Bravo Zauber..well said and directly to the point..

I will never understand how people think that opposing an erroneous(in this case fictional and delusional) government policy is unpatriotic and a detriment to our troops.  I don't want to see any more die for reasons that do not nor have ever existed.

Well point to the law that directly gives
our military authority over the U.N.? Where is the AGREEMENT that says we have to approve military action through the U.N.? It was not covered in my college political science class or the numerous classes I took between high school and college. We have consulted the U.N. before taking military action AND consulted and worked with the UN for YEARS on the Iraq situation. Iraq/S Saddam consistently and constantly thumbed his nose to the U.N. authorities and broke inspection agreements. I know that not every one in the U.N. supported the war, but if I'm remembering the correctly there was not enough opposition to put up a direct U.N. declaration to oppose the war.

I think we are reading different versions of history and the laws of the land.
Zauber

Pat Robertson is not my spokesperson.  As far as the rest of your unhinged leftist diatribe it doesn't justify a response.

Thank you, Zauber!

LOL Zauber!

Don't apologize.  I love it!  Was trying to think of another moniker, anyway, since *Libby* is the name of someone was involved in leaking the name of a CIA agent.  I love my country and don't want to be associated with the treason committed by part of the Bush administration for the sake of *getting even* with a person for having the nerve to tell Americans the truth.

I thought of just turning the *bb* backwards, but then I become *Liddy* and I've never been arrested and don't want to be associated with that kind of corruption, either.

Just when I thought I wouldn't win, you came up with LILLY!  I love it!

So don't apologize.  Instead, please accept my thanks for the *handle*.

You said a mouthful there, Zauber!
If there's one thing I can't tolerate, it's a liar.  There's no way I can trust a person who's lied to me, and most of them just don't have what it takes to "learn" to tell the truth.  It's an inherent character flaw, from what I've experienced in my life.
Dang, Zauber!
Read your posts twice and am suddenly wondering if I know you and/or if you're my NEIGHBOR, because from your descriptions, I swear I've met the same people you've met!  You flawlessly captured their essence very eloquently.  And I agree with every single thing you said!
Maybe, Zauber, because you are not rational.
Your posts are all inflammatory, full of anger and rage, and you will only believe what you wish to.  There is no reasoning with that.  Why even try?
Oh, nooooooooo, Zauber. You got it wrong!

THEY are the poor innocent ones who are being ruthlessly attacked, completely unprovoked!

I'm thinking there's a LOT to be said for that "opposite side of the bring" thing mentioned above!!!

Hope you have a nice holiday weekend, and yes, it's much more pleasant here.  I agree it's totally draining to even visit that board any more.  I feel like I'm walking into a minefield.

Some of them actually do serve a valuable purpose, though.  If I'm having a bad day when I'm upset, maybe making mistakes and feeling just generally stupid, I can always visit their board and instantly feel better, and I thank them for that.

Sometimes, Zauber, you just leave yourself wide open.

Robert Bennett was CLINTON'S lawyer during several of his sexual harrassment lawsuits and the Monica fiasco.  Yes, he is a real Republican partisan.  Sheesh.

I seriously doubt the Dems would claim you,Zauber. You're another Howard Dean.

Post directly above this

Huh? Two of the posters are directly below
_
Really? A lib posted directly under here
and presented an interesting challenge to sm about the Bloomberg article in "while analyzing those millions." Instead of claiming that liberals "always attack the messenger," talking about how they don't want to be educated, making wisecracks about mindreading and trying to belittle them for ALWAYS being on the attack, why don't you pitch in and help sm answer that little puzzler about the FDIC funds referred to in the article? So far, we see no one stepping forward to answer that challenge. It's not that hard. She gave 2 clues.
Well I actually do believe he was talking directly
about the O when he was addressing their failed PM. Two failures in charge of countries. I think if the PM can come sliming here begging for money, this guy should come over and explain to our congress (cos they don't evidentally get it) what they have done to the economy of the world. But the speach he gave might as well been talking right to the enlightened one.
It was a reply to the post directly above it...
"In his private career, seems like he did a lot of work for the poor and several civil rights cases. I guess that would make some conservatives a little afraid of him :-)"

It is the taunt I was replying to. Democrats have not in the past had a stellar reputation for championing the civil rights of African Americans and I pointed that out. And they became interested in the poor African American AFTER they finally got the right to vote. Coincidence?

Again, respectfully...replying the the taunt.
To answer your question directly
Would I accept less to save a MTSO, no I would not, but then we're not making near what the auto workers are making, apples and oranges. I feel I pesonally have to take a stand regarding ASR and pay for such. What they're asking us to take is ridiculous. Regardless of global economy, we still live in the good ole US of A and have a certain standard of living to uphold. As long as it is possible I will not do ASR nor will I edit reports being typed abroad. I left MQ last year, refusing to put up with their nonsense. Thankfully I only have a few years til retirement.
I did address it directly. In the post above....
and you proved my point about the attacking. Typical dem.
Took your advice - went directly to the source -
Okay, went to the source. Says the same thing - Obama 49, McCain 47 with likely voters.

Drudge shows the facts. You were okay with them when they favored your candidate.

What I am hearing is if Obama was so much better than McCain he would certainly have a much larger lead (like 20 points or more), but he doesn't, which goes to show that it is a very close race and you need to prepare yourself that either candidate could win.
Thanks for that info. I did go directly to this man's site...
and he talks about his email there also. I don't put much stock in any web-based sites; too much can be fabricated through the guise of anonymity.
I am talking Palin directly
That person who protrayed herself to be so righteous, so godly, Miss Goody-Goody has lots of skeletons in her closet yet to be all shaken out. It was really, really important when all just held onto every little word or piece of clothing that did not belong to her in the first place discussed. I am glad to see her falling off that high horse, yes I am.
If someone ever posts something directly about one of Obama's children...
like that nastiness posted about Sarah Palin's daughter, I would be criticizing that as well. THere is absolutely NO reason for bringing a candidate's children into the political battleground. I have seen nothing posted here about lies about Obama's family other than some posters taking shots at the way the two women dress, and Cindy McCain got it as bad as Michelle Obama. I think that is pretty silly on both sides. I saw someone post what Michelle said about being proud of her country. It went away pretty quickly. I saw a lot of worse things about cindy Mcain winning her battle over prescriptin drug addiction, but the posts were much more hateful, mean, and personal.

Michelle Obama was out stumping for her husband and she said something in public people thought she should explain.

Barack Obama used drugs in his youth and was open about it. No one here condemned that. yet they tore the hide of Cindy McCain in strips because she admitted an addiction to prescription drugs because of an injury. do you find that fair? At ALL fair?

Why can't we at the very LEAST leave minor children out of this???
That should read: McCain directly denied
then continue reading the above post. time for another cup of coffee.
The moderator asked you to stop directly below this post.

You don't know the meaning of the word *respectful.*  You want to come here and censor this board and lay down the law about what is *newsworthy* and what isn't, the same way you people want to control every aspect of every American's life.  How ya makin' out in that regard?  Not too well, eh?

You and your other sidekick(personality?) below don't come here to debate.

You come here to incite, and regardless of your promises, you'll never leave.  Nobody is bothering you on your board, and you have to release your evil vile hatred somewhere or else you will explode, so you come here.

If you want to see vicious, consult the nearest mirror.

Typical pub. Can't address a single issue directly.
nm
Evidently, pubs didn't care that McC directly denied
tried to diffuse all the scare tactics fall-out. What I want to know is why would McC supporters and their campaign turn a blind eye to a frightened senile old woman and keep right on pushing agendas that will produce more such embarrassing moments for their own candidate? Is this the kind of leadership we can expect under a McCain regime? How disconnected is this candidate from his own campaign management and supporters? Is that really the picture you want to paint for him? How much more fuel do you guys intend to use to stoke the fires of ignorance, division and deceit?

McCain seemed really sad last night when he tried to reassure that shaking, frail, senile old woman, but instead of looking presidential, he just looked like a beaten down has-been. Congratuations on an utterly moronic campaign strategy. Enjoy the fall-out.
Yes, the chips exist honey. I was speaking directly to the hysteria evoked
It shows a distinct lack of knowledge about the world and the peoples who inhabit it.

As to those that perpetuate this mythos...well, if you allow anyone to prey on your fears, you give them power over you. People need to investigate all sides of an issue, not just the perspective they agree with or the one spoonfed to them.
Not to mention that the "Jihaad" holy war itself was caused directly from Daddy Bush having to
rush in with Desert Storm in order to secure the oil wells, securing the oil for all his oil baron friends and himself. Bin Laden himself said that when we rushed in, we had "tainted" Muslim soil and felt he had to retaliate. Of course, these are the ravings of a madman, but Bush policies directly inflamed the already hostile Taliban fighters. Also, the Bush and Bin Laden families have a long history in the business world, and the night of September 11th, the government made it pssible for Bin Laden family members in this country to flee and not face retaliation........please look it up in the newgroups, I have seen many amazing documentaries about these facts on Discovery, History Channel, Military Channel, and some of the news channels.
Bravo!!!!

Your post was wonderful, articulate and right on target.

They haven't been able to bait people on their own board recently and hurl their venom, but they need their "fix," so they come here instead and try to start trouble.  I agree that you shouldn't respond to them any more.  Why give them what they want?

Bravo!

Thank you for such an eloquent post.

Have you ever noticed the disconnect between those who are in favor of Bush?  The richest of the rich and those who are very highly educated and then those who aren't so rich and educated, with all the rest of us in the middle.  The richest of the rich don't have to worry about Roe because if it's gone, they can afford to go to another part of the world.

And our country absolutely does not deserve the autocratic theocratic government that has been forced upon us.  One of the wonderful things about America is diversity of religious beliefs. What really frightens me about all this is that the war on terror is quickly becoming a "Christian versus Muslim" war.  Tom Tancredo from Colorado recently suggested boming mosques.  If we choose to turn this into a religious war, we are diminishing the importance of it and diminishing our country as a whole, regardless of faith, to bond together and be united against the war on terror.

As far as the shoe being on the other foot, from what I've personally witnessed by some of these people, they feel the shoe has been on the other foot for years, that they've been ignored, and now is their turn to take control.  They typically blame minorities and women for taking all the "men's jobs," blame the "liberal mainstream media" for virtually everything, and are suddenly feeling empowered after they felt beaten down over past years of tolerance and reasonableness, when they couldn't impose their prejudices and anger and religion on the rest of the country.  It's as if a smoldering volcano has erupted, and they are spewing out all the negative things that have been keeping inside in all these years past when fairness prevailed in this country.  They don't want to be just one of many religions in this country.  They want to be the only one that counts, the one that they can write laws to revolve around.

They want to end Roe.  They are against any contraception products that go against "the will of God."  They want to control what happens in your home, in your family, in your bedroom.  They want to control what you see on television.  They want to control who you love, whether or not it's legal for you to love who you love.  They want to take science backwards in the name of "God" and prevent stem cell research that might save the lives of their parents, sisters, brothers, and/or children who are already here. They holler and scream at and actually kill those who respect a woman's right to choose. They put more value on a petrie dish full of inanimate cells than they do on people who are already born, but you never hear them even whimper a word of disdain when children in our country are being molested and murdered on what seems like a weekly basis during this year alone. They want to control when you're born and when and how you die.

In short, they want to control not just the lives but the very SOULS of every single person in this country, and they detest anyone who disagrees with them.

You're right: 51% is no mandate, and after the 2000 selection, there are still some who aren't sure that Bush actually won in 2004.  They don't even realize that Bush is really on the side of the rich and not on their side.  They continue to defend and justify every action of Bush and those in his administration, whether it's actually something that defendable or justifiable or not –- such as entering into a bogus war based on lies and/or exposing the identity of a CIA agent working on WMD (in a time of war), both done purely for personal reasons and never really caring what's best for this country.

They sqawk about a lack of morals in this country, yet they don't think it's immoral for Bush to exploit the tragedy of 9/11 in order to scare the American public into agreeing to a war that Bush came into office with the intention of waging, long before 9/11 happened.  He lied to Congress, and he lied to the American people.  That's about the most immoral thing I've ever seen a president do. I never thought a President could actually make Nixon look GOOD, but Bush has done that 1,000 times over.

IMHO, we're heading down a very dangerous road in this country, and I hope America wakes up before it's too late.

Bravo!

One thing that wasn't mentioned was the vile increase in gas prices, which will also result in much higher heating costs this winter for many people.  That's an increased cost experienced by most Americans, which also effectively cuts their net income.  The rich, who keep getting richer under Bush, will easily be able to absorb that cost.  As usual, it's the poor and dwindling middle class who will suffer.

I wonder how many Bushies are now living near or at the poverty level and don't even realize it, as they continue to beat the Bush drum louder and louder.

Bravo
I do not mind in the least. I got a bit carried away, but if anyone can send me over the the top, it is Michael Moore. Sigh. lol.
Bravo! I second that!

BRAVO!

Great post!!!  These are exactly the same reasons I voted for him.

When I look back on how Obama ran his campaign versus how John "Chicken-With-Its-Head-Cut-Off" McCain ran his, there was no question in my mind that if Obama can run the country only 1/100th as well as he ran his campaign, then there is great hope for this wonderful country.

Bravo
Articulate and intelligent. Something this board is sadly lacking.

Bravo! sm
You have said everything that I have been trying to say for weeks!!!  There is much, MUCH more to this than meets the eye, especially the eye of those who refuse to see what is going on.

Are you SURE you wouldn't do well as a writer?
Bravo!

Bravo! Very well said.
I couldn't agree more, and I hope Americans can come together once again.
Bravo
& therein lies the flawed logic. If they really want to say that abortion is 100% wrong 100% of the time, then they should offer examples from the entire cross-section of humanity. Wouldn't go over nearly as well, I would imagine. The fact that they are entirely selective about their choice of what to present as justification for their belief system is the best evidence for the fact that what they are advertising is in the end Just Someone's Humble Opinion. To which I say, Thanks but No Thanks.

Bravo!

Bravo! Bravo!!..I could not have said it better!...nm

BRAVO!!

Great post, Cyndiee!  What Bush did for 8 years did not work.  Giving more and more to the rich only created a greedy (now ANGRY), very small group of people who became greedier and greedier, as they stole from those with less money than they (as evidenced by 401Ks now being "201Ks").

There was no "trickle-down" with these people, just an unsatiable appetite for more, more, more.

At least Obama is TRYING to address the problem of offshoring/outsourcing work (for example), and he acknowledges the fact that the middle class have progressively become more poor under the Bush administration, as the rich progressively became richer.

I saw on the news last night that Bernie Madoff (for example) feels he should be able to keep his plush penthouse apartment (including maids' quarters) and some of his millions because he transferred ownership of those items to his wife.  (Again, check your 401Ks and tell me how warm and fuzzy that makes you feel.)

This is big-time class warfare going on in this country, where the majority of us are struggling and just the top 5% are thriving.  Obama sees this.  He's TRYING to fix a situation that no human being has ever encountered on this earth in history.  This isn't just an "American depression;" it's global, and (again, referring back to the documentary "House of Cards"), most of it was caused by the UNITED STATES and the greed of our richest citizens.  It's clear that economists can't even agree on a course to fix it, but continuing to make the rich even richer didn't work for eight years under Bush, and it won't work under Obama.  So Obama is trying to do something new and "spectacular," already fully taking the blame if his plan doesn't work (something Bush never did).

I believe he is deserving of the CHANCE to make it work.  The people who voted for him are willing to give him that chance.  The whole country was forced to give Bush a "chance," and all we got was lies, arrogance, a bogus war, debt and the decline of this country.

Time for a new attitude and a new plan.

Please just give Obama a CHANCE!!!

Bravo!!!!
I couldn't have said it better myself.  I feel exactly the same way.
Bravo Indeed!
I am very proud of what President Obama did.

The Obama bashers are really eating crow this morning. They HATE the fact that President Obama is doing GOOD for this country.
