Brandy I went to the Medigrafix website and it states that you need 5+ years experience.  How did you get the position as a newby?

Getting a transcription position

I've worked for 19 years as a Transcriptionist for a mental health facility and now that I'm close to being able to retire, I'd like to do the transcription from home, but because I'm not certified, can't get a second look.  Any suggestions????  Thanks

Terri

Position at company
I am a newbie but would be interested in the company that is hiring. Could you how to reach them?
What is depressing is that someone in your position,
is posting a message about errors, and is not proofreading their own sentences. I found several grammar errors in yours, but I will not comment on that. LOL

I do understand what you are saying, but sometimes we are allowed to relax a bit and just take it easy. I am not applying for a job here. I am simply looking for constructive information. I will not put you down or anyone else who has their own reasons for mistakes that were made in messages posted here. I look at several MT boards on the internet and have learned a lot from the older MTs and I will continue to improve my skills no matter what it takes. I love it. I never claimed to be perfect or entitled to anything. Life has thrown me some curves, but it is getting better.
Seeking a position
I am generally good with different speech patterns, having lived overseas and around the military.  I would really appreciate if someone could direct me to a site where I could internship/work/test for ESL accounts.  Any suggestions?  Generally, I enjoy the challenge of deciphering the word choice.  It is almost like a puzzle.  Am I crazy?
Employee Position

Hi Lori,

Check with someone at Career Step.  They should offer you a listing of employers who will test their graduates.  I am an M-Tec grad, and there are many job opportunities available for graduates.  I would think that Career Step would offer the same thing.  Since you have some experience under your belt, I am sure you would have no trouble finding a job!

Good luck!

Sounds like you need the position from Boo2
is requiring.  Maybe you wouldn't have to look for a job, filling out those applications and trying to do those tests.  Since you do not have children, you should have no problem at all with the turnaround.  You two could be two peas in a pod.   Oh, I'm bad, very bad!  Take a taste of your own medicine, bitter or sweet?  Lord, forgive me, please!
How do I find a Newbie MT Position with No experience

Hi!  Just wondering I am new to this and I am still in school but really would like to start working ....How Do I find a Entry Level position...These companies don't want anyone without at least 2 years experience and Up..What about the rest of us?

Georgia

Better paid healthcare position to MT here...big adjustment, but it's...

entirely worth it.  The lower pay (at least for a while) versus the stress you feel as an RN - only you can decide, but in the long run I'll go with MT any day.

Also, if I were you, I would go with M-Tec rather than CS.  It is a much more comprehensive program, and you will be much more prepared.  Yes, it is a bit more expensive, but you will have many, many job offers when you graduate and can pick what suits you best.

Can you please share the company that offered you a position? Thanks. nm
xx
I have finally graduated and accepted a position! I'm so excited!
For all of you still in school, don't give up!  Get stubborn, work hard, and it will happen!  Good Luck to all!!
Amanda, you know what? I sat here all weekend thinking about offering Lisa an IC position (sm)

that might be able to help her out, as I work in 12-hour TATs, but the more I saw the posts left from her, the more I chose not to get involved.  I come to this board for the specific reason of offering help, as I feel anyone who truly needs a break should be given the opportunity.  However, Lisa has made it blatantly clear that the only opportunity she wants is on HER terms and I actually feel slighted that I was willing to take a chance with someone who comes across the way she has.

Also, I am offended by the fact that Lisa states her first job is "Mom," as if mine is not.  Yes, I do WORK as an MT and I work hard at it, but I also am there for every single aspect of my children's lives, including class mother, PTA chairperson, basketball, softball, baseball, dance, etc.  I work hard daily for the balance (without the benefit of my wonderful husband) and I MAKE it work for all of us and for that I am rewarded and blessed.  How dare someone even critique my abilities, especially as a mother.
