there's more info on how MTs feel about their companies than recipes/fav songs.

Besides I wouldn't come to this board to learn what some cranky MTs favorite song is. I'm here to dish the dirt about the companies who control the MTs.

No way! Don't do it and don't feel bad. in my opinion, those who are asking for your info sm
aren't experienced enough, confident enough, or dedictated enough to be able to obtain good accts and keep them. if they were, they wouldn't need your help. i simply went to Google and did a search and got some "ideas" and then put everything into my own words, my own format, my own logo, etc. it isn't that hard for someone who cares about obtaining and marketing their business rather than asking for freebies. you would think they would want their own "unique". don't feel bad at all. you spent your time and educated yourself and did it. if they want to bad enough, they can to.
Thanks for the info. Makes me feel better.... sm

I have been doing a lot of reading and I really hoped it would do well with just voice files.  Thanks for sharing.  I am looking forward to the reducing the noise factor as well.  Can't wait to get mine! Will get it possibly by Monday.

RESPONSIBLE? FEEL SORRY FOR THESE COMPANIES?

Well, aren't you just grand! Wow! You have three whole years in at your company! Boy!  I have about 20 at mine - does that make me grander than you? Or at least MORE responsible?? Or fabulous? Your post makes no sense - why am I answering?  Who knows!  If conditions are deplorable at a new job, shall MTs stay to cover the cost of our training? Feel sorry for the poor company?  That's what you are saying, and I think you are TOTALLY WRONG. I think most MTs would agree with me. An IC can't try out a job with a doctors' office to see if its a "fit"??? She'll be IRRESPONSIBLE?  Talk about sounding like you're management.  Is this Lee??? Since you are now calling me on my character, I can assure you that the company I was trained for totally misrepresented the job to me on hiring me.  Had I known the truth, I would NEVER have accepted their offer.  You are calling me irresponsible - I assure you, I am the complete opposite, though shall I debate it with you?  I'm so responsible, I'm boring. But I am also learning to stand up for myself, INTERVIEW THESE COMPANIES BACK, asking everything from A-to-Z upfront (which still doesn't help), and NOT stick with a creepy new job more than a few months because it cost THEM $$ to hire/train me.  What about the MTs??? So many of us lose big $$ by trying a new job.  Read the posts on here daily - companies that promise to pay training pay, and then don't. Or they word it ever so cautiously, so you THINK you're gonna get paid X amount, but you don't.  Or the companies like a large national who FAIL to mention that you might not get your computer set up (provided by them) and actually running for a week or two, waiting for techies to get their act together, while the poor MT sits there INCOMELESS.  Or the companies who fail to mention that for the first solid 2 weeks of employ, you will be on 100% QA hold with a maximum of 5 jobs per day. Nothing based on quality or experience - no exceptions - just "the rules".  Wow! I can really feed my kids on that $$!  Or the account they promise will be like 50% ESLs and a "great one" turns out to be the squat account from you-no-where that NOBODY will type.  Or they hire you at 9 cpl, with bennies at certain production, and you find later that NO ONE EVER meets the line counts, thus, no bennies!  Which is why you took the job!!  And, by the way, did you NOT read the fine print that says your cpl rate plummets if you DON'T hit 2000 lines per day? Gee, didn't the recruiter mention that??? Please. I could go on and on, and we're supposed to be RESPONSIBLE and worry about the company's costs?? Give me a break!  Spend the months and months on end literally that I have interviewing, testing, and being hired by several of these companies NOW and then you'll more than understand why my attitude is not sympathetic to those who hire us. I've been told I'm the best thing since apple pie, a shining example of what an MT should be, and offered 6 cpl!! Ha!  Unreal. I am responsible, and would like the same from these potential employers. I also would expect a modicum of respect from my fellow MTs, even those with "fabulous" jobs.  I can assure you - fabulous jobs can disappear literally OVERNIGHT.  Happened to me and about 10,000 other MTs, or rather 9,9999.  Thanks for the support. If you ever hit the job market, save me email and write me.  I can save you the time and effort by steering you clear of at least a dozen companies.

Yes, companies do read here. It's a wealth of info
Especially when some use the same name at all message boards or even in their email address. Certainly helps to weed out the resumes.
Need info or true ULD companies. I've
not paid attention to past posts because I never thought I'd need it.  Have chance for a position, but need ULD  - like now.   I'm on the east coast.  I have DSL and my ISP is Earthlink.  They have something called truvoice where it looks like I can get true ULD, but because I have DSL I still have to maintain my land line.   Not sure if I could use DSL, phone, and tru voice all at the same time.
Search on the Companies or New Student board for course info. Jobs are available all over the US and

You know, she could have picked better songs

Sure they were done by Elvis, but she could have picked better songs, and she could have done better with the ones she picked.  People complain that the guys should have done a Bette Midler week, but I could just see Elliott doing Wind Beneath My Wings, or Taylor doing The Rose...they would just have to pick songs that best suited them from that artist and then just do a great job. She should have tried Love Me Tender.

All ForuMatrix forums are owned by the same company. The songs that were
posted on the Holiday/Recipe forum were posted erroneously and have been removed.
You can tell I'm not an expert but what is INXS? I mean the songs the bottom three sing are INSX

I have never heard of them and they sound kinda metal to me.  What category does INXS fall into?     I said I know very little about the music that these people are singing for the most part.  Is Nirvana metal?

Thanks.

Good luck to your daughter!!! The songs sound great!

Yes, he was peaceful because he was so whacked out on drugs. He was a drug addict who wrote songs.
Pure and simple - no big thang...
b, there are a lot of recipes on the
Holiday/Recipe board on ForuMatrix or at hometalkcafe.com, both of which are owned by MTStars.
Thanks to all for recipes.
I will try them all.

recipes inside.

Here's a link to a focaccia bread recipe.  I've never tried it, because I bought this from a bread store this morning.  The loaf I bought has onion, spinach, garlic, sundried tomato, parmesan cheese, and herbs on top.

Jerk seasoning can be used on most meats.  You can buy sauces or make your own rub.  Look for either Caribbean or Jamaican jerk.  KC Masterpiece makes a good spiced Caribbean jerk marinade.  It's got molasses, soy sauce, onion, garlic, spices, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, red pepper, hot pepper, and pineapple puree.

Easter recipes sm
It is very difficult for me because my children married different faiths and it used to be that we (before they married) would go to church and then to a restaurant (our favorite) as a special treat for family style soup, salad and main course. Of course, the "new" family had to kill this plan since the other side did not like our Church. Too bad. I started to cook brunch after service which included: Coffee or tea, lots of different juices, bacon, ham (spiral), fried potatoes (home fries), waffles (finally woke up to buying prepared and frozen), lots of syrup, butter, fresh strawberries and blueberries, some favorites of the grandchildren (one liked cantaloupe, another's favorite was my homemade sugar cookies, another liked my peanut butter cookies). I cook for days but it's worth it. Know how I got rewarded? The "other" moms got so jealous, they started to offer "brunch" instead of the traditional dinner (ham and all the trimmings, sit-down style).. I was frustrated at this, but I still try. Why don't people realize that "life is temporary" - whatever works for you. Since someone "stole" my brunch idea, I offer nice foods still, at whatever time their schedule (allows) them to show up; not necessarily breakfast, but some rented "childrens movies" with no pressure. As long as we build it, they will come. However, my brunch was sooooo popular, I'm glad someone "stole" it from me. It's kind of like having MT account "stolen" from you, it's not the same quality, but you have to realize that copying you is a true compliment and you should enjoy it. BTW (by the way) I have a bit of Polish in me, so I thoroughly enjoyed the kielbasa aspect of Easter, I slice it up and cook it first in a little water to get rid of the grease. Then I recook it using currant jelly and slice it, put wooden toothpicks in there and let them munch. Easter should be fun, no matter what religion you are in or out of, "He" would just like you to have fun on His special day, or more especially a family day, never mind what you believe in or choose not to believe in. It's a fun day!!!
Thanks for the recipes. They sound
great.
Strawberry recipes : )
http://www.strawberry-recipes.com/

There are some good crockpot recipes out there, especially

if it's hot and you don't want to use the oven.  I do a "golfer's special".  Line a cake pan with tin foil, put the roast in, and add cut up carrots, potatoes, onions, and celery.  Sprinkle it with onion soup mix or beef gravy mix, close the foil, then bake until done.  It can also be done in the crockpot.

You can cube your roast to make shish kebabs slathered in BBQ or some other bold tasting sauce.  Skewer new potatoes, onions, mushrooms, squash, red peppers, and whatever other veggies you like.

You can cut up the roast either before or after cooking, stick it in the crockpot with some beef broth, let it cook all day, then serve as French dip sandwiches on steak rolls with au jus.  Fries, salad, or chips on the side.

Sometimes I just sit here and Google for recipes when I'm bored and can't think of what to cook for dinner.  Type "rump roast recipe" on Google without quotes to see what else comes up.  You can narrow your search by adding "BBQ" or "crockpot".

would you mind sharing some of your recipes?

Paula Deen is fabulous! I love her recipes and
the way she ooohs and ahhhs when she takes a bite of one of her dishes.  Makes you just wish YOU were the one taking that bite!  See the HomeTalkCafe cooking forum for some fun.  http://www.hometalkcafe.com or click the link below.

Just simple cheese and crackers and cut up vegetables with dip and/or chips and dip are easy and will go with whatever else you might make. Have fun!
For a great web site - try slimfast.com - The recipes are fast and easy -- congrats on trying to

I have boneless chicken breasts marinating. Any good recipes? Too hot to grill outside.

Thanks.

if you feel like that after 12 years, and I feel like that after six months
what hope is there?
I feel people who feel like this post
needs to a) either be a stay at home mother and not work or b) realize that she is no queen bee and I could care less about a degree. What company out here that you know of compensates for having a degree? Means nothing to them. Your working and being there when they assign/need/require/whatever is what you should do IF YOU WANT A JOB in this field, otherwise get out and do something else or become that babysitter.
MT companies negotiate with the insurance companies until they get what they want

It is strictly up to the agreement between the employer and the insurance company.  Your new employer can tell you what the pre-existing clause is in your new policy.  Some require proof of insurance for the past 12 months.  It may say something like if a diagnosis has not been made NOR treatment received within the last __ months.  Not good when companies negotiate with a pre-existing clause in order to get a lower rate.  Better check with your HR with your new company before doing anything.  It really gets hairy !

No need to feel badly for me - feel badly for an adult who has no control of his/her own life!
I hope these people didn't produce any daughters! Bad, bad example!
I think I found it, found multiple recipes with the same
exact ingredients so I figure this must be it.

Most companies do no use their only files (HIPAA). They use files provided by other companies, serv
If you can get through the test files, then the sound quality on the actual company files is better. And, the dictation is never as bad as the test files, plus you have QA to help with hard blanks.

protected by HIPAA, as we all know. I saw that ad too and was surprised to see it. Any identifying info is considered Protected Health Information, including diagnoses, tests, etc. This MTSO should have known better than to ask for that.
thanks for the info
Wanted to make sure it was okay to maybe start early or late some days, can't stand such a rigid schedule when i work at home. Understand about making sure to produce enough first though.
Thanks for all the info....
It saddens me to know that this is a problem with internet companies, I knew it happened at hospitals.
A little info
My sister graduated from nursing school in 1988 and had been working in nursing, until I became an at-home MT and she decided to take a coding course because she wanted to work at home, too. She took the course and took an in-house position. Some months later, she took and passed her certification. Now, she is having a really hard time finding an at-home position. I don't know if it's a typical story, but I do know she's been pursuing it pretty heavily and is having a hard time.
Thanks for that info (sm)
I was contemplating getting a second HSI provider. As it turns out, I am back on now. But, yes, started my day off all wrong. The stress from this is exhausting in itself. I will call BellSouth Fast and get the info. Hope it is available in Calif. If not, will find some sort of remedy with a backup connection using high speed internet, that is for sure. This cost me money.

Thanks for your response!
thank you for the info...sm

I'm considering asking for a trial at it, wish me luck!

appreciate the info
I think animals need a voice and things like PETA, no kill shelters, animal wildlife preserve are very important in our day and age of technology.  We need them as much as they need us.
I think they all have the same info....sm

Because MT is a tiny community and we share the misery well.

I understand what you're saying (and it sucks to be in the situations you were in) but I do believe that if we are adequately vigilant we'll know what we need to.  OTOH, then there's me, and I don't care what they do as long as there's work.  So I get where you're coming from.

I just would like to see an end to the destructionist thinking about MTSOs and MT in general.  :)

Good discussion!

Have you tried looking for the info
on QNET? Might be available there.
I have info on them...
I didn't work for them because a family emergency came up when i was just finished with their training. The lady is really nice, but their training modules are a bit silly. You have to learn their platform to use it to train and then why bother doing the training because you just figured it out on your own..silly.
thanks for the info
