Job Seekers Board?
My apologies, I'm new at this. Should I post it on the Job Seeker's Board?
Jenn
don't believe all that you read on this board.
I have worked for Medquist for a few years, and I think they are a great company to work for.  There have been a few bumps in the road, but they hear the MT's and are trying to correct them.  The pay is good, and the platform is excellent.
job seekers board
Do you know what I think is really funny? When newbies (me)ask where we can find a job that hires new graduates and we are told to check the job seeker's board! Have you checked it lately?? 2-5 years experience and NEW GRADUATES need not apply! How do we get experience? with pay??
job seekers board
I am sorry but to me that is a load of you know what!! I worked just as hard as anyone and I am sick of hearing how I should of went to Andrews or M-tech whatever!!! I worked my butt off for along time and I would just like a chance to prove what I have learned! who cares what school I went to? Sometimes it has to do with the student don't you think?
There's a job on the seekers board for new MTs.

New MTs looking may want to apply.  I'm not a newbie, but will never forget how I started out.

There is info further down this board regarding CS.

Ask on the word board.

I'm new to this board (maybe 2 weeks).
Sometimes I just read the posts to see who is the meanest. EvaEv - you win!
This isn't the word board and it isn't a very
active board.   Ask your question on the word board if you can't find your answer by googling.
Where should I post it?
Is there a section on MT Stars that you post resumes or are you saying to just post it in a message? Thanks
I appreciate your post and I do
recognize what has been happening in the field.  As you stated, many MTs are allowing it to happen which is sad.  There is no way to go up from there and they don't have a clue to recognize that.
sorry..about my last post..
I thought I was answering on another string of posts.
In regards to my post
I never said MTec was dishonest. The gist of the post was that an MT training school could not give objective advice to a person considering purchasing their product. The OP was simply told to take this into consideration. Surely no one can disagree with that statement?
they won't let me post to you...
e-mail me.
Thanks for this post.
I have another six months before I reach that "two years experience" everyone seems to want. I did bite the bullet and settle for a less than top paying job to be working and getting that experience straight from training. My outlook was the same as yours. I am glad to know I'm in good company. I thought your post was very nice.
Very useful post. I wish
this post would automatically pop up every time somebody came here asking about schools, and whether the extra $1000 or whatever is worth it.
i only got about 2/3 of the way through your post.....
and thought there are much better ways for you to do this. Here are some suggestions that might save you a little money.

1. Try finding another internet provider. I pay $30 per month for my high speed.

2. Do not spend money on books anymore. Use reliable web sites. This is the beauty of Internet. In the old-days when we worked on-site and there was no Internet, we had to rely on books, but nowadays you can have the AAMT Styleguide on your computer, and there are so many reliable web sites for surgical instruments, medications, etc.

3. Can you possibly e-mail your invoices. This will get it to your provider quicker, and hopefully a paycheck back to you quicker, i.e. no paper or ink. My printer has been out of ink for 2 weeks. I do everything on line now, and never print anything anymore.

3. The cabinet was a one time purchase, but will be a tax write off.

4. Talk to your husband about the importance of your job and income. I hate to work when my husband is home. Some times I need to, and he and the kids all know that mom is working and cannot be disturbed (for the most part).

5. I hear you on the CPA thing. Mine charges me so much money to do my taxes. I am seriously considering disolving my corporation and going back to using my social security number. I really have not seen any perks there.

Anyway, hope some of these help.

I said in my post that she can't get
a TRANSCRIPTION job with just a coding education.
Thank you for this post
The office that I work for is going to EMR soon. I was so afraid I was going to lose my job. I'm still not exactly sure what I'm going to be doing, but I have EMR training starting next week.

new MTs -- see angry MT on main board and never

NEVER work for free to get your foot in the door.  No company worth working for will require that.  You may have a hard time getting that first job -- but think enough of yourself, your qualities, your training to expect a fair wage for services performed.  I started 30 years ago in the office with 2 podiatric surgeons.  Thought i'd never use most of the terminology i learned: wrong!   Start whereever you can, it may not be at home, but the upside to that is that you may have a stronger foundation and less stress when you do bring your job home.  Good luck!

There were two jobs on the Job Seeker's board
over the weekend that were looking for typists and general transcriptionists. Try one of them as a starting point. I don't know anything about either of those companies, but I started out doing general transcription while I was still in school. I worked for emediamillworks/FDCH, an insurance company and a small MTSO in New England doing work comp reports until I got hired to work at home by our local hospital.

Just proceed with caution. Don't go buying a bunch of equipment or paying anybody for a job. I wouldn't invest in anything except MS Word and a footpedal (can be bought on Ebay). You can download Express Scribe for free to play the sound files on your computer with the footpedal.

Check the "company" board
or do a search.
Look at the job seeker's board..apply everywhere
Regardless of what it says for experience, request to test for them.  If you are good and pass the test, you may be given an opportunity.  This is what I did 4 years ago.  I got the job as an IC, and then not too longer after added another, and then another.  I just kept replying to job ads and requesting to test.  I passed the tests and was offered the jobs.   Most of the time, I wasn't even asked about my experience.  The proof is in the pudding.  If you can do good work, are reliable, and are flexible in when you're willing to work, you can find something.  You just need to get out there and start replying to ads.
Check out the Job Seeker's board here.
I saw a couple of ads that mentioned newbies could apply.
Gee, I was under the impression that this board WAS for professional MTs!

MANY people? I saw one! What board are you reading?

There is a thread about them on the company board.

Please stop yelling at everyone on the board. SM
You'll not find too much support if you yell (all caps) or are new and just come here to point fingers at everyone.

Please remember that all caps is the equivalent of yelling and it just won't go over well here.
