well, I guess I envy ya'll! sm

I think I envy ya'll, anyways. For me, working that much just is not possible.  Of course, I do have three kids at home, plus a husband.  So, I don't know. I'd rather spend time with them than work all the time.  But, I'm not knocking ya'll.  I say if you can do it, go for it! Maybe one day I'll be able to work that much and make the BIG bucks. My hat's off to ya!

Thank you! Guess I'll have to go back...

Guess you'll have to come to my house for pizza!

Just finished canning 30 pints of pizza sauce from my homegrown tomatoes, peppers, basil, garlic, oregano and husband grows the onions.  Husband and his brothers own a large crop farm so can and freeze lots of veggies.  Also made salsa last week.  Almost always make my own pizza anymore because of the artificial color problem.  Haven't quite perfected it though (that pizzeria taste) but have got the crust almost "right".  Would be happy to share my recipe for dough.  Also sincere the in the shoulder if you need one- would be willing to share email address to correspond.

Ezcema is such a bummer!!  I have several nephews (husbands side of the family) with it.  Was worse for them when they were younger and has definitely gotten better now that they are older teens now.  Food allergies did seem to be a culprit for them.  Can you believe that when my daughter was totally covered all summer with hives that I went to my mother in law and asked her if anyone in the family had any allergies that she knew of because I was totally at a loss, immediately she said no without a thought.  (Couldn't be anyone in "her family").  Then after I almost killed my daughter with Amoxicillian (strep throat), Gatorade, cough syrup (cold/cough), Benadryl (hives) and Advil (fever) (all of which have red dye which she is most allergic to) and her face and throat swelled up the mother in law suddenly remembered her sister stops breathing if she has artifical food colors.  Golly gee thanks for your help. Her sister has food allergies and so do the nephews thanks for thinking of your granddaughter.

I guess you'll have to wait for the TV version then

Well, I guess I'll take my pay rate as a compliment then.
I graduated top of my class, and no, I didn't go to one of the "Big 3". I was actually hired 1 month before I graduated. I had 5 different job offers from various nationals and I chose one. I do not think 8 cpl is high at all. In fact, when I was doing my research on companies before I graduated, that seemed to be the going rate whether you had experience or not. I consistently type 1200+ lines a day and my QA score is 99%. I feel that 8 cpl is an appropriate rate for a newbie MT, especially when you consider that a lot of companies want to pay that for years of experience. If I only transcribed 1000 lines a day (8 hours), 5 days a week at 8 cpl, that would average out to $10.00 an hour. That is not a lot. I'm a single mom and frankly couldn't work for a company that offered less than 8 cpl.
I guess ya'll missed the point, but not surprising
I asked for opinions only of people who had SEEN the movie, oh well. I saw it and found it very sad, sad that people are condemned for who they love!!!
Guess they'll be in with food poisoning next time
    since they ate that gangrene...bwahahahahaha
I do. I guess I'll wait a few mintues before disconnecting from the VPN
after I close out EXText.  I guess I'm just in too big of a hurry to shut down when my shift is over!
I guess we'll stay home and eat Ramen. Hadn't though about food going up too.

    I envy you!

I envy those of you who are doing so well
If I'd been allowed to maintain the workload I had just a couple of months ago, I might have been on track to join your ranks (minus the vacations), but once I started making what my boss considered "too much" money per pay period, she decided she wanted more of that for herself and started taking away accounts and cut my workload by about 75%.

Those of you who are doing so well consistently are very fortunate.
    I sense some envy here...
Not everyone wants to go digital.  Sounds like your nursing friend is probably making out okay since she hires newbies that work cheap...  hmmmm...
I am green with envy. I saw him a few years ago..
I paid $175 per ticket so I could have floor seats. I was maybe 20 rows from the stage. That was the year he toured with Billy Joel. Anyway, the show was fabulous. He played a nice mix of old songs and newer songs. He wears the most incredible, elaborate outfits. The first was was a teal green suit, covered in sequins and rhinestones. I wondered how heavy it must have been. He changed for the second set, and I think the suit was pink, not sure, but it was also fantastic!! The only thing that disappointed me was he really did not interact with the audience as much as I expected. But the performance itself was wonderful, and I would love to see him again. As far as the crowd goes, it was not a rock concert crowd at all. The average age was probably around 40, lots of women, no craziness, no drugs that I saw. Very mild mannered crowd.
Wouldn't call it envy. I don't even do
transcription anymore and haven't for almost 2 years.  I check in on this board and it just confirms that I made the right move.  At least I have bennies and my backside is half the size it used to be from sitting on it all day trying to make ends meet.
I envy you! But I am very happy at your success! Wish more of us could be as fortunate! :) nm

Envy? Bitterness? Can't hang with the big dogs?
    Bad advice?

There are too many on this board who think it is their job to bring others down so thaty they have somebody else to play with in the sandbox.
You've been trying to say doctor envy on the company board all morning?
No wonder you get flamed.  You think people don't like other posters because they might be a doctor?   You been posting all morning and now this afternoon and you are concerned about work ethic?  Sorry Charlie your post and your actions make NO SENSE.
Who has time to play at this stuff when it's all about churning out those lines?? I envy you your

When I broke my ankle, I was just grateful it wasn't the hands. Without our hands we'd be totally screwed.

I broke my right ankle slipping on ice and was lucky to have gloves on because the palm of the glove was totally torn up and my hand was okay.

Good luck and be sure to do your exercises when it is time.

I'll vent and I'll sign my name sm
I have two IC contracts right now. I recently went back to a job I had quit earlier in the year to work for the other company I am still working for.

The newer job has 80% ESLs. I transcribe OP notes primarily and I can fill in other work types as the opportunity arises. I am frustrated with this particular situation. After 6 months, I am making less money and working longer hours. I am past the learning curve and I should be doing better, at least in the number of hours I am spending doing the job. We have run out of work for 24 hrs at a time at least 5 or 6 times since December 1, and in November it was more than that. I have a friend who worked for this company as well and she was having similar difficulties. The only thing that we can figure is that they are shorting us line count some way, because after 6 months at it, it should be easier/faster/more money, but it is less and less every single pay period. It is not a nice thing to accuse a company of doing, but it SEEMS that way to us. I am fed up with being expected to type every single OP note that comes in 24/7 and meeting the 6 hr TAT for them on weekends, evenings, holidays, wee hours of the morning...

I took back a job I held for 2-1/2 yrs. The team leader has changed and this gal thinks that I should be on call 24/7 for whenever she has work. I might have some at 7 a.m., or perhaps not until 6 p.m. or later. I can't plan my personal life and between these two IC situations, I find that I am not eating on a daily basis, not showering on a daily basis and not sleeping more than 3 or 4 hours at a time. I have lost weight and I don't feel very well. I woke up today with a rip roaring head cold (my first in nearly 8 yrs) and it has already moved to bronchitis and I am expecting pneumonia by the weekend because I develop it very easily. I already have deep pain in my back.

Yes, I should call in sick tomorrow, but I really can't take the fallout. The job I took back I am covering for another gal who wanted vacation over the holidays and if I have to call in sick, the team leader will call me and pitch a fit about how this is my responsibility. It IS my responsibility, I did say I would do it, and I will do it, despite being quite ill. In the past, when I worked for this company, they would not allow me to call in sick for a "cold" without a doctor's note. I worked through many illnesses with them and only called in sick when I developed West Nile Fever and while I was sick for over a month, I only called for my last 12 reports one day when I could no longer see the computer screen because my head hurt.

The problem is that yes, many MTs lack work ethic. They don't take their responsibility seriously. This is not a work as you please career, not even for an IC. I can see the MTSO's point of view, I truly can. Like finding experienced, reliable and capable MTs, for the MTs who are these things, finding a company will treat you like a human being is equally difficult. I sit here, feeling lousy and like I am an utter slave labor with no consideration whatsoever. I know that my work needs to be done, but when I am this sick it is better that someone else do it for the sake of the work, for accuracy and for speed of getting it out. I know that I am needed, but to be the MT these companies need me to be, I also need to look after my own health.

I will also mention that when I have asked for vacation, I have been approved for the time, but the MTSO queues up my work and calls me then I am not on the system getting it done. I have told them I had been approved for time off, but the MTSO didn't schedule anyone to cover for me and I am told to get on work, vacation or no, if I want to keep my job.

Thus, I work 24/7/365 and have for years. I work sick, I work when I am in pain (I have an AI disorder), I work exhausted from staying up all night covering for others who are allowed to call in sick and have vacations when I can't have either. I work having no health insurance and not being able to afford the $125 a month to buy some with a high copay so I can see a doctor. I work without breaks for breakfast, lunch or dinner and I sometimes come close to having an accident because if I leave my desk to go to the little girls' room I get nasty calls about where I am at and what I am doing.

Many MTs are mistreated, and I am one of them.
If it's different for each report, my guess (only a guess)
would be no. I think the macro would work if it was the same each time, but not sure if it will if the documents are different each time.

just plain stupid and can't read.  I have a job and make good money.

Plus that, I can afford to not work for peanuts and hold out for the better paying position because I have a lot more skills than just MT.  First of all, I can read and understand the English language which you obviously cannot.  AMF

    My guess
My guess is that since you are the one who noticed, you are probably the one writing the nastygram posts - now you have someone to blame it on because of someone else's misfortune - I have power and I live in Florida, too bad the people who do not have power cannot respond to your rude remarks about the misfortunate.
I guess I am really different
I love OB-GYN most of all. Of course, I have had the same three docs for over 10 years and I have had the liberty of asking them to turn their recorders all the way up and they have obliged. They speak very loudly and clearly. Even after all these years, for some reason, I am not bored with the work. My female docs dictate normally two pages on every patient (my male doc dictates about half a page) so I get a lot of dictation and a lot of canned paragraphs to boot.

When I worked for a large national, I liked the Infectious Disease docs the best but I hated having over 100 dictators in several specialties.

I now work for a small MTSO (plus have my own OB account) and I have nine GI docs and I really enjoy it thus far.
to each their own I guess
I thought the bomb scene was totally realistic, how in the heck did they film that, unbelievable.
guess what I was asking was
how do others break into this? Is it usually done by word of mouth, answering ads, or your own marketing. But, Thx, I will take a look back a few days
Ah, yes, I guess there are...
those kinds of adapters. LOL, ''gender changer'' (rather a misnomer for the female-to-female and male-to-male ones, though, huh?).

Well, I guess somebody has to do it. (sm)
    But it won't be me!
    Guess you are right
not to feed the trolls. It is hard though, sometimes, when you see them ganging up on some poor innocent unsuspecting poster who just wanted to post what she was making for dinner that day and all of a sudden she is a target for rude abuse. It is not fair, and sometimes it is not easy to keep quiet. I am done for the day though, as they are dragging me down too. Can't win when they think they are right to be able to hurt someone else. Just glad I am not the only one that feels that way though. Thanks for your input. Keep reminding us not to feed the trolls...it may help. lol
guess we know what Mom would say

You made the income, you spent the income, you owe the taxes.  Hopefully you are putting money aside to pay this year's taxes.  I feel for you in a way but you gotta be disciplined and put money aside to pay your taxes.   You can work out a payment plan with the state but why should they write yours off and not mine.

I guess I can see that for
in-house positions or people working with money.  But I wonder why they would want that kind of information for someone strictly doing transcription at home.  I've had credit card debt and even some collections in the past but not because of irresponsbility but because of illness, job loss, etc.  I just think it'd be a shame for somebody with bills to not get a job they need and want so they can pay off those bills, just because they have those bills, KWIM?  Thanks for responding!
