How does one go about getting a raise as an independent contractor?

How long should you wait after starting with a company? I am not even in the same state so do I call or e-mail? Does anyone know the correct protocol?

Pay raise
As a newbie with a decent job, when is it appropriate to ask for a raise?

I realize there are probably several things to consider on this question, but what might the norm? Thanks.

Pay raise
I started out at a very low pay rate in March 2004 (2.5 cents/line) just to gain the experience and within less than a year was jumped to 7 cents/line based on my skill. Honestly, in the beginning it wasn't a lot of money but I wasn't in it for the money so much as the experience. I am so glad I did it because my boss is totally FABULOUS unlike some of them out there.
Pay Raise? What's that???
Stefanie, you are funny!!

Pay raise. ROFL until I am sick . . . I figure the pay raise comes when the Easter Bunny hops by to deliver your paycheck.
Raise
I have been working for the same company since 5/2/06.  I asked about a raise and they do not give them.  Is this normal?
If you really want to be productive and raise
your children well, then please, please do not do it this way. You cannot put your children in front of the television set to be babysat while you work. I am a single mother and I work from home. My son is school-age now, but before he was, he went to daycare in the mornings for half the day so I could work. Then, I would work in the evenings after I put him to bed. I know that you will choose to raise your children in whatever way you shall, and you may perhaps be someone who is just trying to push buttons on this board to start something, but I have to tell you your children will suffer greatly if you allow this to happen. You will also find out that it will not be as easy as you think to just *plop* them down in front of the TV and go to work. This is a tough job...especially in the beginning. You are going to be doing a lot of research and it is going to be hard to get your production up to speed as it is without the added stress of having your children there with you. You need to honestly sit down and truly consider this.

Just my opinion.
How to ask for a raise? 7 cpl for one year now...
Are raises given?
