My goodness, there are MQ offices crying for help. Gets transferred out of Amherst to Ohio or one of
the other offices. I will do that if they run me out of work at Amherst. I dont plan to stick around long if that happens.
Can anyone suggest an office in MQ that is not run like this Amherst office. They are absolutely
pathetic. I wonder how many other MTs are in that office in the same situation.
Ohio office
If you mean the Columbus office, not good. Ran out of work repeatedly even though had backup accounts. Was told to assure work, could switch to evenings and weekends, so I quit.
I want to say it was the Ohio office but I can't
promise. That was back at the beginning of the year and I didn't take the job. I talked to people at 2 different offices.
re: MQ ohio office contact info

Worked there a few years back, think her name was Joanna, who did the training/hiring.  But I've heard of late (since they consolidated all Ohio offices) that there's a lot of new people.  Phone number is 888-899-5470.  HTH

Amherst office
Maybe we should all call the ofiice this morning and ask them where all the work went to this week end?
MQ-Amherst office/quota

I work out of the Amherst office and have gotten a letter about not making quota for insurance purposes--HELLO--I can not make my lines each pay period if I have no work. I have called and emailed the office numerous times explaining the lack of work, been given more accounts, and yet run out of work but yet the hiring of newbies continues and from what I gather from the posting, all of Warminster is now in Amherst also. After reading the SEC comments on MQ and the money spent on lawyers, contract buy outs, loss of clients and lowser rates, I wonder where we will all end up. With the Atlanta office closing on 9/1/2005, I wonder how many more offices are closing between now and the end of the year. The closing of offices was one of the things mentioned in the disclosure, sorry, the conslidation of offices, termination of office employees, telecom cuts--all ways for MQ to save money. I guess you would have to after spending $18 million dollars on lawyer fees already and none of the lawsuits are settled.

Where will this all end

Amherst, I am out of the Atlanta Office
/
Could people in the Amherst office tell me

whether the accounts they work for are local to their area, or do you do accounts that are across the country?  The particular account I work on, I trained with all the ladies on it a couple of months ago on DQS (we all worked on it in another office w/o DQS), and so far, we have a lot of work.

Wondering if the problem with lack of work just depends on which accounts you work on and not necessarily a problem as a whole.

You mean Amherst has a bunch of liars also in the office. Seems to be the MQ way.
:
You would think this office would wise up but guess not until it is too late. I am from Amherst and
I guarantee you I am looking. I pity anyone who gets hired by MQ for Amherst. That all situation is an absolute joke. They need to get rid of the people up there responsible for these problems.
Can someone from the Ohio MQ office give me a contact person and a phone number to call or an email
address. I am interesting in asking a few questions to someone there in hopes of possibly transferring but I need some info first before I go from one problem to the same one elsewhere.
Just got transferred to the Amherst office and am wondering what to expect from that transfer.

Can anyone tell me anything about how they operate that office. Do you have work in your regular accounts without hundreds of backups or what is the situation.

I have asked numerous times if people like the Amherst office but seems no one ever offers their
opinion about that office. Just transferred there and I am sure many other MTs on here work out of that office.
Do not work for Amherst if you can work for any other office in MQ. It is terrible. They overload
accounts terribly. We are always running out of work or need to have 8 or 9 backups to get lines in. This is the way it is. There may be a few out there that it is different but I do acute care and was just transferred there along with my office and everyone in my office is in the same boat. Not a good deal at all.
Good old Amherst and couple with their ridiculous QA point plan. They people in AMHERST ARE NUTS. I
hope MQ loses all of its good MTs and then the hospitals can yell about quality and leave. My account just disappeared after being transferred up there and then find they have hired new people for it.
I think anyone whose accounts have been transferred to Amherst needs to email Amherst and also to
let their supervisors know at their office if it is still open what is happening here. We also have to deal with no weekend pay, no holiday pay, NO WORK so expected to sit around for holidays for nothing and NO WORK and their QA and no blanks situation when we are on 8 accounts. This is an absolutely ridiculous situation and Corporate needs to be made aware of it and if they do nothing then I hope MQ loses all its MTs and accounts for all the blanks and poor quality work that does back to the hospitals. That is always what happens when you do this.
Does anyone on her work for Amherst MQ and how is that office to work for.
:
Maybe all of MQ will be like Amherst or maybe so many of us at Amherst have not work they gave us
other accounts in other offices. They sure overhired but a lot have quit because of no work. One thing for sure, you wont get the truth out of your supervisor.
This is not unusual
It is not an usual side effect to lose hair after anethesia.  However, major surgery can also set off other problems, such as hypothyroidism, which is also notorious for hair loss.  If I were you, I would see my PCP and get some routine labs checked, just in case.
Because it is unusual...
She has every right to question it.
unusual
I want to know if this ever happened to anyone's file.  This appeared in the middle of an office note

!اط考ااا֝考ططط֝屸ほ(ᮁ鏅ᩱ䛆[1]شض考ططط֝考ططط֝屸ほ(᭘鏅ᩱ䛆!طٓCE NOTE 5/24/08

Is this unusual or am I not alone?

I have had the strangest thing happen to me about how my MT career is going.  Up until about a year ago, I felt very secure in my career, working for a hospital for a long time.  After they let our incentive go, I got into a couple of jobs with services where it seemed like something was wrong with each.  Line counts not right, no work available, etc.  I finally am working as an IC with a decent company, however, when I first started there they were running out of work constantly. So, I have 3 accounts now, and I see they are hiring again.

My problem is this: I have this fear that I will never again be able to feel comfortable in my job. I keep looking for other jobs to go alongside this one in case we run out of work again.  But, my doc says one job is enough, or I get stressed out.  This is ever since the last year when I was tossed about between services.  But I keep looking to see if I can find that 1 job where I don't have to worry anymore.  I would take it along side this for long enough to know that this other new job would provide the security I seek.

Yet, when I get a second job, I am afraid of having 2, so I stick with the IC and regret that I did not try.  Any suggestions?  I am not asking for a million dollars, or even a guarantee that the job be 100% perfect.  I just want to be comfortable in the knowledge that I can have a decent paycheck and feed my kids without worrying from day to day will there be work? Are they over-hiring again? Should I indeed quit looking for that job and settle with my phobias, or should I trust my instinct, keep looking and finally overlap the 2 for a while (in spite of the doc's warnings of stress) and perhaps get a better job?

Thanks in advance for your comments.  I am so confused, because I have never in my life experienced such a lack of trust in my job and a possible new job.

Unusual names

I feel your pain, but they don't have to be foreign.  What about Dakota?  Is that a boy, a girl or the family truck?  I know I shouldn't laugh.  A dear friend has a lovely little boy with that name.  It's just that when you're typing a report without a genital exam, how can you tell?

I used to be director of medical records in a tiny rural hospital, so I typed up the birth certificates.  Here are some of my all-time personal favorites:

Caboose.  A little boy, the 8th child.  Mom didn't care what the Pope said, this was it and she had a tubal.

Princess Leia.  The original Star Wars had just come out.

Vagina.  Yeah, you read that right!  A little girl.  Nobody could change mom's mind.  That was an interesting call from the Health Department!

Bambi.  I know, it's more common than I thought.  Great for a little kid who can't talk yet, but I have no picture of her 98 and in a nursing home.

Actually, my coworkers weren't any better.  We threatened to provide a "name your baby service" for the parents who just couldn't come up with a name after 8-9 months of thinking about it.  The Wolf twins were going to be Timber and Gray.  The Fruit triplets were going to be Grape, Passion and Juicy.  No, we never really did that, but we were tempted.

Hope you had a good laugh.  You deserve it!

Unusual clinical history...
"The patient is status post gunshot wound to the head now complaining of headaches." Yes, bullets tend to cause headaches, I'm sure!
Bruce's Unusual Typing Wizard

Fun way to learn to type and brush up on your skills.

Doc's mispronounce all the time. This is not unusual. The reason sm
they pay us what the do is so that we insert the correct spelling and know what they are saying. You'll get better at this with experience.
Unusual word turned simple.
I just started work in a hospital and this doc, a Chinese gynecologist who is MY DOCTOR, was saying "peewah".  I finally realized, it was "period"!  Good heavens, I thought I was losing it and was going to have to find a new doctor in the process.  I love him, but that word was making me crazy.(period or peewah, whatever you prefer)  Zoinks!
What's your problem? The OP said her docs transcribe. That is unusual.
xxx
Does not sound like $$ problems, just that they do not want to pay every 2 weeks. Unusual for billi
x
Yes, ergonomic...geez, didn't think it was that unusual to say split. lol
nm
It's not unusual for a patient listed as allergic to penicillin to be given it anyway.
Often it's the only drug that will work and the allergy was vague and from so long ago, they deliberately try it anyway. If that had been the case, you'd have more than likely gotten a very negative response.
My doctor just gave me a very unusual patient name and didn't spell it,

then she's trying to read the date of discharge and says, "God, can't anybody write?  You're going  to have hold off on that because I really can't read any of this."

Hmmm, doc, it's just like YOUR DICTATION.....couldn't you at least spell the name or say it twice the SAME WAY within 2 sentences.

Okay, I'm done venting now.

So much for Ohio.
Ohio MQ is closing in December. Another one bites the dust...
Ohio MQ.... how do you know?
Where did you get this info?
MQ OHIO
To MQ Titanic, that is big statement you have made that will affect a ton of people, so unless you have a statement forthcoming ASAP to back that up, we are all going to have to assume you are full of icebergs.  Please either prove or lose.
gas/Ohio
No shortage in SW Ohio...reg is 3.09 as of Weds eve.
GO TO OHIO--MQ

If there is any chance that you can transfer and get out of the xxx hole that they call Amherst MQ, go to the Ohio office, plenty of work and you are treated with respect--stay away from Foxboro and Amherst--nothing but misery

I can not say enough about the people at the Ohio MQ office--they are the best

DON'T GO TO OHIO!
They are closing in December. Period.
Yes, Ohio here
We do not judge them all by a few as one poster does.
Come 2 Ohio...
Where the livin' is easy and the work is bountiful...

Hi,

I am just curious as I don't see many people from Ohio. Whereabouts are you? I am in Cleveland.  Do you have a lot of accounts? I keep pretty busy and mine are pretty diversified with one ESL which took me about two months to finally understand.  I was lucky they kept me along.

Just wanted to say Hi to a fellow Buckeye!

If you look up Ohio's bad (sm)

check laws, they apparently allow for the greater of $200 or 3x the check's face amount in liquidation fees.  I'm thinking though, that with the amount of these checks, you are outside the small claims situation.  You would then go to the next level in the court.  Maybe you can call the Ohio Court in the county/town she lives in and ask what one might do in this situation?  Maybe you can even check with your own state's court and see what their recommendation is.  I think the amount of the checks is going to be key here.  Fraud? Criminal?  This is a LOT of money here.

I think your willingness to keep on working and not push the matter has also played a piece in her obvious oblivion to this?  Might be work $100 to have a lawyer write her a strongly worded letter - might just get her attention?

Ohio MTs

I just saw ****of Cleveland Plain Dealer (newspaper) on C-SPAN.  She is a journalist who cares about people losing their jobs in the state of Ohio.  After hearing her on C-SPAN, I believe if MTs from Ohio would contact her about all of our issues regarding offshoring of our jobs, unfair pay for VR, our personal information going overseas, etc., she just might be the person to take up the issue.  She fights for the working man/woman.  She is a wonderful person.  She even said she would be glad to hear from people by telephone.  I think if enough MTs from Ohio contact her, she might help us all.  Her phone number at the Cleveland Plain Dealer is ****.  I couldn't verify email address from the web site but did find www.cleveland.com/schultz/ (I haven't tried this yet).  She is also a Pulitzer Prize Winner for her excellence in journalism.  I'll be contacting her.  I hope others do as well.

****Phone numbers are not to be posted nor other private information.****

Have most people had good luck with their MQ office closing and moving to the regional office. Have
things gotten better or worse for you.
Yes, I lost mine. I upgraded the Office 2000 package to Office 2003. sm
I have over 2000 autocorrect entries and lost them all as well as my supplemental dictionary for my Stedman's spellcheck. Lots of grief!

Maybe you will be lucky and not lose anything. Good luck to you.
Might be able to rent one from an office supply or office machine repair shop

Eek! 72 here in Ohio, and that's a concession
to trying to save a little money! Ideally, I like it 68 year-round. That's what I love about working from home: I can control my environment. At my last "regular" job in a bank op center, there were these 2 girls who always had the thermostat set to 80 in the office and I would sweat my rear end off, not to mention the fact that I had a very physical job to begin with. Yuck. I don't miss that at all.
One of the Ohio offices
I'd rather not say which. Been there years.... it's gotten worse, not better!
