You underestimate what it takes to run your own business.
Lisa, how many doors did the MTSO knock on to get her accounts? How many times did she call the OM "just to chat" to keep the account up? How many times did she trouble shoot the connections? How many flyers did she send out? How many prospects did she meet with, only to be outbid? How many times did she stay up til 2:00 a.m. covering for an MT who didn't go on? How about paying the attorney fees to incorporate? How about investing in equipment? How about going on boards to see what's happening in the field?
When you finally get your accounts, it is time for payback for all those above and beyond things you did that you didn't get paid for.
