Get under someone's wing

Diane, I will tell you how I got into the field. It may not work for you, but I hope it helps. I advise you to find someone who is already an MT who is willing to subcontract work to you and/or train you (I know you went to a school, but it is not the same as experience). I was fortunate in that my mother, also an MT, trained me. She subcontracted her work to me, allowing me to gain valuable experience. Of course, she checked it before returning it to her clients. I was also fortunate to be hired at a cardiology clinic with no more than this one year of subcontracting experience in two other specialties! But I learned very, very quickly and my employer was very impressed and did not regret hiring someone with no cardiology experience. If you are lucky, you might find a clinic or a service like that. Just keep looking. Good luck!
