autocorrect. I do not have a "bought" expander, use autocorrect and have been doing this for 30 years. THe key to remembering is to save each shortcut with the same format. For example - I use

tr - treat
trm - treatment
trg - treating.
trd - treated
trs - treats

and then the same ending for like words --- m for ment, d for ed, s for pleurals, etc.

For abbrevisions that are diagnoses, such as COPD, I use an x after the abbreviation to expand. I also use a "h'in front of headers - hheent - HEENT, hch for CHEST, etc.
