"then if this is the case and we are all up you-know-what creek without a paddle, then why is anybody even being encouraging at all?" That's what we keep saying-- that's why we're not being encouraging!

" From the experience aspect, it seems that getting your first job is the biggest problem."  getting the first job is the first problem, by no means the biggest. VR, EMR, outsourcing are the bigger problems.

"So is life. I guess your better off becoming a nurse, if you can't handle the blood, become a medical secretary and deal with the office politics while making $8 lousy bucks an hour. " What a wise conclusion, which is exactly why I entered nursing school this fall...

"If this is such a serious issue, why aren't we doing anything about it? We all know (even the newbies)that outsourcing is a serios threat. If none of us are making money in this lovely country of ours, then how are we supposed to put back into the economy that makes it what it is? "  The one group that was supposed to be the unified voice of MT's, the AAMT, sold us out. They saw MT in the US was going downhill and they all jumped ship to overseas? Why? They can sell more subscriptions to the AAMT. They can sell more training tapes, more equipment, more study guides, moremoremore. So what is your suggestion to do something about it? Pretty hard for a few middle class Americans to change a global shift, isn't it? And you are so right, the very heart of the economy has been cut out. When machinists and technical support advisors and programmers and MT's lose their jobs overseas, those paychecks won't go back into the US economy.

"Why don't we all just sit here and whine and cry about it. That's how things get done, isn't it?" I can't fix a global shift. But I can look around and see what is coming down the pike and get myself ready for a new career...so that's what I did. Just trying to let the newbies in on what we've been seeing, that's all. They can do what they want.
