which means I was not technically a "coder," as the term is defined these days, but in our department (a 3-doctor oncology-hematology office) we did deal with code-related issues a lot. Coding directly affects the reimbursement end of medicine, and reimbursement is in such a mess these days, I have said I would clean toilets before I'd go back to billing.

I have also been an MT for nearly 37 years, and in my experience, transcribing has MUCH less stress than anything that has to do with reimbursement. Of course, that is my experience only; others' mileage may vary.
