Spring break
I guess I am paranoid, but am afraid to let my 6-year-old granddaughter go out and play unless I am with her or her parents. It is a rotten shame our world has become so unsafe for children. Sounds like you have a good support team for your 5-year-old.
Yep, slow because of spring break.
About half of our clinic's doctors took off the last 2 weeks. It has been extremely slow. I only made half of what I normally do this month. :-( But things are starting to pick up again, so I just plan to work some extra hours next month to help make up for it.
Luckily for me with Spring Break
I have a 15 year old at home who watches her 5 year-old sister. Plus I also took a few days off so we can do things together. Also, there are a lot of kids outside in the neighborhood so they just all go out and play together. I know it would be hard if I didn't have all these things to keep her busy. It's too late now, but in our school district they have all sorts of programs half day and full day to keep the kids busy while their parents work. Maybe next year you could look into that. How about other kids in the neighborhood or maybe a teenager to look out for your son while you work?
My nephew got a girl pregnant at Spring Break.
He was in college.  The girl pretty much partied with every guy there, but tracked them down.  DNA proved paternity.  Now he pays child support to a girl who was a one night stand.  As bad as that is, things could have been worse.  I am just glad my DD never wanted to go.
Parents of College Students..Any of your kids going on Spring Break?
Ugh!  I have a son going with a group of friends to Mexico for thier first "spring break."  They are all good kids, but I've seen the late-night Girls Gone Wild videos... They better be good.
The whole notion of a liver detoxification is just a marketing ploy and a myth.

Myth

Can't you just spring for the cab, to be with your dad on TG? I think I would SM

do that, and maybe they'd have enough shame to give you a lift back to the station to go home.

I wouldn't let anybody keep me from being with my dad  on TGD. Are you sure -- and I'm not trying to inflame you -- that you aren't maybe a little jealous of your steps? Just suck it up and go, don't be a martyr.

spring is here

Just one flower.

I love spring. It's been too hot lately to do anything around here.

I like it about 75 degrees with maybe a slight breeze.  Plus, spring is when the lilacs bloom, all the critters have babies, and the garden starts to grow.  The mosquitoes are out now in the early morning and evening, and it's 98 degrees or more during the day.  It's better than winter, though.  Fall is OK, but it makes me sad because everything is dying and winter's coming.

Spring Forward,

Don't know about elsewhere in the US, but here in the east tonight is the night we turn our clocks ahead one hour.

I had some pretty serious medical problems a year ago and was completely out of it from the middle of March to the middle of April so I have no recollection of time during that period.  Does anyone recall the exact date that we "sprang" forward last year?

Ack, Sprint that is, NOT Spring...nm

Check the spring - you may need a new one

Has anyone seen the commercial
where the snowman is eating soup at the table, and the snow melts off him, and it is a little boy?  Love that commercial.
It it was a commercial
flight then possibly. It's also possible though that it was a private plane. My oncology practice has 4 clinics in outlying areas of the state and the husband of the CEO flies the docs around in his plane.
lamisil commercial

I'm with you "sm", that Lamisil commercial with the toenail lifting gives me the heebie-jeebies!!  It reminds me of when you have a long fingernail and you bang it against something and it bends backwards -- you know, that really freaky feeling....that's what the Lamisil commercial does to me, ouch!

have you seen the nextel commercial?

My son laughs uncontrollably every time this commercial comes on.  So funny!

I saw a commercial last night for Tax Cut
if I am remembering correctly. If it is made by H&R block, then that is the one. It said that if you ever get audited that their representatives with help you through the process if you used that system. Seems like a good benefit to have. Maybe there is some small print to that, but worth checking into. My accountant guarantees to represent you if you get audited too.
Got commercial account
I have Comcast (simply because they're the only provider I can get here) and I had to go to a commercial account because my service kept getting interrupted and it would take them 2-3 days to do anything about it.  A commercial account is costing me $100 a month but they have to deal with any problems I have within 24 hours, so its well worth it considering the money I lost waiting for techs to come out when I was residential.  They never said anything about usage on either account though; their philosophy seems to be that anything residential is frivolous (being used for entertainment purposes) and can wait.  So my advice is to go commercial - its the only way you'll get any respect at Comcast!
I had to get a commercial account
Its more expensive, but they have to guarantee 24 hour problem solution (or at least that a tech will put me at the head of the visit list). I haven't had any grief with them now for about 6 months, and I finally have a second option now (AT&T), so at least now I can dump them if things get bad with them again.
MS Natural Keyboard help! spring needed!

I have a MS Natural multimedia keyboard that I used for about a month before I lost one of the springs that goes underneath the space bar. I tried other keyboards, even springs from pens, but nothing works. Does anyone have ideas on what to try or have a nonworking one that they can sell me the spring out of?

Thanks!

I got a replacement spring at my hardware store .... sm
take your remaining spring as a sample for the gauge ... i had to buy one a foot long, irrc, and cut it with scissors but I think it cost under $2. you might call around to save time ... I used an "old time" amazing local hardware store but I suspect my local Ace hardware would have something too .. (but doubt home depot or Lowes would) ...

There are several reasons I have half a dozen "dead" keyboards in my shed ... and this is one ... I think later models weren't made with this "feature" (the spring under tension poppping out and impossible to find feature, that is) ;-)
It just tastes like the Poland Spring water sm
that I drink all day.  That is why I never bought the fruit water, I don't like sweet drinks.  This is perfect for me.
I'm not spring chicken! LOL I turned 40 today!
Im far from young or immature---I worked in public health for the government for many years, had my children in my mid to late thirties and left the workforce. I still needed income, so that's why I pursued a work at home job, so I could be with my children. I guess I am "immature" or not used to being treated poorly by employers. I've noticed with MT is that if you complain about ANYTHING, you should be thankful that you are working at home! Just because we work at home does not mean we have to accept anything. Again, my employer said one thing in the interview and completely changed the plan once I was released to work from home. This profession needs a union, big time or some type of advocates (please don't meantion AAMT, because they could care less). I have a right to be disappointed that I was basically lied to. If I had known they were going to make me work a set shift when I got in the home, I probably would have turned the job down. Now I have to make the best of if until I can find another professional job and find a good preschool for my toddlers.
Help. Can anyone tell me what the song is on the commercial on tv where the guy is driving across

the US to San Francisco for a cell phone commercial and he pulls up in front of his girlfriends house in SF and calls her on the cell phone and she comes to the door and there he sits in his car. It is the cell phone commercial for the cell phone with the bars on it. This is driving me nuts. I cannot remember the name of that oldie song.

Disgusting commercial, huh?! Hahaha
I use Brawny paper towels and Lysol Kitchen spray on counters and appliances. I use plastic scrubbies on the sink and anything I need to scrub up before the dishwasher and the put the scrubbie in the dishwasher as well. I spray Lysol on the sink and faucets before I go to bed.

I started this when I saw Oprah's show on women who horde and won't clean/throw away anything. The experts she had on the show had checked one woman's kitchen sink for bacteria and compared it to her commode and the commode was cleaner! I about fell over. I have dishcloths and dishtowels but they are washed after every single use! Ewwwwww!
That commercial makes me want to puke.
x
And convenient. Just like the commercial says ' Some families

Lots of information out there. Good luck on your research.
Yes, I would suggest using a commercial expander sm
Like ShortHand or Instant Text. They will increase your productivity tremendously.

As for the buckling down and just getting to work, well, as soon as you realize the secret to that, be sure and share it with the rest of us! If I knew the answer to that, I would not be sitting here on MTStars at 10:03 replying to your message, I would be cranking out the lines!! :)
I saw this great commercial last night in which
there were children playing and then all of a sudden one little girl started ranting on the others, saying something about awful pimples the other child has, etc... and then at the end of the commercial it said never say anything in an e mail you wouldn't say in person....It is a hard lesson but it is true. Another way my 8 year old put it: Ask yourself, is what you said something that should have stayed in your head? I ask myself this every day whether speaking or e mailing or posting, and it really helps.
Hinting spring in Central Maine 40ish.
We're getting there!
That Pepto-Bismol Commercial song!
I now know who actually sings on that Pepto-Bismol commercial - "Upset stomach, diarrhea, -- YEAAAAAAA"  It's the doctors I transcribe for!
Yeah, could you imagine if we made a work at home commercial
that was truthful?  Instead of the serenely peaceful scene with the children playing quietly at your feet while you made $50,000 a year, there would be toys flying everywhere, kids jumping on the furniture, the dog yacking on the carpet, neighbors banging on the door, the phone ringing off the hook, laundy piled up to the ceiling, and a husband whining about something or another.
Awesome! Here, a local computer repair shop has a similar commercial. Its really funny. nm

I love the Sprint commercial where Donnie Osman is talking to Sprint guy
and says now he can call all his relatives so on and so on and Tito.  Then Sprint guy says Donnie doesn't have a Tito in his family.  So funny.  A play on Michael Jackson's family.  I love the Sprint guy anyway.
Thank you ghost! So true! So true! More than one person!

Yer crackin' me up! True, true, true! nm

How about the Brawny commercial where the guy looks like he has a roll of Brawny in his pants?
x
Take a break
I have felt this way many times while transcribing. I have actually taken a leave of absence to get over it. It does help.
a break...
You said that Hispanics did not gang rape and were not pedophiles - that it is always white men and of course, priests. You want to apologize to Catholics for accusing all priests for what a very few did? You honestly don't think other churches' religious leaders are pedophiles?

Give the rest of us a break and go educate yourself before you post on here.

BTW, how old are you? You sound like a 12-year-old with your puhleeez...........
It is definitely a better tax break
and you get flexible hours like an IC while having your employer share of SS tax paid by the company.
They can still break
They can still break while the doctor is dictating or rewinding or when you are playing to covert.  There is still that possibility.  Kind of like BCP's -- not 100% guarantee
5 a.m. and now time for a break

I've always said I'd rather break a leg....sm

than a hand... and sure enough I did.  A few years ago I fell off the top of a ladder and as I was falling, which only took about 5 seconds, my MT survival instincts took over and I stuck my foot out to protect my hands.  Three surgeries later I was back at work with a cast on my right leg from ankle to thigh.  Believe me, you'll adjust to using your left foot.  I did it for almost a year.

Do it anyway. I have not had a break either, but am taking off 18-23 - sm
my mental health is more important than $. Going up to my dad's for a few days to celebrate Jen's last chemo (8/17), have her rest by the pool at his house, visit the Herr's plant, go to Dutch Wonderland, Philly zoo, etc. Just me and my 2 girls to have a little fun together...and for me to see my dad and my friends up in PA. Shouldn't be doing it money-wise, but tough, I know I deserve it and my kids too. We couldn't take a formal vacation due to Jen's chemo and some restrictions, so this is the next best thing. -- If you feel you can't take 5+ days off then do 2-3 and go out and do something. It will make you feel better.
No, I just was finished with my break and had to
get back to work. VPN is not connecting and I'm on hold with tech support.

There are a few things that would make me leave: A really harsh line rate cut for the same work; being forced to be an employee with a set schedule are two reasons that come to mind immediately.
Give yourself a break (sm)

and do something else this year, it doesn't have to be forever.  Also, I think you should tell your mother the problem.

You can join me, I have an evil stepmother and nobody would pick me up from the Amtrak and now the tickets are sold out and it's too late to go for the holidays.  On the other hand, I find dealing with it so draining that I'm off the hook this year and can do whatever I want, I won't be spending my holiday on the freeway.  Good luck!

How do you break into op reports?
Is there one specialty or type of report that's easier or faster or generates more lines?  Is it the platform?  Which platform is the best?  I really would like to have a half-decent MT income in 2006.  I have the SUM program ops tapes but no keys.  Thanks.
I know what you mean but I have been lucky this break - sm
First day of break we left for Disney on a Make-A-Wish trip for my daughter who has/had a Wilms tumor (03/2005). So we had 6 days of fun there at a wonderful place called Give the Kids the World Village....only children with cancer, recovering from cancer, etc., stay there, great place. So back from that, had Christmas at home then I took them to see my dad (saw their other grandparents on Christmas day) and we are leaving from his house this morning. So they have been kept pretty busy and have had a blast. Granted my paycheck will be pretty poor (took off for Disney of course) and worked very minimally while at my dads. Key is to keep them busy and not bored I guess. Of course I have to get until Tuesday now at home but with all the gifts from Christmas, etc. I think they will be able to entertain themselves for a while....plus they usually pester my DH before me....but I have a very light work schedule for the weekend ( a whole 30 minutes of work, I think--haven't checked yet though) and don't work again until Tuesday. So I am enjoying it since next week won't be so leisure filled. Try to enjoy some, just make a little less for 2 weeks, then jump back in the grind!
hate to break it to you
but the JC is just a company paid by the hospitals to rate them. They really really don't do anything other than that. Your email will be deleted faster than you can say "where'd it go?" Some of the Americans are worse than the foreigners, slurring, sounding like on a mixture of crack and or meth.
should be "planes" - Wow, I need a break! nm
