I was once offered a job

at a local hospital where I had to work there for 6 months and then could work from home.  What I didn't like, and many may have to do this, I don't know, but I still had to work their hours, and they could go on-line to see if I was working.  I, too, decided on this career so I could stay home and work at my own pace.  The docs I work for now don't care when I work, (I have terrible insomnia so sometimes I work in the middle of the night), just as long as I get my work done.

Work offered

I am a new and I was offered a job by another MT who has lots of extra work. Is it a good idea to take work like this. Please I need some advice on this.

no reference books offered
We do not have reference books. There are about 20 reports to transcribe in the entire course. No we do not use the SUM method. However, I am planning to purchase additional practice tapes from HPI. I was told that they do help with placement. From what I can tell so far, this course gives you the basics of MT. I know now that I will need to practice, practice, Practice.
what if you offered to pick up your check from them?

Not really, but I was offered one account that needs a Cphone....
Would that make it worthwhile? Are they widely used?

Thnx
Can you please share the company that offered you a position? Thanks. nm

Every time I offered to hire newbies...
they told me they wanted 6-8 cents a line, some even asked for 10! I'm through with hiring new people that I have to train about every single thing in the business, from research to finding doctor's names, to software, to file transfer protocols, to long distance packages, etc. They take up all my time when I have other MT's with tons of experience who will do it for 7. Plug N Play.
