I'm an IC

I love being an IC and really would not consider being an employee. With my husband's job, I don't need benefits, and I also need a lot of flexibility because of his job, so IC has been perfect for me. With my contracts, they give me the work and the TAT, and I figure out when I'm going to get it done and back in before the deadline. So yes, as an IC you can split up your hours and work when you want. However, also keep in mind that the accounts I have are mine or I am the lead MT on them, so the MTSO knows that I will be completing the work and "turning it in" within the TAT. If you are not the only MT on a given account, the company needs to have an idea of who is working when and possibly a line # commitment to ensure that all the work is going to be done on time.

I think one of the neatest things about this field is that there are so many options available so one way or another, everyone can customize their job to best fit their lifestyle.
