a teenager) french frog whom I divorced 15+ years ago for my SANITY. My sanity became an issue and I became my own Hero........and have been V_E_R_Y happy DAILY without him. *L*

Just make a note in your book and go on. Every book I read you can find an error
or 2. Nobody is perfect. Lucky you only paid $60. New it is $80 or more.

Oh, I found it really creepy when you said you found the flowers not so skillfully arranged on your
steps, and from your own flower bed. That's what I was worried about, having gone thru some psycho kids myself with my pups. Someone's been in your yard and in your garden and at your door without your knowledge. Its just creepy to me, and I'd still be very, very careful. Especially valid sounded the other MTs warning you about potential fake molestation charges. You just NEVER know nowadays, and these people have already turned on you big time once. Luckily (though I don't believe in luck), you had it on film to save yourself and your puppy. You might not be that lucky next time, and the whole thing just sounds very unstable to me right now. I know you feel sorry for the little girl, but probably the only time I have ever made BAD decisions regarding my life is when I felt sorry for someone, particularly kids. My son even has an evil kid in his life, but one who has a million reasons for sympathy, and I was saying how we should "be bigger" than the situation and invite this kid over to play. Thankfully, I regained my sanity long enough to remember - ever time I have done something like that on a personal basis for someone just because I feel sorry for them AFTER horrible behavior, it has always been a disaster... Be kind, but you don't have to risk your family again. Be kind from a distance. Its sorry she went thru this horrible experience, but YOU didn't cause it, and its not really your problem. But it could be your problem if this kid acts out in your life. Know what I mean?

Some of the stuff I saw from subcontractors during testing made my jaw drop to the level of my fanny in utter disbelief! We are talking about the use of grammar equivalent to what a sixth grader knows. It is unbelievable - that and things they don't even take the time to research.
