This is a new one on me too, but here is something you might try - not sure if it will work, but...

Under tools/options in the spelling tab, go to custom dictionaries and uncheck/deactivate your current "full" dictionary. Then go back to your document and add your new word. I'm thinking this "might" create a whole new dictionary, but not sure.

Then go back under the spelling tab and check/activate your "full" dictionary along with the new one you will hopefully find there.

After that, make sure that your settings do not say "suggest from MAIN dictionary only" and maybe that will do the trick.

Just a guess - hope it helps!
