Word hasn't capped after a colon since the 2000 version.
You have to manually cap with shift key or run a macro at the end of the report. You can also hit shift+f3 to change the case to upper.
I forgot about state tax (TN doesn't have one)

Check out this link:   www.taxadmin.org.fta/rate/ind_inc. html

From what I've read in the past, by accountants, put aside 30% of your gross earnings. That should cover everything.

TN doesn't have State self-employment tax?
I'm moving!! :)
And the current state of MT affairs doesn't do that ALREADY?
.
Sorry, but your schedule doesn't justify making up your own rules. Use the word board for word q
nm
If it comes with WordPerfect, it doesn't come with MS Word.
Unless you pay extra and special order it. One or the other, not both.
Diet doesn't have to be a four letter word.
You can jazz up everything you mentioned.  Put a dash of cinnamon or nutmeg into your applesauce, put some spices on the hamburger like garlic, onion powder, or Emeril Zest, and even a dash of Tabasco or some other spices in your tomato juice.  I like to throw a piece of celery, a colossal green olive, and a few pepperoncini into mine.  Some people aren't into hot and spicy, but spices are zero to low calories.  Hot and spicy is very good for you with vitamins, antioxidants, etc.  Studies have proven that people who eat hot peppers with their meals consume 150 fewer calories per meal.  Eating naturally (AKA dieting) doesn't have to be bland.
The Word board doesn't have much traffic for
many reasons.  Some of us are tired after working our own shifts and don't want to feed answers to people who are equally as capable of looking them up as we are.  I use entirely Internet based references.  If I have that free access to references, so does everyone else on these boards.  From my own experience, it's easier and faster to look my questions up myself.  In addition, I learn more from doing my own research.  If I can't find it, I flag it and send it to QA.  That's their job, not the job of those of us here.  Word board answers aren't always accurate either.  Finally, people are ungrateful if nobody answers their questions quickly enough.  That's why I stopped going there.  Grumpy little untrained newbies giving tongue lashings because we didn't do their work for them quickly enough.  Half of them can't say thanks either.  It's sink or swim out there.  People have to figure out how to do for themselves.
It's a stand alone program and doesn't pull up within Word itself. nm

I meant should be capped.

3 whole words were capped.
My child will never be healthy. Ever.

Unless I win the lottery or marry some rich person, we will always live paycheck to paycheck with maybe a few weeks of cushion. I tried going back to school and the kids could not handle it. I tried working outside the home again and things went to heck around here. Maybe when they are older but for now this is our life. I should be able to depend on my employer to pay me on time and correctly. It really isn't that much to ask.
Doesn't every word you said just translate into you're worried about bidding? Don't underst
phrasing in that regard.  I don't look at worrying about bidding as a bad thing, either.  Its the only way to buy on E-Bay - cautiously.  One should always worry about bidding, as you have no clue who you're buying from!  Most sellers will always respond angrily to a negative - only ones who don't answer at all are the guilty ones! But if you're unjustly accused of this or that, and then the buyer has the audacity to leave a contrived negative, that's when the seller responds and feathers fly!  Negative reading is a great experience - you can really learn a lot about all parties, right? I don't deal with the ones who leave cursing, I'm gonna kill you negatives! Though, sadly most of them have been deleted by now, so we don't get to see the "true colors"...Censorship sometimes hurts...
Misha, LOL...

you go girl, and trim trees if you really want to!

I have a long way to go before I feel financially secure with all this, but I have certainly been a happy soul to peel back the curtains, look out, and know that I am doing what I love doing each day!

Misha, I
totally agree with you on this one!
Misha...sm
Please think twice about working for this company.

At $18 per audio hour, if it takes you four hours to type one hour of audio...you will only make $4.50 an hour.

There are better companies out there that pay more for general transcription. They're hard to find, but they are out there.

Let us know what you decide.
Is this the same Misha who used to
post here a year or so ago and went into working outside the home for a nursery (plants) or something? If so, I thought that you were an experienced MT, with several years under your belt, but maybe I'm not remembering correctly. The other posters are absolutely correct. Even if the dictation you receive is so easy that you are able to complete one dictated hour in two real time work hours, that's only 9.00/hr. Hardly worth it, if you ask me.
Spironolactone - look up and see if it's capped, I don't remember nm

I didn't say it shouldn't be capped.
My post says ibuprofen should not be capped unless at the beginning of the sentence. Maybe you should read that more clearly.
Cumbersome is a good word here to describe Meditech. The designer obviously doesn't type.

You funny Misha. nm

Thanks, misha! My DH thinks that

it would help clear up DS's skin if he sat in the sun some every day, or even used a tanning bed as someone below said, although I'd be worried for him to do that because he has light skin, light blue eyes and blond hair - it was so light it was that white-blond when he was a baby/toddler.  So obviously he has very fair skin and features so I worry about the risk of skin cancer.

But your link sounds like something different and I will check that out.  Thanks for taking the time to research for me!

Misha, that was the show!

Wasn't it a blast to watch?!  I wish they would do a followup or something.  I'm surprised all those families saw it through.  I almost died when the women were explained that they couldn't use traditional supplies for their periods, rather just "wear a rag."  Now I know where that term comes from of "being on the rag!"

I saw the post that dinged Misha the other day
asking her if she worked because on this board so often. Hello, guess what? So am I and I just finished my first hour for the day WITH posting and it was 533 lines. I thought some nerve with that person. I work and can post between and probably others can do the same.
Yep - nearly always start their para's w/ capped heading of procedure to be described.

Misha..sounds like a wonderful vacation! sm
I could almost hear the waves crashing and seagulls singing from your very eloquent post! Been to the beaches of NC many times and they are the best! I am from the NE and I do not understand this *fixation* on LBI or the other Jersey shore beaches. Obviously they have never been to NC! There is truly no comparison. Time to make reservations for next summer! ; )
Misha...you just made me vomit in my mouth!

That was GROSS!

Misha, you're almost working for free--
--doing this. There are many general transcription companies that pay real money. I know, because I work for a couple. General transcription is a real industry with real people supporting families with their income. Whoever is paying this low a wage is LAUGHING at your gullibility.
Work for a company in a state that has no state income tax
I think there are 3 or 4 out there (Florida, Texas, and a few others.)  Then you really avoid the tax situation.
Name a state and put every company in that state under suspicion.

Tell what the first letter of the company is and every company with that initial will be suspect.  I would imagine that everyone who works for that company has received an inquiry from department of labor, so they would all be aware of it.

Why do we persist in setting up companies to be torn down when there is no reason for it.  If a company is suspect, then give the name of the company, don't give big hints that cover at least 5 companies, 4 of which may be the best companies to work for, but fall into the category of an alphabetical letter, etc.

Not mandatory, as you state it depends on your state - sm
or county. Where I am I do not need it; though if I was cutting grass or landscaping I would where I live, makes no sense to me as I am providing a service, but very happy I don't have to have one. We pay personal property tax here and I would have to list all my business related equipment and pay taxes on it every year I was in business. So until I am told otherwise by my county, I will not be getting a business license.

Things are different from state to state, but I think
you probably could, if you are actually "laid off."  You would have to get a letter from your surgeon regarding your temporary disability status and take to the unemployment office and to Medicaid....but you know how Medicaid works, 1.5 pennies over the income limit, you don't get it.  But, as I stated, laws differ from state to state, so you would have to inquire or go on their websites and see what they will approve and what they will not.
If not in your state, try filing in THEIR state. Then they

Info/help on open Word 2007 docx with Word 2003.

I have a friend who sent me a document with .docx extension, presumably Word 2007. I can open it in Word 2003; however, all I see are musical notes and highlighting, no text (this is a document with words and highlighting only, no pictures, music notes, etc.). I tried to open this with Notepad and only see the usual gibberish.

I know I opened another 2007 Word doc before and I remember seeing the converter load at that time but that was probably a year ago. Is there something that has changed that I'm not aware of?

Darn Microsoft.

Is any one running ExText with Word 2000 and EditScript with Word 2003 sm

I am interested to know if anyone is running two platforms with a different version of Word on one computer.

I am running eScription's ES with Word 2003 and want to run ExText but their version of Word is 2000.  Has anyone done this or doing it now.  If so, have you run into any problems.

I can't seem to get a straightforward answer from the Techs at either company.    I can't just load ExText and jeopardize it interfering with eScription.

I am interested to hear any and all comments.  Thank you so much in advance for any help!

it is attached to your version of Word. Open Word and it'll be on your tool bar. NM

I type the letter "l" in IT and the word cholelithiasis is my word selected? Why?
I want to get rid of this. Entered left again but it is still giving me cholelithiasis as the only word option to select from.

This is why I find this program crazy. Everytime I sit down for the day, there is a whole new experience with it!!! I have to stop and think before each word!!!
How do you make fields in Word Perfect like in Word? I'm drowning out here
in new keyboard commands, macros, etc.  Thanks.
In the future, please post word questions on the Word board.

Word AutoText, AutoCorrect, and Spellchecker, and other Word features
I have just started working for a company that uses Word (my previous experience was HTML-based and had its own autotext and spellchecker).

I have never bought medical spellcheckers nor Instant Text, especially that I have learned a lot from posters here that one could use the autocorrect feature for long words/phrases/paragraphs/templates. I have heard of people saying autocorrect was not meant to be used for such.

I have been browsing some features of shortcuts in Word (using the Assistant), and have discovered that it has AutoText. I tried it by highlighting a whole document (canned procedured), then hit Alt+F3, assigned a code, and voila! I have a template that readily inserts into an open Word document by typing the code and hitting Enter.

Also, I have learned that I can insert empty fields (for variables in my templates like BP/HR/RR/Temp values by hitting Ctrl+F9, then when I have inserted the autotext for a template with such empty fields, I can readily jump from one field to the next (to fill them up with values) by hitting F11 (or Shift+F11 to go to previous empty field).

We do know that many dictators want us to type verbatim even for running sentences, so that I have found the Spelling and Grammar checker feature of Word quite cumbersome. I discovered tonight that I could use just the spellchecker feature by clicking on Tools > Customize, then under Categories, select Tools; under Commands, select Spelling. I dragged that onto my tool bars so I can do a quick spellcheck. Cool thing was, the previous documents I have made with new drug names, etc., which I have spellchecked using a non-Word program, were automatically included in its database (so I do not have to re-enter them as I begin to utilize this feature). Drawback: I could not make a shortcut key for this (have to use the mouse again!)

Then I made my OWN keyboard shortcut for autocorrect by going to Tools>Customize>Keyboard (click on button then another window appears), Under Categories, choose Tools; under Commands, choose AutoCorrect. Under Press new shortcut key, assign the shortcut you want (F key, Alt or Ctrl + desired key), then click on Assign button.

Well, that is all I can share for now. I have learned a lot from posters here, and I hope I have added some info, especially for Word users like me who can be categorized as average.javascript:editor_insertHTML('text','');
