Mine are in year-round thank goodness! They've started their new year 2 months ago.
x
Mine don't go back until Sept. 7 - VA - get out usually 2nd week in June - nm
xx
Oh my goodness! I do mine the sm
same way! I had never thought about the Gregg ShortHand thing, but I took it for two years and loved it. So I guess that is why I do my expansions like I do! Thanks for shining the light!!!!!!!!!!

Its good being an antique!!!!! Remember, a good antique is usually worth quite a bit of money!!!!!!!!1
Just started using it a week ago and LOVE IT sm
It was really easy to learn, have access to old reports for help, no screen switching, fast, so far no problems.  I came from a program that was very complicated and time consuming, so this is like night and day for me.  Go for it.
It probably started because you left him for a week. sm

My dog did that when my kids would go visit their aunt for a week. At that time I was working 8 to 5 out of the home and hubby was no help at all.

The dog was crate trained as a puppy and picked up and brought outside every morning to do his duty. It took about 2 weeks to outdoor train him. Dogs will not go inside of their crate.

It took a few days to readjust him, and we had to bring his crate back from the garage. Now that I'm home all day, he dares not leg lift inside and the crate has been back  in the garage for years.

I have heard that the piddle pads are a very bad idea if you use them post puppy. That may also be a factor as your dog always thought that "in the house" was okay.

I wouldn't even buy a dog until we had our back yard fenced in and put in a doggy door so that he could do his business outside.

And he is 4 years old, not "fixed," never will be,  and doesn't ever piddle in the house.

Time to teach your pup about the great outdoor bathroom. Never too late and it's not too much trouble to pooper scoop, especially with a small dog.

I just started with a new company this week, so I will let you know how it goes. SM
I am still working for Spheris just in case, but if this new one doesnt work out I will look elsewhere. Kind of fed up.
I am in the same place you are - I started school last week... nm
x
I started this when mine were 2 and 4 - sm
I only would work basically when they were napping or at night after they went to bed. I don't think a 16-month-old will understand, sorry, cannot play now, have to work. You might be able to get her to play with something now and then and squeeze in a report here and there, but I would not count on it. You may be able to put on Sesame Street or Blues Clues and get 30 minutes that way, but don't use the TV as a babysitter and park her in front of it all day so you can work. I limited mine to about 1 hour during the day, and maybe a Disney movie at night; that is still what we hold it too though the movie choices have changed some they still watch a lot of Disney, now Barbie, Kim Possible, Bratz, etc. as they are 7 and 9. Have fun, and if you are smart stick to a PT job, or else you will be very, very tired.
Mine is great. I just started though and
she has been very nice--on the phone, responding to emails, providing me with copies, etc.
Mine's getting worse since I started this, for sure. nm
s
mine sucked when I first started with them
They were so bad I actually thought it might be a joke. but I stuck it out, made very little money for a long time.

I've doing the same crappy dictators now and average 350 lph with them. They say the same thing over and over. After a while your ears can hear what they say and you can pick up your speed.

Most MTs flit from job to job so fast they never get used to the dictators.

got to stick it out to make the $

Mine started doing this as well. I have high BP which I'm being treated for (sm)
but the doctor told me it is the position of where the back of my thigh rests against the edge of the chair, puts pressure on it and makes the leg swell. Now that I'm more aware of this I try to position myself differently and it seems to work.
I just started back....
Working on my Associate Degree generals while on the wait list for nursing program (Fall 2008). All of my generals are online. After that, half nursing courses online, other half are clinicals, 2 days a week.

My kids are 17 and 10. Online is the only way I could be doing it.
I think it all got started back in the 60s...
when they started with Head Start.  People have forgotten that Head Start was created specifically to target children who were from poverty who were not being properly spoken to, read to, or stimulated.  So yes, going to a preschool for stimulation WAS a way to combat the vast disadvantage that children from those kinds of backgrounds suffer, however, if your child is paid attention to, given stimulating things to do and play with, read to, and spoken to and taught in a fun "going about the day" sort of way, they will be fine.  Now this has all morphed into pushing academics on a child barely out of diapers in some attempt to make children even smarter and more precocious academically, which is obviously not working.  Many European countries (countries that far out perform us) don't even start formal schooling until age 6 or 7.  I was a stay-at-home mom and my 6th grader never went to preschool and is now an honor roll student.  There's really no relation whatsoever.
I'm right back where I started!
I tried to put an antivirus on here last night and it said McAfee was still on here and I had to get it off first. McAfee is listed in my add/remove programs, but when I try to remove, it freezes my computer up. I went to security under my start menu, and it says there is no firewall there. Sooo, I spent all night trying to straighten this out and get that off, with no success, and I still do not have an antivirus running.
I got home from a family fun day today, and my computer was still running like molasses in January, so I did a Ctrl/Alt/Delete to see what was going on, and it showed 37 Task Managers running (YES, 37) plus all kinds of other stuff (don't ask me how or why!) and nothing would open, close, or do anything. I tried the hard shut down at the box, and even that took about 10 minutes.
I finally got the computer turned back on and ran my Windows Defender, Windows Live OneCare, and PC Tools Registry Mechanic, but they didn't find anything too serious, but at least things are moving again. I'm still trying to figure out my next step, but now I'm scared out of my mind, wondering what's going on inside this little machine and wondering if it has been compromised. As I said, right back where I started from and trying to figure out my next step.
Needless to say, I did not get any of my work done this weekend. Ooops :( BTW -- thanks for asking and wish me luck.
and I thought I was bad. I usually wear mine for a week and then change into something else.
ss
I think we are-think back to MT Week and..sm

chocolate that someone won and offered to share it with you...I think it was you.....*S*  Pembroke Pines you said....*winks* -

Meanwhile my blood sugar has escalated, dontcha know??  Since that.....chocolate arrived here....*lol*.....but not really laughing (high blood sugar NOT good around this house)......

Look back I believe it was last week
There are two separate thread about the virus threats that have come through the site. The moderator has been working on this. It's not a virus. Truthfully, I forgot what they said it actually was, but supposedly it was nothing to worry about. I'd check the previous posts to get all the information. Or I'm sure the moderate will be on to address the issue.
No they don't. Pyramid schemes started back in the
A few unscrupulous people at the top of the pyramids got rich fast, at the expense of all those under them who lost their shirts.
Try to get you old job back, I'd kill for $500 a week after taxes- nm
x
Just received mine Saturday. More or less the same thing we were emailed last week. Kind of repeated
that. Just curious about benefits for SE. Never heard of that. The letter might have been a little more explicit about things but still nothing on what the pay plan is.
I went back at 5 wks. I was ready to turn cartwheels after a week.
x
OMGosh. You too??!! I'm hoping to get back into transcription here in the next week or so (sm)

and I am dreading it big-time.... I know when I had to retype a report while QA I was not only S L O W - but WOW (!!) what a humbling experience..... Much easier to verify what is in front of you than to dream it up yourself!!

I do have assigned accounts and even those I can't get back within 24-48 hours at end of week. s
I think I need to have on-call coverage to help, but I don't have much time to train...I sometimes just think it takes less time to do it myself than to train someone new, but I'm just tired of working all the time. If I could find people who have so much experience that they can just be able to work and get it right by having a sample report and a template...hard to believe, but not everyone can do that....Also need a c-phone to access work on my system.
Mine also says $89 on the back, but...
I got it brand new for around $30 on www.half.com, which is part of eBay.  I get a lot of books and DVDs there.
Hand pain - needing to cut back lines per week. Anyone else done this?
I have so much hand and wrist pain from all this typing.  I only do 5000-6000 lines per week and that is torture.  By the end of the week I have slowed down so badly it is ridiculous.  I think I am going to have to cut way back before I trash my hands and wrists for good.  Has anyone else had this problem and cut back on MT work?  I'm trying to think of other jobs I could do for a few hours a day to make up the difference ($$)that don't involve typing.
Mine too and 3/4 of the time I have to look at his back
while he puts everying in the computer. It's impersonal, it's rude, and it's the way of the future.
Seems like usual holiday slow-down period. Should pick back up this week or next. nm

I figure if a week has gone by, forget it. But 1 recruiter did take 10 days recently to get back
s
meant to say mine went back yesterday, too. nm
x
I just pulled mine back out of storage - LOVE THEM!! nm
.
Mine held back two weeks and pays
every two weeks, so we submit invoices on the 1st, and the previous two weeks check is mailed on the 1st. Two week pay periods. I agree with the others....I would never agree to wait until the MTSO got paid to get MY pay.
Mine was from my high school test, back in the dark ages.

Is there engineer week? Astronaut week? Veterinarian week?
x
Typically this week is a slow week in lots of places

because it is a big vacation week.  Typically things slow dow a bit in the summer too because people are putting off elective surgery, but at the same time lots of people going on vacation so it should balance out.

Lowest runs $900 week, highest $1400 week (sm)
Get paid 12 CPL. Been doing transcription for about 12 years.
I work 6 days a week every other week

Due to my company's payroll (it runs Sun-Sat), I'm able to work a rotating schedule with every other weekend off. Week 1 I work Sunday through Thursday with Fri, Sat, Sun off.  Week 2 I work Monday through Friday with Saturday only off.  Then I'm back to week 1 and get that following weekend off.

I've found that I'm more productive with shorter shifts and I have kids in school anyway, so I work a lot of split shifts during the week.  If possible, you might want to consider cutting back your hours to 30 hours and just work five 6-hour days in split shifts, 3 in the morning and 3 in the evening.

Funny! Mine is almost as large, and I don't mind cleaning mine!
It's no problem at all.  Besides, I'll take lots of oodles of square footage any day of the week over living in a sardine can!
Oh my goodness!! sm
You don't know what you're asking for!  Take it easy?  Your aching fingers may not ache so much but I can promise you will trade aching fingers for a seriously aching HEAD.  A GOOD supervisor will work twice as hard and twice as long as she/he will ever ask of anyone working under her/him.  If you're looking for easy street please do yourself a favor and forget looking for a supervisory position.  (Unless of course you have the wherewithall to buy out Frank) maybe then you could vacation in the Bahamas and just count your cash.
My Goodness!

You are so funny.  It's good to have a laugh at these morons' expense.

Oh my goodness sm

Yes, they're always still young 'uns, my youngest is 36 but still my baby and I'm the only one in the world allowed to call him "Billy." LOL Your post just so reminded me of my kids, I guess.  2 boys and 2 girls.  I've started Christmas baking and I guess I'm missing the 8 little hands "helping me."  Doing it now in perfectly orderly fashion with no flour all over the kitchen.  The big ones and the little grandkids are far away so I wouldn't mind a little noise, but believe me, I know how aggravating it can be with the crappy dictators.  I've been having some of those myself (it's a full moon ya know).  On the good side, I can swear at my computer screen as loud as I want and today that has been PRETTY loud.  Hope tomorrow will be better for you.

My goodness...
Now I want a housekeeper! LOL

Wonder if I'll ever be able to trust one again? I guess we have to take chances, right? LOL
Well thank goodness for that!
Nobody in the MT world deserves that much money. It's absolultely disgusting if executives can make that much at any company, considering it's the little people who do all the REAL work. The only executives deserving of that kind of salary are the ones who are out of the country half the year on business or actually doing something to better the company in a huge way. That is what is wrong with this country, they pay way too many useless people way too much money.
Thank goodness!
I almost thought that votefortheworst.com website was working!
Well, goodness.
I'm not sure what I'm supposed to get over. You're the one using the bold font, all caps, underlining, and 'way more exclamation points than anyone really needs. That looks like someone on the edge of hysteria to me.

Oh, and the wagging finger image was a nice touch. It added just that little hint of looniness that might otherwise have been missing.

Thanks for the laugh. This thread has been a hoot.

I work with a couple of people like you who prefer to work themselves into a state of towering rage and indignation rather than simply take the one simple step that would solve their problem. They're funny, too. They provide the rest of us with an never-ending source of entertainment.

Looking forward to further posts from you. One can always use a good laugh.
Oh goodness!
I tell you, the day I have my belly button pierced will be the day I get my nose pierced, with a big thick gold ring through my nostrils like those women in the Indian tribes in Africa have!  hehehehehe!  And at the same time I do that, I'm just going to go completely for broke and have them pull my bottom lip down below my chin and stick a gold ring in that, too!
Oh my goodness
Honestly I don't think they did all they could do as the spokesman says. Because if these 2 girls had an "uncanny resemblance" then the officials would have known that from pictures/ID of the girls....and then someone should have said "Hey, they look A LOT alike, maybe we should confirm the identities".  Sounds like the truckdriver may not have been the only one "asleep at the wheel".  Very, VERY sad.  But happy for the other family.  I can't even imagine. Thanks for sharing the article.
Wow! 15 to 20? Oh my goodness! nm
d
Thank Goodness No
I think I have a a well balanced life with working at home. I do activities with my two daughters when they're home from school (one is in pre-school two full days a week). My husband and I go out withotu the children as well as take them on various activities. I also have a best friend that lives across the street and we usually go do things with them alone or with their children and our children most weekends, especially in the summer. My neighborhood is filled with children and in the summertime all the neighbors are out socializing. I used to call our neighborhood party central. LOL.
Oh my goodness, I have one
just like that. She is a case manager of pysch, and tehy are always at least 20-minute dictations filled with ummm, ummm, ummm, no change that, no sorry, ummm, ummm! Drives me crazy!
My goodness
I've had that procedure done.  I do not think it would be very pleasant without anesthesia.
