M-TEC - go to their website - nm
xx
I just went to their website
I just went to Lartech's website. No doubt about it being an Indian company. They may say they have headquarters in Texas, but with the internet, all (or bulk) of the work can go overseas just as easily as other outsourcing companies do. I checked several pages, there are typos and grammatical errors. It seems to me that alone speaks VOLUMES!

Good luck to you.

do you have a website for them?
?
do you have a website for them? nm
nm
it's not YOUR website and not YOUR opinion only on here
so we are allowed ours and you have absolutely NO RIGHT to chastise the other poster for her advice

grow up a little bit, mommy

I can't find a website. I think
they should give more information about the company than they did if people are to send their sensitive information by e-mail.
Med-Tech website is
www.med-tech.net and that is the correct one for Northeast.
website for mRecord

http://www.mrecord.com/

This is their website.

I went to their website and from what it said they are feeding
you a bunch of *rap and I wouldn't waste my money.   Andrews and M-Tec are the best, Career Step after them.   Sure they cost more, but you get what you pay for.
You can go to H&R Block's website
They have a tax estimator calculator on their website. I think it's on the middle of the homepage somewhere.
Link to Website

Here is a link to the transcription program page offered by MSU-Bottineau.

check this website
http://www.histopathology-india.net/EDCa.htm
Read the website
Read the AHDI website under Under CMT elibibility it states.... "Although any candidate is eligible and granted permission to take the CMT certification exam, two-years of transcription experience in the acute care (or equivalent) setting is strongly suggested for success on the exam."

So apparently they have changed their mandatory 2- years of experience requirement.
The Department of Labor website
has tables that should answer your question. There is no absolute answer. There are so many variables that responses from individual MTs would apply strictly to those MTs with their particular skills in their particular locations and not necessarily equate to your situation. Best to check the DoL site for your locale.
I didn't use a dating website...
but I met my husband online in an AOL chat room. We now have 2 kids and have been together almost 7 years.
I just went to the RS website and the part # I gave you
is selling there for $6.97, but I paid about $17.00 for mine.  There is a part #26-728 that is described as a USB to game port adapter for about $17.00, so maybe the new model # is an upgrade from the previous one.   It doesn't show a picture of the part, but does show it is being in stock.  I also went to e-bay and didn't spend much time looking but they also have an adapter that is not a Radio Shack one, but should do the same thing based on the description.    You can check local stock on-line at Radio Shack without having to go to the store.   Maybe it is so new they don't have it in stores yet, since they don't even have a picture on the website.  Good luck to you.
I didn't go to their website, but I knew they
probably weren't legit because they used 2 different names on 2 different boards to post about their "internship."
I just Googled them and found their website
Found their website at www.lartechinc.com. Looks a little sketchy to me. Funky wording and a section on India operations. Looks like an Indian-run company. I would definitely stay away.
Their website looks like a school of some type. sm
Were you offered a job, or are they trying to sell you a training course in MT? If the latter, I wouldn't take it. I don't see anything on their website about hiring transcriptionists.
Stedman's is the best. You can download from their website or
order the CD.
False claim on their website...sm
I graduated from M-TEC's Premier Program, and there are 2425 minutes of dictation available (with an extra 1000 minutes of optional dictation available). My training at M-Tec prepared me VERY well, and I had a job within a week of graduating and had very little problem transitioning from M-TEC's practice dictations to real live dictations.
Here is good website for you, David.

You have to test on the companies website.
For some reason, it seems like they don't even bother to take a look at resumes anymore. Even with 5 years of experience, they don't even look at you until you have passed their test. It gets very tiresome to constantly test for different companies, but it seems like the only way to get in the door.

Have you tried Diskriter? I don't know what they require for experience, but I would say that is a good place to get started. I didn't mind it there, but pay was a little lower than what I thought I should be getting.

Good luck.

Have you looked into a transcription service? I saw one advertised last year on mtjobs.com, and they seemed legit, but I can't guarentee that. They offered to set me up with interviews and I only had to take their test, which would be used in place of all the individual company testing. Might be worth a shot. Good luck. Don't give up just yet.

It took me 250 resumes/applications and 87 interviews before I was hired for my first job out of school (granted it was for a different position still within the medical field).
eMedicine website - neurologic tests

This website is great reading.  This link takes you to a page of neurologic physical examinations, but it has everything, not just neuro.  I guess it's a site for doctors.  You do have to register to certain things, and I don't know if they require you to be a doctor to register because I haven't tried it lately.  There is plenty to see without seeing close-ups.  Something constructive to do while waiting for that first job.

there are email addresses on the SETT website
in case you wanted some testimonials.
I don't see the link to the website you referenced in your email
can you re-send it?
I don't believe Andrews lists ALL the books on their website ...
that they provide for their course, just a few. You could contact the head of each school they will actually talk to you and answer your questions. From everything I have read over the last few years, both schools are wonderful.
Their website states they use 100% domestic (U.S.) staff
I did some checking online, and they do have a website but their home page is under construction. The page you can get more info on them is here: http://www.worlddirectweb.com/Services/. It is on that page where they mention the 100% domestic staff. I haven't heard of this company and know nothing about them, but a little online research to find out as much info as possible helps a bit, also might try calling them and asking questions, too :)
They've been around a while & their website is up to date. Also say they have world-wide
,
I'm just repeating what I read on the official CS website. If it's misleading,
they might want to re-word it. Not my fault.

And I'm sorry to say I did not attend Andrews, M-Tec or CS. I'm sure any of them would have been better than the school I went to back in the 1980s. That was long before one could research transcription schools on the internet. My training was not complete enough for acute care until I was accepted with a company that had a mentor who could work with me.
Nevermind...not paid. In fact, website says they charge
a $99 enrollment fee. That means this company is getting paid for work that is done for free by newbie MTs. Yikes!

If school is AHDI-approved, there are paid apprenticeship programs available.

Check out this website - it has the best explanation I've found. sm
http://www.ftpplanet.com/ftpresources/basics.htm
CS website says there is money to be made for those who promote the training program!
No wonder people are so quick to promote CS. I don't think M-Tec or Andrews pay people to promote their school! If they do, they owe me some money, LOL!
You're only posting your opinion & website b/c CS pays you for you referrals
nm
Their website hasn't been updated since 2005. No mention of US-only MTs or anything of importance
s
Linked the website. They've never responded the few times I've tried. nm
