Hi,  I've only been doing this for a few months (four) and I am not making enough to make a mortgage payment yet, but I should be able to after more experience and practice.  That rate you saw WAS way low.  The lowest pay I have seen is 6-7 cents per line and that would put 10,000 at around $700.  I was paid 3 cents per line during an internship program, but I hadn't taken any MT course, just a lot of medical background.  Many people contract with more than one company, to ensure that if the one slows down, they can pick up the slack with the other one.  It all depends on how good,fast...etc ....and how much effort and time you put into it.  Right now, I only make about $100 a week, but it's been steadily increasing.  I'm thinking after a year or so of experience, I should be doing pretty good.
